Monday Musings on June 2...

Another weekend is behind us.  How was yours?

The week ahead isn't too bad for me.  I see my dermatologist tomorrow morning.  I go every six months because she found a couple of pre-melanomas a couple of years ago.  I just stay out of the sun now, so hopefully she won't find anything this week!!  I have a hair appointment on Wednesday, dinner with our dinner group on Thursday, and that's it. I might get to either do some sewing I need to do or start painting my bathroom.  We'll see!!

☺ I do have two good reasons for not getting things done.  I posted this on Facebook yesterday, just to make sure all of my friends understand the trouble I deal with...

On a sad note, when I got home from church yesterday, this is what I saw in front of our homes....

There were five Lakeland Police cars and the coroner.  One of my neighbors, who lives alone, was found deceased.  Neighbor Deborah noticed water running out of Barbara's house and went to knock on the door.  No response to the knock or to her phone call.  Deborah called neighbor Bill, who shut the water off at the street and then looked in the windows and saw her on the floor.  They called 911 and had to wait because no one had a key.  She was gone.  That's all I know so far, but the Police were out there for several hours.  I didn't know Barbara (three doors down from me), but it is still scary, and being alone kinda hits home when things like that happen.  Six people have my house key, and they have permission to come in if they ever think I am in trouble or my cats need help.  Sigh.

I did do laundry and some cleaning over Saturday and Sunday.  We have had rain, so I haven't watered my tomatoes.  A couple are turning red out there, but no more flowers, so I think they are about done.  I still haven't planted my pepper seeds, and am now thinking about putting some basil and rosemary out there.  Maybe another tomato plant, but just one this time.  I had them too crowded.  I have been eating them these past few days with fresh mozzarella cheese and some Italian dressing on them.  Yum.

I am reading a new book and am enjoying it so far.  I don't usually like biographies or autobiographies, but because I love the British show The Repair Shop, I am enjoying reading Suzie Fletcher's book...

I also bought this book in hardcover (Suzie's is on my Kindle).

That's all I have for today. Thanks for your visit!!  Wishing you a blessed week ahead!

Peace and Hugs!

In nothing be anxious; should Jesus delay
His strength will be thine till the end of the day.
His arm thou canst lean on; His Spirit will cheer;
Then, wherefore be anxious, press on without fear.

  1. Hi Terri, many people would love ❤️ to have the trouble you're dealing with. I live in a large building and several people died in the last 6 months. Your cats are beautiful.
The books look good. I love the Scripture verse as well.

  2. I'm so sorry about your neighbor. One of my neighbor's passed away suddenly this month too. She had a brain bleed. Life is precious and unpredictable and while we know this, these sad occasions are a reminder to live and love well. I'm glad you have neighbors to check on you. Hope you have a good week Terri.

  3. That is awful about the neighbor. It is important to stay connected so someone will notice. With all that, I never expected Mom to call me one evening and say she was in for the evening AND then go out to water the plant. Not one of those senior ladies would have ever heard her calling for help, so I was so grateful for the young airman living in her neighborhood. He was out for a run and heard her. I had been talking to her about one of those buttons but she would not have worn it because she was supposed to have her pouch on with the phone in it. She didn't...
Take care and enjoy the day.

  4. I am sorry to hear about your neighbor's passing, Terri. The cats in your lap picture made me chuckle. It sounds like a low-key week ahead.

  5. I love that cat picture. I agree, hard to get things done when they hold you hostage!
I'm so sorry about your neighbor.
We are still loving The Repair Shop and are thankful you shared it with us.

  6. I understand the lethargy a sleeping cat on your lap does to your brain--and you have two! Beautiful kitties! Sorry about the neighbor.

  8. Sad to hear about the neighbor. It happens here too. We've lost quite a few lately. We're an aging population, so, I guess this will become the norm.
Your mentioning a dermatologist reminds me I need to make an appointment at mine. I've got a "barnacle" on my face that I can not get rid of. Best to have him nuke it for me. lol
Hope your week is easy and blessed. 🌻

  9. Such sad news about your neighbor, Terri, but it is a wake-up call for all those living alone without someone to check in on them on a regular basis. So glad you have lots of friends that do! Yes, your cats are quite the pair, aren't they? It's safe to say that they're mama's boys - LOL! Hope you have a wonderful week!

  10. I am so sorry about your neighbor. That is so sad when it comes unexpectedly and all alone like that. We had that happen to one of our sweet church ladies last year, right around Easter. She didn't show up for Sunday School or church on Easter, and that was strange. I tried to call her, but she didn't answer (and no answering machine to leave a message). We called her brother who lived across the street from her, and he didn't answer and no answering machine either. We thought perhaps they had all gone somewhere together for Easter, but still that seemed unusual. We also thought if something was wrong he would've let us know. A few days went by and someone stopped by her house to clean and found her there. Apparently she'd been gone for a few days...but her brother apparently hadn't noticed that she wasn't communicating. (He and his wife also had health problems). So it was a very sad situation. Yes, those medic alert buttons are very good to have. Our neighbor who was in the nursing home (where I got the cats from), is back home now, and she has a medic alert button. Nowadays they can sense if you fall, even if you don't call. Also I have been given a key in case of emergency, and her daughter lives 2 hours away. I try to check on her every day.
Okay, I didn't mean to write a book. Love the picture of you with your two kitties on your lap. They are so sweet. One looks a lot like my Sunshine! Oh, I hope you have a nice time at the hair salon! Always fun to have someone else do your hair! LOL. Always good to visit with you here. Have a lovely week.

  11. What a sobering experience! So many questions, and I can't comprehend how difficult for first responders.
Even tho' Troy lives less than an hour away, we don't chat but every couple of weeks; I think Barbara's situation needs to be brought up with my Bible study sisters next week. Every day is a gift. Hugs!

  12. Love the picture with the 2 gingers on your knee, so hard to get anything done. They reminded me of our Claude who has been gone 10 years now. Its sad about your neighbour. Medic alert bracelets are great if youre on your own Our kids don't have a key but know where the outside one is, it's been in the same place for 50 years now. Enjoy what sounds like a relaxing week coming up.

  13. Wow, that really goes through me reading about your neighbor. I guess we should give a key to Anthony and to a neighbor instead of relying on the one we hide outside.

Your cats are so precious. I love that photo.
