Is it really January 2nd already? We look forward to Christmas and the new year for weeks and weeks beforehand, then WHOOSH - here we are in that new year, marching forward!
I will back up to Wednesday to write about the wonderful time I had with my son's partner/girlfriend, Kali, her parents, and her lifelong best friend, Jaimie.
They came around noon, and we went to Saigon Bistro for lunch. It was so cold (for us!) that we decided to not visit Bonnet Springs Park for a ride around on the trolley. We returned to my house and visited for a while. We were all talking about TV shows we like, and I mentioned The Repair Shop. When Jeff was here, he really liked it. I put an episode on for them while I put our strawberry shortcake together. They all liked the show (even Stuart!), so we ate our dessert in front of the TV and ended up watching three episodes before they decided they needed to leave so they could get home before dark. We 'happy-new-year-ed' and hugged. As they were driving out, I remembered that no one had taken a picture to document the visit. I texted Kali and asked her to take one of all of them and send it to me. She sent these...
Maureen, Kali, Jaimie, and Stuart
Jaimie and Kali have been best friends since Junior High School. They are planning a trip to Europe this year to celebrate their 50th birthdays!
I always enjoy time spent with them! I'm just sorry Kali's sister, Leslie, had to go home before they got to come down my way. I enjoy her company, too.
I did not stay up for the ball to drop. I went to bed around 10:00, and the ball dropped without me. I did wake up to a brand new year, though! Praise God!
I met Cheryl at Miller's Ale House for a New Year's Day lunch. It was nice catching up with her. We sat and talked for another 30 minutes or so after we finished our meals.
Today, I am off to Publix for a few more things I need for my company tonight. My former boss, Danon, his wife, Mali, and our friend Monika are coming for dinner. I'm doing Mexican. Fajitas, tacos, beans and rice, tortillas... You get the idea. I will also have strawberry shortcake for dessert. This is strawberry season, here in central Florida.
Tomorrow, I am off to Punta Gorda for lunch with Tristan, Lauren, and my new grandson-in-law, Jeremy!! So glad Lauren and Jeremy are joining us, too! My Monday post will have pictures. No way will I forget about that!!
Thanks for getting this far!! I appreciate all of you sharing my life through these sometimes ho-hum journal entries. Happy New Year!!

I'm so glad you got to spend time with them. What a beautiful family - I love that photo.

ReplyDeleteWe had Mexican on New Year's Eve which was so good after all the heavy meat meals we've been eating. Sounds like you had a nice time with family and friends and there's more to come. Happy 2026!

ReplyDeleteStrawberry Shortcake, YUM! So good to hear you had a good visit, they a are a beautiful family. I did manage to be awake as the New Year came in . . . heard a few firecrackers from the neighborhood, which is a no-no inside city limits. Thankfully they didn't do many and stopped right after midnight. Hope the new year showers you with much happiness.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet visit! No way do Kali and Jaime look like they're turning 50. I'm so glad you told me about The Repair Shop ... we enjoy it, too.
