Tuesday 4
TV Time
Welcome once again to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.
1. TV has become a part of daily life. How much TV would you say you watch weekly? Way too much!!
2. What is the earliest TV program you remember enjoying? The Mickey Mouse Club and Captain Kangaroo...

4. How many of the western programs and their stars did you watch back when westerns were popular fare on TV? How many do you recognize? Try not to look at the list below! I don't recognize any of them in the picture but recognize a few of the names below. The westerns I remember are The Rifleman, Bonanza, The Lone Ranger, and Gunsmoke.

From left: Will Hutchins ("Sugarfoot" Brewster-Sugarfoot), Peter Brown (Johnny McKay-Lawman), Jack Kelly (Bart Maverick-Maverick), Ty Hardin (Bronco Laine-Bronco), James Garner (Bret Maverick-Maverick), Wayde Preston (Christopher Colt-Colt .45), John Russell (Dan Troop-Lawman).
Prayer warriors, please pray for my dear friend Helen. She fell yesterday and broke her hip. She is in the hospital. As I type this, I haven't heard about surgery. The doctor hadn't been in to evaluate her yet when I was at the hospital. She is only 80 pounds. They have her on IV fluids but nothing by mouth pending possible surgery. I'm not sure she can tolerate surgery.
Sorry I didn't get to your posts yesterday. I will catch up.

So sorry to hear the news. A time of sadness for you.
ReplyDeleteOh Terri, I am so sorry to hear about Helen falling and breaking her hip. That is so painful and at her age and frailty, it will be a difficult thing for her to endure. Praying that God will comfort her and help her to not be in too much pain. Praying for the right decisions to be made regarding surgery, etc. I know this is upsetting for you as well. Praying for you now.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the westerns, etc. on TV, I loved them growing up. I watched The Rifleman, Bonanza, Rawhide, Wagon Train, of course Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Gene Autry, and so many more. Gunsmoke, Maverick...gosh there were so many good ones back in the day. It's too bad they don't have good shows like that now that are filled with action and not so much of the naughty stuff. LOL. I've never seen Yellowstone. Take care my friend. Praying for you and Helen now.
Terri, I'm so sorry to hear about Helen. In my non-medical opinion, 80 pounds seems so frail for a surgery. I'll pray for Helen, and for you, I know you were hoping to have her for Christmas...hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteDella
I will certainly pray for Helen. How sad she is in such a situation.
ReplyDeleteUpdate. Surgery at 9:30 this morning. They have to fix her hip. I really don't think she will survive this but I also know she is ready for Heaven.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to read that Helen fell and broke her hip.
ReplyDeleteI think I may have made it through the third episode of Yellowstone, but I got aggravated by one of the scenery chewing female actors in the show and could not watch it anymore. Parts of the show really seemed good, but that one actress just overpowered all of the good points of the who for me. I wish I would have seen the prequel to Yellowstone, and probably will at some time.
We recently watched the entire Longmire series for a second time in two years, and I could turn around and start watching it again in a week or two, but I am sure my husband would nix that.
May everything turn out well for Helen.
Sweet Helen is in surgery as I write. Praying for the best possible outcome for her. I hate she has to endure this but I understand they can't leave her with the broken bone. This has to be difficult for the surgeons, too with her frail state.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about your friend. I will lift her up in prayer. I'm so glad you said she is ready for heaven. Then whatever happens, is easier to take because she has Jesus with her.
ReplyDeleteSurgery delayed. Still in her room st 11:00.
ReplyDeleteI am sooooooooooooo sorry about Helen. I will send up a prayer.
ReplyDeleteI what way too much tv too.
I remember Mickey Mouse and Captain Kangaroo - but was it for me or my kids?
I can't get into Yellowstone either.
Love, sandie
Oh dear! Poor Helen. 80 pounds is not so good for a surgery. I pray for wisdom and God's mercy,
ReplyDeleteHi Terri: I have added Helen to my daily Prayers, we Pray for the ill three times a day.
ReplyDeleteWishing her a quick recovery with no problems, please keep us up to date.
I love westerns, Maverick was number on our watching list when I was young.
James Garner was a very decorated Veteran, an amazing Man.
Catherine
I'm so sorry to hear about Helen, I will certainly remember her in prayer. I loved all those old westerns, that's when I fell in love with James Garner aka Maverick!!
ReplyDeleteLike others, I'm so saddened by Helen's latest turn. I know it's all in God's control ... but how I hate that your heart is hurting.
ReplyDeleteTo the theme -- aside from Roy Rogers, Dale and Gene, I can't recall being hooked on westerns. Oh, I take that back. Bat Masterson. 'Still remember all the lyrics!
Oh, poor Helen!!! Prayers are lifted, Terri. Falls are so dangerous, but especially for the elderly. Keep us apprised!
ReplyDeletePraying for a good outcome to surgery.
ReplyDeleteOkay, now I have finally found this post and realize the reason for all the concern about Helen. We have a friend who recently broke her femur. She has been getting chemo for cancer for YEARS. She says she heard the snap and then fell. I think I have heard that many times the hip or femur breaks first and that causes the fall. Any idea if that may have happened to Helen? Not that it makes any difference. I'm so sorry for her situation and all that you have been having to do because of it.
