Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  You can join in HERE!

Rocky Road to Dublin

Welcome to
Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: The Rocky Road to Dublin (2008)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song is about a young man who leaves home to seek his fortune. How old were you when you first moved out on your own?  I left home to get married and move to my first home as a bride. I was barely 19 years old.  It lasted 10 years.

2) He leaps onto a ship but the captain makes him sleep in the hold with pigs. Have you ever taken a cruise? (If so, we hope you had better accommodations.)  Joe and I went on a cruise about 30 years ago.  We both hated it.  We had better accommodations than with pigs but we still hated it.

3) This recording of the song is by The High Kings. Well-established in Ireland, their career reached new heights in March 2012. Right after playing for the Lord Mayor of London's St. Patrick's Day celebration, they flew to Washington to perform for President Obama at the White House St. Patrick's Day concert. Tell us about a time when you were so happy, you had to pinch yourself to make sure you weren't dreaming.  When I married Joe I was crazy happy.  When we went to Italy we were both pinching ourselves to make sure it wasn't a dream!!

4) This song was chosen because Friday was St. Patrick's Day. Do you celebrate this holiday?  I decorate a little and I always wear green. My maiden name is Kelly!!

5) Leprechauns are a symbol of St. Patrick's Day. These small Irish fairies are said to live in the forest, guarding their gold. Do you often wear gold?  I used to only wear gold jewelry but have since given it up for mostly silver, though I do wear them together now and then.

6) McDonald's has made Shamrock Shakes a St. Patrick's Day tradition. McDonald's began adding the drive-thru window to their restaurants in the 1970s. Would you rather order from the restaurant counter or the drive-thru?  If we are talking about McDonald's, unless I have to go in for a McPee, I order from the drive-thru.

7) A four-leaf clover is considered good luck. Do you have a lucky charm?  Nope.

8) Thinking of Lucky Charms, they are magically delicious. What breakfast cereal is in your kitchen right now?  None, unless you count oats and grits.

9) Random question: Think of your upcoming week. Which day will be the busiest?  After work on Wednesday, I have a hair appointment, and after work on Thursday, I have a cataract surgical consultation.  Yep. I guess Thursday will be a little busier.  My neighbor and friend, Dee, is going to drive me there and back since I was told there would be a 'super dilation' and I won't be able to see well enough to drive home.

Peace & hugs!!
Jesus loves us, this I know!!

  2. I am withy you Terri: I am not a fan of cruising; I have many charms for luck they all work, we never go to McDonalds, Friday is busiest, volunteering at the local food shelf.
    Have a great weekend.

  3. Your 'McPee' still cracks me up, Terri. I'm so sorry your cruise was a nightmare. I'd love to visit Italy again, but I'd have to get there by boat.

  4. Oh my goodness I giggled about the cruise 'cause we had the same experience! We both hated it. I'll NEVER subject myself to that again. I'd much rather fly somewhere, rent a vehicle or boat, and have our own fun.
    Fun post.
I hope your Saturday is relaxing and blessed. xx

  7. I bet that trip to Italy was beyond amazing. Partly for the place and partly because you and Joe were always so happy with each other's company.

McPee made me laugh. We always refer to McDonald's as America's bathroom because when you're on the road and nature calls...where do you stop?

  9. Regarding gold and silver, our wedding bands are a combination of yellow and white gold (to look like silver). My watchband has both as well. I like them and feel it gives me more versatility as I decorate myself (ha!).
