Hello friends, and happy Friday! My week has been busy, but good busy!
On Monday, I took my friend, Cheryl, to lunch at Bonefish Grill for her birthday. I did post about that when I was catching up on Tuesday afternoon, but this is the photo the waiter took for us...
If you missed my post earlier this week, Judy and I worked together at the D.C. Chapter of the American Red Cross, Blood Services, back in the early 80s. Brooke is her daughter, who is now a cardiac nurse in D.C. It is so sweet to have friends from all walks of my life, and to still be in touch with them. Blessings!
Yesterday, I went to Bible Study in the morning, and the Mas Verde group went to dinner at Grillsmith. There were six of us, and it was very good. I brought half of my meatloaf home to have today! Anne was with us and shared her wonderful news that her hubby, Paul, gets to come home from the Moffitt Cancer Center (in Tampa) on Sunday or Monday. His marrow test came out very good!! They believe that the next test, in two weeks, will show that he is in remission. Praise God!! I will take Anne over to pick him up, whichever day they let him come home. It is just the best news, and your prayers are so appreciated!
Today, I am meeting up with a couple of my Museum friends for a late lunch at Reececliff!! We used to meet about once a month after I retired, but covid messed us up, and we just never got back in the habit, so it's been much too long since we shared time together. I'm looking forward to it.
Coming up, I have a free day on Saturday (to get some cleaning done!). Church on Sunday, and the roofers are coming Monday to fix the leak in my carport/den area.
That's all I have going on. My cousin Pam, in Ohio, lost her husband last week, and his funeral is this weekend. I am sad to not be there, but with my recent travel and the roof repair, I just couldn't do it right now. I love my cousins and (as Bob said) our generation is shrinking. Time just keeps going, and here we are now... the oldest generation still around. I remember my dad saying something similar at my Granny's funeral. It does give one pause as we reach our older years. We do know that the circle will be unbroken!
Our last "cousin reunion" was in 2015 at St. Pete Beach. Ten years ago. Only two of these people are still with us. Cousin Pam is third from the right, with John (who has just passed away) second from the right. Take those photos and go to the reunions... or organize one!! So important! (There were 26 of us together that summer!)
Thanks for your visit! Have a good weekend!
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by Lord, by and by
There's a better home awaiting
In the sky Lord, in the sky.

Oh, I am so sorry about your cousin Pam's hubby, and will be praying for her and your family. Yes, it seems our circle here on earth keeps shrinking, but the one in heaven is growing. So thankful for that hope and promise. I just pray for the ones here who still do not believe and don't think it's important enough to be concerned about it. That grieves my heart so much, but all I can do is pray for God to intervene before it's too late. I love that you are having such wonderful visits with friends. What a blessing! And so happy for Anne and her hubby. Praying he is truly in remission. What a joy. Have a blessed rest of your weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about this loss in your family. I know it's hard when you can't go to the funeral, but I also know that Pam feels your love.
ReplyDeleteYou've sure been busy lately - but lots of fun stuff!
So very sorry for your cousin's loss, Terri. When my mother was still living, my cousins from Massachusetts would visit with her once a year at least as she was the only one of that generation still alive, and it reminded them of their own mother, their sister. Now, we are the oldest generation and it doesn't seem possible. Have a blessed weekend, my friend!
ReplyDeleteI agree - I am so sorry for the loss of your cousin and poignant about the photo ten years ago only two left. We have to love when we can - and I know you do.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have lunch out with your friend and that your other friends are visiting again later in the month.
ReplyDeleteThat is great news that Paul gets to come home and the tests are giving good results, I am so pleased.
So sorry about your cousin's husband. Thinking of you.
Dear Terri, I am so sorry for your loss! Your photos are beautiful! It looks to me like you have a great support, and this is so much needed in our lives, especially when we go through hard times. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteI remember (from many years ago) when my grandmother said their peer group was dying off. And now, these many years later, I see it, too.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hate to hear of your family's loss. I agree, making the effort to connect while we're still alive should be key. (Pointing accusing finger at myself.)
ReplyDeleteOn a happier note, congratulations to Anne and Paul on his great news. There's going to be lots of grateful hearts there in Mas Verde next week.
You do such a great job of keeping up with people!! I feel like I do less and less of that as my life feels filled up with all the activities of "newer" friends and activities at our church. I really like the shirt you're wearing on a couple of those pictures.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures! You are so right that we need to catch up with friends and loved ones and take lots of pictures because someday, one of us won't be there. :(
ReplyDeleteGreat get together photos! I see a group of cousins when I go back to NY; so far all of us are still around but I know what you mean--it won't always be so!
