Heart to Heart
Heart-to-heart conversations can be painful or fun, and I suppose a bit of both. Let's discuss it, okay?
1. Has a conversation ever made you change the way you see yourself? Yes. I often say that Joe rescued me. My first marriage left me feeling worthless. Joe changed all of that for me. We had some good heart-to-hearts back in the day.
2. What makes a conversation truly meaningful for you? Honesty.
3. How should a person handle a conversation that grows awkward... press on through or find a way to end it? What would you do? A lot depends on who and what, but changing the subject to lighten it up is one way to turn it around.
4. What's one conversation from your life that changed your perspective on something important, and why? I can't think of specifics. My family and my friends are all pretty much on the same page as me when it comes to important things in life. My Pastor is good at explaining scripture at our Bible study on Thursdays... I try to listen.
He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

PS: The roof was fixed yesterday!! They finally came around 1:00, but it didn't take them long to get it squared away. Fingers crossed that the leak is fixed!!

Aww! I am so glad you had that relationship with Joe and he rescued you.
ReplyDeleteI am one of those people who turns to humour to lighten up an awkward conversation.
Joe was definitely a gift from God to you! What a blessing that God have you that beautiful second chance at love. I love hearing your story. Also happy your roof is fixed and hopefully now all is well! Yay!!!!
ReplyDeleteI know you are missing Joe...I really do understand my friend. Wishing you a lovely day.

ReplyDeleteGlad the roof is fixed!
#3 “Changing the subject to lighten it up” is good advice. I've done that and it helps.
ReplyDeleteGlad your roof is fixed!!
Dear Terri, how sweet that Joe did this for you. Lightening things up in a conversation definitely changes the tone to a more positive outcome.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you were married before Joe. He was a wonderful man.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to read your marriage to Joe was just what you both needed! I usually say, 'That's enough of that for now, ok?! when I am done with a conversation.
ReplyDeleteA well-timed sense of humor can diffuse many an awkward situation! I, too, try and learn something new (almost) every day. I don't find there's much joy in a closed mind. (Been there, done that!)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post. You were blessed with a good husband in Joe! It's wonderful when a woman's husband is also her best friend! Glad you got the leak in your roof fixed. I hope it holds! I hope you are having a good week. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteJoe was the gem of a lifetime, Terri. Having a pastor who can make scripture come to life is icing on the cake. Blessings always, dear friend!
