Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 624
2. According to HGTV, the colors of the year for 2026 are mostly decided. Top paint companies declare a color of the year, and decorators will incorporate that into their new year home and room designs. Here's what's on tap in terms of paint trends for 2026 (check out the link here to see photos)
- Sherwin Williams-universal khaki (inspired by heavy canvas and outdoor gear)
- Behr-hidden gem (a confident shade of teal)
- Valspar-warm eucylyptus (a warm sliver tinted green)
- Dutch Boy-melodious ivory (a honey tinted beige)
- Glidden-warm mahogany (a classic brick red)
- Krylon-matte coffee bean
- Clark and Kensington -Hazelnut Crunch (warm reddish-brown)
- Graham and Brown-Divine Damson (cherry red with a subtle violet undertone)
- Dunn and Edwards-midnight garden (the green that works everywhere)
First question-did you know there were so many different paint manufacturers? Which color on the list most appeals to you in terms of your own decorating style? Do you have plans to do any painting in your home in the coming year, and if so might you choose a color from this list? No, I had no idea there were so many manufacturers. I prefer neutral colors, so probably the khaki colors would be for me. My painting is done. I did my kitchen and both bathrooms in a neutral gray called London Fog. It was from Ace Hardware. Clark & Kensington.
Now, forget painting walls, which color name appeals to you most? Midnight Garden sounds calming.
3. What's something in your life you have to do-watch-or participate in that's about as exciting as 'watching paint dry'? Cleaning. I love it when it's done, but I procrastinate getting it done all the time. I took an idea from blogging friend, Mari, and made a cleaning schedule for each day of the week. I've been at it for two weeks and have already fallen behind (but I've been busy!)!! It is a good way to keep the chores front and center and to spread them out so it doesn't take forever to get the house cleaned each week. Looks good on paper, anyway. Thanks, Mari!
4 . Tuesday, October 14th is/was National Dessert Day...did you/will you celebrate? Tell us how? What's your absolute favorite dessert? Yes, just one. I know!! I didn't know about National Dessert Day, but I did have ice cream. My favorite desserts include coconut custard pie.
5. Perhaps today is the day I will get to bring my neighbors home from the Moffitt Cancer Center!
6. Insert your own random thought here. Is anyone else watching The Great British Baking Show 2025? I waited to start it until there are several episodes. I hate waiting a week for the next episode!! It's on Netflix. Always fun!

Our friends painted their living room London Fog and according to the time of the day and the light, it looks lilac. I love the color, smiles. Wishing you a beautiful day, Terri.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't watched the new season yet. I like to watch with my daughter2 and we just haven't figured out a schedule yet. I recently quit Netflix so it will probably be a while before we get to it. I hope your friend gets home this week too. I like the idea of a cleaning schedule but generally do better to tackle it all in a day. Happy Wednesday to you!
ReplyDeleteI love the paint colors theme, makes me want to repaint the living room. I have two daughters still at home, excellent painters, and very opinionated, as 17 and 19 year olds tend to be, about decorating. I'd be crazy not to let them paint whatever color they want, because...they'll paint it for me! I chose Sherwin-Williams Rosemary for my end tables, and I love them, with the tops stripped down to the wood, looks so nice together. I am impressed by a cleaning schedule, I could not stick to it. :)
ReplyDeleteAren't you glad your painting is done? It's not a fun task!
ReplyDeleteI like the cleaning schedule just to keep up, plus it's so satisfying to check something off. :)
I'm enjoying the British Baking Show too.
I would love to see that cleaning schedule!
DeleteI prefer neutral colors, too, Terri, when it comes to painting walls, etc. Thank goodness, though, we don't have any painting projects on tap. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI love color!!! I like Behr's color teal! I love to clean and hate to cook/bake! lol
ReplyDeleteI need to figure out how to make a sugar free coconut cream pie - I'm sure I could find some recipes online!! I need to create a cleaning schedule. My house keeping has not been up to par lately!!
ReplyDeleteI procrastinate when it comes to the cleaning too even though I know I feel much happier when it's all done.
ReplyDeleteI hope you got to bring your neighbours home from the cancer centre today!
I am loving The Great British Bake Off and have been watching it every week. I can't believe there's only a couple of episodes left.
We're all about neutral walls, too. While I no longer concern myself about re-sale appeal, our home is so small I think anything else would make it seem smaller.
ReplyDeleteGood idea about a cleaning schedule ... a little at a time doesn't sound so overwhelming.
Really, who decorates according to "Color Of The Year"? Who can afford to change their home every year?! Kinda silly, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteI like neutral too. One can add splashes of favorite colors as so desired. Much easier and cheaper.
Blessings. ❤️
I like neutral too - BUT I do need a splash of color in there somewhere.
ReplyDeleteCan't say I like coconut at all!
I am thinking about the cleaning schedule a little each day - I think that personally - I just want to GET-R-DONE - and I clean every Saturday morning. I just plan it.
For walls I prefer neutral colours, but when I dress (T-shirts, etc.), I love colour! My favourite colour is green (of course you might have already guessed this having seen my blog many times). LOL! I like forest green...like the trees and grass. I am not a fan of khaki or the lighter green. I love this forest green because I love nature and I find it soothing.
ReplyDeleteI definitely like neutral colors for my walls. Before we bought a house and had to rent, mostly old farmhouse apartments, I would long for neutral-colored walls instead of wallpaper that clashed with my furniture. And I always think that our house might sell better if the walls are neutral.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Mari's cleaning schedule!
Enjoyed your answers. I do love that show. It's been awhile since I've watched it though.
