Another weekend is behind us. They do go too fast.
Friday, after work, I had lunch with my friend, Shirley. We went to Abuelos (a Mexican restaurant) and enjoyed our time together. I started a low-carb diet last Monday and it is not so easy to get low-carb in a Mexican restaurant, but I did have a nice fajita chicken salad. I almost laughed when the waitress asked if I wanted ranch or honey mustard dressing. WHAT? I instead ask for extra salsa. What is Mexican about ranch or honey mustard dressing? Anyway, it was more about the visit than the food and we enjoyed our time together. (And I've lost 7 pounds so far!)
On Saturday, I went out to hose down my car, which was covered still in pollen and dirt. While out, I walked across the street to visit with Dee and Bill. They were on the front porch with Princess, so she got some treats from me.
Sunday school and church were the highlights of my Sunday. When I got home, I did some laundry and a little cleaning. Marlene stopped by for a visit. Elaine called and we talked for a while, catching up. I relaxed with Flea Market Flip and more Lark Rise to Candleford.
Off to work this morning. We have our annual Children's Fishing Derby on Saturday. Some of you might remember this from last year...
This year, there will be a Clydesdale horse and I am excited to have my photo taken with a Clydesdale. I will also hold another gator if there is one this year!! Of course, there will be many young fishermen catching fish (but not me)!

I love that you work in a fun kind of place! I know you'd rather not have to be working, but at least it is a place where you can participate in fun things and see some neat wildlife, and even hold an alligator if you really want to. That sounds like a fun kind of job to me! Oh, congrats on losing 7 lbs. so far on your diet! I wish you success and still be able to enjoy going out to eat with your friends when you want to! It's all about making wise choices in what we eat, which isn't always easy to do. There are too many delicious temptations out there! But I know you will do fine because I believe you are a wise person!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great week and enjoy the fishing tournament on Saturday!! Peace and hugs back at you!
I agree with you about the weekends (and time in general) going by way too fast. Your meal at Abuelos sounded good; the salad sounded yummy. Well done on losing the weight. I look forward to seeing the pictures from the children's fishing event. Have a good week, Terri!
ReplyDeleteThere's an Abuelos in Myrtle Beach that we usually stop in once on each trip. There used to be one in our area, but they closed it down a year or two ago. Happy for you and your weight loss. Love the picture of you with the gator and looking forward to see you with the Clydesdale. Hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteGood for you shedding some pounds, Terri! As Pamela said above, you certainly do work at a fun facility, and can take time to be in nature and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Weekends do go sooooooooooooooo fast!
ReplyDeleteLook at you holding an alligator - you are brave.
Good for you on your diet girl - keep it up - say a prayer I am trying to lose weight too.
You have a lot of nice 'visits'.
Hooray for you - for losing 7 pounds and holding an alligator.
ReplyDeleteClydesdale horses are so amazing. I'll be looking forward to that photo of you with one!
How I'd love to 'meet' a Clydesdale up close and personal!
ReplyDeleteWhat? ... I'm shaking my head at that restaurant's choice of salad dressings. When I remember to do so, I've taken to carrying a little vial of oil and vinegar along in my handbag. 7# is significant. Yay, you!
Sounds like a great weekend but they do fly by...same with the months.. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat news on your weight loss, so far I've lost 20lbs and can't seem to get past that number. No carbs and no sweets, yikes!! We can do this. Meeting a clydesdale, that's going to be quite an adventure and I will be looking forward to a picture. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteYay for losing 7 pounds!! Are you following a plan? or just cutting out all carbs?
