The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 534

From this Side of the Pond

1. On January 18th we commemorate A.A. Milne's birthday. Milne is the author of the beloved classic Winnie the Pooh. In many ways Pooh represents innocence and simplicity. His optimism reminds us to appreciate the little things. What are three little things you're appreciating in mid-January?  Little things... A fun new series on Acorn TV called Under The Vines (about wineries in New Zealand); I'm trying Home Chef meals - no verdict yet, but not blown away; life is quiet right now.

2. Piglet teaches us even the smallest of individuals can achieve big things with the proper amount of determination. How do your current responsibilities make you feel?  In balance and not stressed.

3. Tigger is known for his enthusiasm and energy, his boundless joy and love of life. What's something you're interested in learning more about in this new year? I don't currently have anything I'm interested in that requires more learning.  I am happy just taking things as they come.  Added note this morning... my small group is starting a Bible study on Habakkuk next week and that will run for five or six months.  I am looking forward to it!!

4. Eeyore, while a melancholy character, teaches us the importance of resilience and perseverance. How do you stay motivated and persevere in difficult circumstances?  I have had to learn that it's all up to me right now.  There is no one else here to help, pitch-in, or shield/protect me from difficulties.  It's up to me and I'm getting it done.  And it's okay.  God is in control and He is my strength through each day.  (He doesn't do bathrooms and trash, though, like Joe used to do. Ugh.)

5. What's the last thing you ate that was made with honey?  I don't cook with honey often but do put it liberally on buttered toast and I have locally made honey.  My current bottle is from the Winkler farm (Joe's former ranch client).

6. Insert your own random thought here.  When I was driving to work yesterday, the local rancher's cattle were loose again on State property.  It happens frequently but this is the first time I actually saw them!!  I stopped the car, put the window down and took some photos while telling them that they were naughty and were in trouble again.  They really didn't care...

Peace and Hugs!!

I am Jesus' little lamb,
Ever glad at heart I am;
For my Shepherd gently guides me,
Knows my need and well provides me,
Loves me ev'ry day the same,
Even calls me by my name.

  1. I like Pooh, and Tigger, and Piglet, and Eeyore! As I type this I can hear Eeyore's sad voice talking.
I always like seeing cows. They don't seem to be bothered by you in the least. :)

  2. The Pooh story is so cute, innocent and teaches good lessons. I had a stuffed Eeyore when I was a young teen. It got thrown out when I grew up. Now I wish I'd kept it.
One of our neighbors has a massive wholesale Apiarist enterprise. He sells raw honey to local retailers.
I remember the cows running lose on Public land in Florida. They fertilize as they "go" you know. *giggle*
Have a wonderful day! Stay warm. xx

  3. Enjoyed reading your answers and I love the cow pictures. We have a farm behind us and from time to time I hear the cows, but rarely see them any more. I miss seeing the photos you used to post when you visited the farm of Joe's clients. Take care my friend and have a great day.

  4. Like Cathy, I miss your photos from your trips to the farm of one of Joe's clients, Terri. Loved seeing the "naughty" cows, though!
    Have an amazing day!

  5. I loved your comments and the questions about Winnie the Pooh. I love Winnie the Pooh and his friends. I am surprised you didn't have to pick the one you felt you were most like. I guess we all have a little bit of all of them in us.

  6. Nope, I don't suppose the Lord's in the business of bathrooms and trash detail. That made me giggle ... as did the expression on that cow's face.
The last honey I consumed was that experiment I tried -- marinating garlic cloves in a jar of the stuff and rotating it 2x/day for 2 weeks. I don't doubt that it's a worthy antioxident, but neither was it delicious.

  7. I love the cow pictures. I'm glad you're managing so well Terri, and I'm sure it's hard at times but your attitude is inspiring. We started doing some home chef meals during Covid, and will occasionally still order. I personally don't think they're as good as that first year's options were. I have to really watch the calorie count and the sodium which can be super high in a lot of the meals. Still, it's nice to have one every now and then and not have to think about dinner.
