I had some time to spare on Wednesday, this week, and got some photos from around town to share here today.
I worked 8:00 - 12:00 because there was a 1:00 Memorial Service for a former co-worker from the Museum. Beverly was a security guard for us, for many years. When we changed security companies (which we did every couple of years) she would move to the new company so she could stay with us. She retired years ago but stayed in touch with some of us and lived near my friend (and hers) Kalisa. Beverly was 94, I think. Her ashes were interred at the First United Methodist Church, next to her husband's. The church is located on Lake Morton (the bird lake) and nearly next door to the Museum.
I had already planned to have lunch with another former co-worker, Marilyn, after the service, but she was running late at work - thus my extra time. (Marilyn didn't know Beverly.)
Here are the photos...
I take photos of the sign at Southside Cleaners, often. This is my view from the intersection when I am at the light and have a moment to snap a picture.
One of the many swans protected on our bird sanctuary, Lake Morton.
I met Marilyn for lunch at Reececliff. There is a new mural near the parking lot of the restaurant. Dixieland is the near-downtown neighborhood area where Reececliff is located. The mural is very cute.

Sorry about the loss of your friend. I love that she switched companies to stay with you.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great time catching up with Marilyn!
So very sorry for the loss of your friend, but she certainly lived a nice long life! Loved the pictures of the birds, etc., and of course the sign! Yes, that is a sad commentary on our times. Glad you had time to visit with your friend Marilyn and catch up with each other. Nothing like an "old friend" to have lunch with occasionally!! Love the verse of the song above, although I don't think I know the song, but the verse goes well with our stormy week!! Have a blessed weekend.
ReplyDeleteNice photos. The mural is cute. So sorry about the loss of your friend. Seems like all we do lately is attend funerals. At least we have each other for awhile. That teaches me to treasure each moment too.
ReplyDeleteHope your day is blessed. xx
I love the phots - that is why I like Florida - so colorful and it makes you happy. I am sorry for the loss of your friend. Are you Methodist? Did your church disaffiliate or stay? Just wondered. Nosey.
ReplyDeleteNot Methodist anymore. I am Presbyterian now PCA.
DeleteIt's fun to have lunch with a friend and catch up. I miss living close to my girlfriends. Love the pelicans!
ReplyDeleteThe cost of groceries .... we shopped yesterday and the total was shocking. We are paying more for a little indulgence than I expected.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.
Beautiful blog
ReplyDeleteSo saddened to hear about the loss of your dear friend, Terri. She sounds like such a devoted and caring person with her continuing work at the museum.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy your photos, too, and the details of your day this week.
Have a great weekend!
You enjoy an interesting life to say the least! Lots of good times with good friends. You are blessed indeed.
ReplyDeleteSo very hard having to say 'goodbye' to those whose presence was part of our lives! I need to take a page from you and make it a point to spend time with friends I don't see so very often.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for the loss of your coworker. I find pelicans fascinating...very prehistoric in some ways. They're fun to watch. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe have pelicans at Sylvan Beach, I love to watch them. Some years ago there was a white swan but it's been a while since I've seen him. Enjoyed your around town pics! Having lunch with friends is so enjoyable, hope you two get together again soon.
