Reading....
Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4, where we try to challenge you to think, discover, and make new friends through blogging.
1. Would you tell us about a book you particularly enjoyed? There are many, but the first one I thought of was Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett. It is the first of a five-book series. I've read them all, but have read the first one three times.
2. Do you have a favorite book series? See above. I just finished a three-book series by Nora Roberts called The Seven Rings series. How about a favorite series when you were a kid? Nancy Drew!!
3. Is there a book that you just did not like or one in which you just could get interested? There are more of those than good ones, I'm afraid. If I am not engaged by chapter 2, I don't pursue it. That said, I also don't remember the names of the books I didn't like.
4. Is there an author whose books you don't want to miss or one whose books you avoid? I will always read the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich.
Like you, if it doesn't engage me by the 2nd chapter, forget it! I've got too much to do to try to read something I don't enjoy. Thankfully we don't have to do book reports anymore! LOL. Right now I am in a non-reading zone...still too busy with after Christmas stuff, and trying to get back into a normal routine, so I haven't really had time for reading. Once that's all back to normal I will be looking for books to read again.
ReplyDeleteI loved Nancy Drew, The Bobbsey Twins, Little House. I loved to read and still enjoy it. I tend to keep reading and force myself through, even if I'm not enjoying a book. Don't know why I do that!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love to listen to audiobooks. You either love them or hate them!
ReplyDeleteThey put me to sleep and my place is lost.
DeleteI've always enjoyed reading, Terri. I'm with you, though. If a book doesn't grab me by the second chapter, I'm outta there. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteI agree that I won't continue much after the 2nd chapter if at all when I can't get engaged. I like books that draw me in with relatable characters or situations.
ReplyDeleteI will be checking out Pillar of the Earth, if you've read three times it must be VERY good !
ReplyDeleteI read more now that I ever have in the past. It broadens the horizons and is an easy way to learn some life lessons with the hope I can avoid some pitfalls along the way.
ReplyDeleteI've always been an avid reader and love love books but like you, if i can't get into my chapters 2-3, back to the library it goes!! I had about 4 of those in 2025.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look up The Pillars of the Earth...and The Seven Rings. I've read a lot of Nora Roberts but I don't know if I've read that one. I'm just starting Evanovich's latest, King's Ransom. The booky questions were fun. Have a great week, Terri!
ReplyDeleteDear Terri, I enjoy reading. I only read non fiction. If a movie doesn't grasp me in the first 15 minutes I won't waste time with it.
ReplyDeleteSame with a book. It doesn't happen often that a book doesn't grasp me, because I am picky about what I read.
I read a lot too Terri - I spend time every morning to read. Haven't heard of The Pillars of the Earth.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to investi-Google Pillars of the Earth! Like you, if I'm not intrigued by (say), Page #59, it's going away. Life's too short to read bad prose and drink bad wine. (So they say ...)
ReplyDeleteOr bad coffee!!
DeleteI love Stephanie Plum, too! I've been trying to venture out of my normal genres and have read several very interesting books lately!
ReplyDeleteOh, now you mention Nancy Drew I enjoyed her as well. I don't read on if I can't get into the story after a few paragraphs. Once upon a time I thought I should but no, life's too short.
