Good Monday morning, and hello December!!
I started putting the Fall decorations away and dragging out boxes of Christmas stuff on Friday. I did get my tree in position and decorated, put wreaths in the front windows and at both doors, got some greenery on the porch railing, and various other this and that, here and there! I've not taken pictures of everything yet, but here is my little tree.
Yesterday, I did my two loads of laundry after church. I also made a big pot of Williamsburg Turkey Soup with the rest of the Thanksgiving turkey. I found that recipe years ago, and it is so good. I don't think I've made it in a few years. I have some in the fridge for the next couple of days and froze a big portion to have when my son, Jeff, is here (for my birthday week!!!). I linked the recipe, but I have never used the carcass of the turkey. I use four quarts of chicken broth. I also use instant rice. The roux is important, though, and makes it so creamy!! This is a picture of my dinner last night...
I got started doing my Christmas cards last night. I want to get them done this week and ready to mail next week. This coming weekend, I will be driving down to Naples, catching a ride with friends to go on to Key Largo for my granddaughter Lauren's wedding! It sure got here fast! I am so happy to not be driving 6.5 miles by myself.
I am driving Anne and Paul to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa today, and again on Friday. They will have to stay there for six days while Paul gets another round of chemo, preparing him for a bone marrow transplant after the first of the year. Keep him on your prayer list, please.
Tomorrow, I am going to Tampa Zoo with my friend, Cheryl. She got tickets to use when her granddaughter was here, but they didn't use them. She invited me to go before they're no longer good. I've lived here in Tampa Bay (Lakeland is considered part of Tampa Bay) for 36 years and have never visited the zoo. I have a dermatologist appointment on Wednesday, Bible Study, and the dinner group on Thursday. That's my week!!

That's staying very busy! Our Sunday School party is this week, then the Church has a party and on and on.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear one of your friends need chemo. I've watched so many friends that had to endure that. The treatment is so many times worse than the sickness. I wish there was another way to be cured.
24 days 'til Christmas! Yipee! 🎄
What a very pretty tree and corner! The zoo sounds like a ton of fun!
ReplyDeleteYour tree looks so nice! You had a busy but good weekend.
ReplyDeleteI need to get started on my cards too, it's on my list for this week.
I bet you'll enjoy the zoo!
Your tree is lovely! I packed away fall, but haven't started putting out the Christmas decorations yet. Have fun at the zoo!!
ReplyDeleteDear Terri, I love ❤️ your tree. The turkey soup sounds great. Enjoy your time.
ReplyDeleteYour tree looks fabulous, Terri. Thank you for the soup recipe. It looks mighty tasty. Enjoy your time at the zoo. Happy December!
ReplyDeleteYour tree is lovely and your soup looks delicious, Terri. You've reminded me that I have to buy stamps tomorrow so I can get busy on my Christmas cards, too. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnother busy week!
ReplyDeleteI do love your little tree and wish we might do the same. That big box seems to get heavier and more unwieldly every year. Thank you for this recipe; I'm really into soups lately.
PS - BTW, I had to take down my last post. I'd no idea it was so serious, but Robert's unit (+ family/friends) were given strict orders not to put one word on the computer concerning their mission. Seems like overkill, but I sure don't want him to get in trouble. Your comments are always appreciated!
I love your tree and I think it is perfect. Gosh again I say you are one busy lady. That soup does look good. I don't send cards - got a little expensive for me - the stamps and all.
ReplyDeleteI love a December wedding and hope you enjoy your travels south and the big day celebrating your grandaughter!
ReplyDeleteAww! Your little tree is so cute and the ornaments are so special.
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely that you and Shirley could watch Cindee's service.
Yum to that soup, it looks delicious!
Good luck to Paul with the chemo. I hope it all goes well and have a great day at the zoo.
That's a lot of stuff going on! Is that 65 miles, or 6.5 miles? I'm thinking 65? or 650? I don't know, but I thought it was a long way. Sounds like a fun place for a wedding! Your little tree is so sweet and bright and cheery. Your soup looks/sounds delicious. I wish I had some homemade soup right now, but I'm too lazy to make it. LOL. The Tampa Zoo sounds like a fun time also. Be sure to take pictures! Have a wonderful week.
