Monday Musings...

You all will be thrilled when I tell you that Mr. G finished the floors on Friday and I've got my house back!!  All the rooms are in order, with the exception being my den/workroom, which still has some sorting to be done, but I am SO HAPPY.  No more floor talk now!! I will get some photos done to share, probably on Friday.

I actually had a very nice weekend!! On Saturday, I drove down to Punta Gorda for lunch with my grandkids.  They surprised me because their mom came too!!  I hadn't seen Kathy in a couple of years so it was nice to see her and catch up.  Most of you know that Kathy is my former daughter-in-law.  Joe and I maintained a good relationship with her (and her husband, Jim) and she has always been good to us and is still good to me.

Fisherman's Wharf is all decorated for Christmas, so we had pictures in front of the tree.

Milton hit Punta Gorda hard, and there was evidence of that all over, including in the marina.  Very sad...

But the view from the restaurant, out on the bay was beautiful on a beautiful day...

I had a text later Saturday from blogging friend, Cheryl (Sunlit Pathway)!!  She and her hubby, Pat, are in Lakeland visiting their son and his family.  They asked if they could go to church with me (the family had work to do at their church - I think that's what she said).

Of course, they are welcome at Redeemer!!  Their granddaughter, Emma, was with them too, and we went to lunch after church.  Cheryl and Pat have visited many times, and they also knew Joe so our friendship goes way back.  Cheryl and I "met" first when blogging on Multiply, before we both moved to Blogger.  Such lovely people. Emma took a selfie of us at Glory Days Restaurant...

All in all... a beautiful weekend and the weather is finally also beautiful!!  No humidity and temps in the low 80s.  Ahhhhhh.....

The week ahead is pretty chill.  I see the dermatologist on Wednesday.  I have to go every six months because I had a couple of pre-melanomas a couple of years ago.  Bible study at church on Thursday morning, and dinner out with the Mas Verde group later on Thursday.  On Friday, I have lunch with my friend, Shirley.

Thanks for your visit!!  Tell me how your weekend went!!

Peace and Hugs!

  1. Yay for new floors! I will look forward to the pictures. Wow, the marina looks bad. It's sad, but Florida people somehow regroup and I'm sure they'll get it back in working order eventually. I can't imagine the insurance claims happening now. NC is still a mess in many places too, but of course these stories drop out of the news. Glad you had a fun weekend with the grandkids!

  2. What a super weekend you enjoyed! Everyone looks so happy.
Thank you for sharing these photos of Fisherman's Village. As you know, that used to be one of my mother's and my favorite places. It's weathered (no pun intended) many storms, but I've never seen losses like these boats/yachts.

I'm glad the floors are done, so nice to have your house back.
It's so nice you had that time with the grands and got to see Kathy too. Sad to see that damage though.
I saw Cheryls post on FB about you all going to church and lunch. What a sweet friendship!

  4. What a great weekend! Wonderful photos too.
I know you're thrilled to have that flooring done. Now things can hopefully feel normal again for ya.
Steve and I go to the Derma every 6 months too. Same reason. Our appointment is coming up next month.
    Have a delightful day. 😊

  5. So happy your floor is finally done!! I know you are happy to have that mess over and done with! Looks like you had a wonderful visit with your family! So nice that Kathy also came along. The pictures are beautiful of everything...but yes, so sad about all the damage from the storm. Wow! Glad I don't have one of those big boats! And so wonderful for you to see Cheryl and her family! What a blessing!! Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful weekend with us!!

  6. Yay, for the floor.
I hate that there has been so much damage with all the storms. For a time there, I could hardly stand to turn on the TV.
Glad you were able to see the grandkids and friends. I think on Thursday we will get our first feel of cold. Nights in the 40’s they say. Of course, that is not cold to some, but we Floridians do get spoiled:)

  7. I bet you are thrilled your floors are done! You have so many dinners out and you still have your girly figure. You have lots of friends. I see the boats on their side, and I am so surprised that they haven't been cleared out yet. Yes, lots of damage!

  8. Yay for new floors! I'm so glad you are pleased with them. I enjoyed reading about your lovely weekend. Wow - I've heard that there was so much damage in Florida. I wonder how long it will take to get all the boats upright, houses repaired or rebuilt, etc.
