Hello friends, and happy Monday! The weekends go faster and faster.
I have roofers coming sometime today. They said between 9:00 and who-knows!! Hopefully, they will be here early. It's my metal carport roof, not my house/shingles, and it's just a repair. They told me the sealer has cracked and shrunk from the hot sun. They are cleaning up all the old stuff, cleaning the metal, and then will re-seal it for me. Of course, the leak is in my closed-in lanai/den, or I wouldn't be so concerned.
On Friday, I had lunch with two friends from my Museum days. Kalisa is retired now from the Curatorial Department, and Marilyn was my part-time accounting assistant. When I retired, she went full-time and became the liaison between the Museum and the college that took over running the Museum (Florida Southern College). She is still in that position. It was fun catching up on what's going on and how mutual friends are doing. We spent a lovely couple of hours at Reececliff. We are planning to all go on a trail ride when the weather cools next month!! Kalisa is an accomplished horsewoman, Marilyn loves riding, and I'm only a trail rider, but I love it as well.
Anne, my across-the-street neighbor, invited me to lunch at Olive Garden on Saturday. Her hubby is still at the Moffitt Cancer Center. They were hopeful that he would get to come home on Sunday or Monday, but his counts are not coming up as fast as hoped (but they are going up!). She wasn't going to go this week, until they said he could come home, but he was a little down (she said), so she decided to surprise him and just show up on Sunday. I took her over after church. Hoping for Tuesday or Wednesday for them to come home!
My neighbors, Bob and Sandy, are Philly fans!! I asked if they had ever seen the movie Invincible, with Matt Walhburg as Vince Papale, and they said "no". It is a favorite of mine and, of course, was a favorite of Joe's. We decided to have a movie night on Saturday. They came over, and so did Anne and another neighbor, Susan. It was so much fun! I popped popcorn, baked some of those little pizza bites to dip in sauce, put out pretzels, and Sandy made peanut butter cookies. We munched our way through the movie, and they all loved it. If you haven't seen it, the story is true about a South Philly teacher/bartender who tries out for the Eagles and makes the team. It is done by Disney, so there is no bad language. There is a sweet love story woven through as well. I have the DVD, but I think it is available for free on a few streaming networks.
Church on Sunday, then I took Anne to Tampa. I got home to do my two loads of laundry and put my feet up.
The week ahead, after the roofers on Monday, includes a haircut on Tuesday, possibly picking Anne AND Paul up on Wednesday, and Bible Study on Thursday. Brooke and Judy should return on Thursday afternoon. If they are up for it, we will go to dinner with my Mas Verde group. On Friday, we have reservations for our airboat ride on Lake Kissimmee!! It's a busy week, but good busy!!
Thanks for your visit here today!! Your comments are always welcome.

What a fun evening (movie night) you had with your friends, Terri! I hope the roofers are there early so you don't have to wait all day. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have lots of fun things on tap for the week. I'd kind of forgotten about that movie and would like to rewatch. I saw it a long time ago and remember liking it. Hope all goes well with your roof repair. Have a nice week!

Wow, Terri, for someone who's retired, you sure stay happily busy! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the idea of your movie night! Yes, Invincible was such a great movie! Since learning Olive Garden is happy to substitute broccoli for pasta in its dishes, that's become one of my favorite places. 'Hope the roof repair is a "one and done" by the time you get this!
