Monday Musings...

Hello to a new week and goodbye to my birthday week!!

I'll jump back to Thursday.  Early morning fasting labs, then Bible study at the church.

On Friday, Danon and Mali invited me to meet them for lunch at Tapa Tios and Danon treated me for my birthday.  It was so fun catching up with them and hearing about what's going on at Tenoroc.  I really do miss the guys.  I gave Danon cupcakes to take back to the office for a little Merry Christmas from me.  Hope they enjoyed them.

I mentioned last week that Tim (of Tim and Judy) had gallbladder surgery.  He is home and doing well.  Larry (of Sharon and Larry) is still not doing well.  He and Sharon bought tickets for a concert at our RP Funding Center and he wasn't feeling up to going.  He told Sharon to ask me to go, which she did.  I tried to pay for the ticket ($65.00!) but was told no.

Friends, it was the Vienna Light Orchestra Christmas Tour 2024 and the music was amazing.  All Christmas music, from the Nutcracker Suite to Jingle Bells and every hymn and jingle in between.  There were seven violins, five cellos, one harp, and five singers.  My favorite was Mary, Did You Know.  It always makes me tear up.  We were third row in the mezzanine and couldn't have had better seats for that kind of concert.  No pictures were allowed when the concert started but I took one of the stage just before.  It was fun being with Sharon for an enjoyable evening.  I'm just sorry Larry wasn't able to go.

On Saturday, I cleaned the house, got some gifts bagged and ready to deliver.  Placed another Amazon order for a few more things and started watching Christmas movies.  First up was Christmas Vacation and second was A Christmas Carol with Alistair Sims as Scrooge.  It is my favorite Scrooge movie.

Also on Saturday, I started sneezing and coughing and feeling like a cold was trying to take hold of me.  I started ZiCam, hot tea, and honey.  I decided to skip church yesterday.  If I am getting something, I didn't want to spread it around.  By afternoon yesterday, I was feeling back to normal.  Sore throat gone, no more sneezing or coughing.  Done, I hope!!  Did my usual two loads of laundry and made some soup with leftover (frozen) turkey.  I'll be eating it all week!

I am having lunch at Fish City Grill with my friend, Shirley, tomorrow.  It will be good to catch up with her.  I see my doctor on Wednesday.  My sister arrives on Thursday and we are off to the races through Christmas!!  I want to do some baking too.

Peace and Hugs!

Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee
Christ, the Lord,
the newborn King

  3. What a wonderful Christmas surprise, to be able to go to that concert! I can imagine it was really great! That was so thoughtful of them, even though it is too bad your friend Larry wasn't able to go. I hope he feels better soon. How wonderful that your sister is coming for Christmas! I didn't know that! I know you will both have such a fun time together! What a blessing for both of you! And how sweet that your "old boss and wife" took you out for lunch to celebrate your birthday. That was really nice! And even nicer that you sent cupcakes back for the boys! Sounds like you are keeping very busy in your retirement days! I'm glad that cold or allergy didn't hang on long and that you are feeling better now! We go to the Dr. this morning for follow up from our lab work. Then tomorrow John has eye Dr. appt. regarding setting up cataract surgery for after the holidays. Always something exciting going on, right? Gloria in excelsis deo! Love that song above. Have a wonderful week my friend!!

  4. So sorry that Larry is still not doing well, Terri, but what a gift to be able to attend that concert! That would certainly put anybody in the Christmas spirit. I haven't watched any Christmas movies so far this season, but I hope to do so this week. Blessings always!

  5. The roads are crazy right now! It's sad how many accidents have been reported just in the last couple of weeks. I pray drivers would just calm down, leave early, pay attention and get to their destination safely.
    We try to sing "Mary, Did You Know" in Church every year. It's one of my fav's too.
    Blessings.
