October 21st: The Tuesday 4...

Thanks to Annie for today's questions!  You can join the fun HERE!

Autumn Nights

Once again, Blogger failed to auto-post, so I am posting it myself anyway.  I understand if it's too late.  If no one joins in, I will repost it next week.  So sorry about this.

Autumn evenings were always special when I was a kid.  The day ended early, and the family gathered in the living room where my mother and grandmother watched a little TV and my father sat on the sofa reading and smoking his pipe.  My parents enjoyed a cup of coffee and sometimes a snack.

1. Does your life go along in the same way all year, or do things change with the seasons?  Here in Florida, life goes along pretty much the same, no matter the time of year.  Perhaps the only difference would be staying inside more in the summer months.

2. Do you have a favorite meal on a chilly night?  Soup.  Chili is always good in our cooler months.

3.  Do you have a snack while you watch TV or read?  I have ice cream most nights.

4. Do you have a fireplace in your home?  No.  No fire pit, either.  We had a fireplace in Virginia, but not for the last 36 years, here in Florida.

Peace and Hugs!

O for that flame of living fire,
which shone so bright in saints of old;
which bade their souls to heav'n aspire,
calm in distress, in danger bold.

My friends left yesterday and got to the airport with time to spare.  Then their flight changed gates, and they didn't make it to the new gate in time to board.  They are stuck in Orlando, but do have a flight out this morning.  I don't like to fly, and the reason I don't is the airports.  I really hate airports.  I'm sorry they were stuck, but happy they are getting home today.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I am behind again, but I will get caught up today!

  1. I have been reading due to the shutdown, airports etc. are a mess, sigh...so sorry this happened. Wishing you a lovely day, Terri.

  2. I think my life changes with the seasons, I know for certain I stay inside more during Autumn and Winter because of the rain and colder weather.
I have a fireplace but no working fire, ours is only decorative.

  3. Glad you had fun with your friends, such a bummer about missing their flight. I'm not a fan of airports either, especially the big ones!
Chili is on my menu for the weekend. It's gotten quite cold here and it sounds good!

  5. Oh, no, a flight delay? Glad they will be able to depart today for home, Terri. And I do love homemade chili on a cold night. It just does the trick!

We stay more inside in summer too.

  7. That is awful about your friends missing their plane. I don't like to fly either because you have to be so limited on what you can bring. If you drive, you can stock up your car and not worry about any time schedule. Chuck makes a pretty good chili and we eat it whether it's hot or cold out!

  9. I used to enjoy flying back in the old days - when there was leg room, the skies were friendlier and the airports were smaller and not these huge metropolises. Ugh!
I love ice cream after dinner!

  10. How annoying for your friends. Glad they got home eventually.

  11. I've been anxious to make chili since Spring, so hopefully those cold nights aren't far away. Airports are one of my least favorite places to be. I hope they arrived home with no more worries.

  12. I love a good fire, but it will have to be a fire pit at our Auburn house. No need for one here. We did have chili yesterday because I woke up to 58 and said, "We should have chili!"

  13. Your description of evenings at home when you were a child sound so very nice. I don't think we had relaxing evenings. My dad was a dairy farmer and we had an enormous garden and we were always going to church for one thing or another.

  14. I enjoyed your answers. I can imagine there wouldn't be much point of a FP in Florida unless you cranked the AC...I juoke that because I'm always hot, if I turn our gas one on, I'd need the AC on at the same time
