Happy New Year Weekend Recap!!

I am enjoying the time I get to spend with Cheryl and Pat!  We eat breakfasts together and then they are usually off to see the kids and do whatever has been decided they will all do.  The manatees didn't happen on Saturday.  That is back on the calendar for today, I think.  Pat and Cheryl went to church with me yesterday. We went out for lunch after church and then they went to catch up with the kids.  I think the plan is to go to Disney Springs on Tuesday.  They tell me I am always welcome to join them but I still have stuff to do at home  I think we may get together Thursday evening for dinner.  There are 13 of us, if I join in.  I love their family but I'm not used to all the noise and chaos that goes with that many kiddos for more than a couple of hours!  I am such an old fuddy-duddy!! God bless them!!

On Saturday, I went to Punta Gorda to meet up with the grandkids, Lauren and Tristan.  It is always great to see them and we had a delicious dinner and a lovely couple of hours.  Tristan paid for lunch.  I took the ticket but he took it from me.  They spoil me now.

Here are some of the photos I've taken...

There was a 'regatta' going on and there were around 100 boats.
This boat, bottom right, is the Coast Guard, keeping an eye on it.

You can't really see all the boats and this is just the tail-end of them coming in.

The waitress took our photo.  Tristan's hair is a bit wind-blown.

This was my meal.  I usually get the coconut-crusted mahi.  It is delicious!
Tristan had it too, and Lauren had a salmon salad.

A selfie by Lauren...

This was taken outside my church yesterday morning. The sun was bright!

Pat took this photo outside Fish City, where we had lunch.

Yesterday evening, I went next door to Marlene and Duane's house for a little early New Year's Eve celebration.  Dee and Bill came, Deborah, Debbie, and Elva also came, and Deborah's son Tommy.  We all brought nibblers and enjoyed a meal and conversation for a few hours. I'm now settled in my happy place, cruising blogs and watching some TV.  Cheryl and Pat have a key if I go to bed before they get back.  They are off tomorrow to see some manatees and I will be doing some laundry and enjoying a day off from the office!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

  3. I fully relate to your statements about chaos. We want to be with groups of people but sometimes all the [everything] reaches a max with us and it's time to step back.

I've enjoyed this post and was so pleased to read about your visit with the grandchildren. Picking up the check -- what a mature, grown-up thing to do.

I wasn't especially hungry until I saw your lunch plate -- now I want some of that!!

  7. Gosh, that water looks chilly! I was going to guess those boats were a part of Gasparilla, but no; that doesn't happen for another several weeks?
Your mahi-mahi looks wonderful. That's pretty sweet how the 'kids' spoil you!
    Happy 2024!

They are growing up! Love that you have such good neighbors too! God knew where you needed to be when you moved there. Glad you've had a little time off to relax and enjoy the holidays. 10. Goodness! I didn't realize Cheryl and Pat were THAT Cheryl and Pat! lol I've never met Cheryl in person, but we've been online friends for many years. I'm glad you've had so much to do here as we transition from 2023 to 2024. I love that your grandchildren treated you to dinner!
