2. What are three words that might describe the kind of person you were this past year or describe in some way how your life looked? widow-sad-alone
3. What's something new you ate, saw, heard, or experienced in 2022? What did you think? I held an alligator!!
4. Oxford Dictionary has announced its word of the year for 2022, and it's this - goblin mode. Huh? Have you ever heard this phrase? Used this phrase? It's defined as "a type of behavior which is unapologetically self-indulgent, lazy, slovenly, or greedy, typically in a way that rejects social norms or expectations." I've never heard that phrase.
This year they allowed the public to choose amongst three finalists. You can read more about that here.
If you were in charge, what word would you declare the word of the year for 2022? I'm not up on new lingo. I don't listen to the news anymore. I do listen to oldies... Maybe we could give PEACE a chance again...
5. Any special plans for an end-of-year celebration in your house or town? The travel channel says the world's best New Year's Eve celebrations will happen in Copacabana Beach-Rio de Janerio, the Orlando theme parks in Florida, London, Sydney, New York's Time Square, Edinburgh Scotland, and Paris. If you could attend any one of these which would you choose? Tell us why? There is a NYEve party in our clubhouse, but I'm not planning to go. I got covid at an Orlando theme park last month. There is a reason I don't like crowds. That being said, I wouldn't want to attend any of those celebration locations. I'm an old lady... okay... I'm an old lady fuddy-duddy! Put me in my happy place with some British TV on the telly.
6. Insert your own random thought here. I'm tired. I'm ready for normal to return. Christmas has been fun with my sister here. We had a good time. I'm just tired of a full calendar and kind of emotionally drained by Helen's situation. Still trying to sort all of that out.
I pick a word each year…when I read the three words to describe you, I was surprised as your column is always about your million activities…I am such a recluse since Covid…to describe what I have read about you on your blog…kind, generous, active happy new year..
ReplyDeleteBrenda, going into the new year, last year, with all the "firsts" behind me, I still felt sad and alone. Being busy is good and I am blessed with wonderful friends and family. This second year without Joe has been very different. I'm okay, though I still miss him and do feel lonely, especially in the evenings. I just don't talk about it much.
DeleteI would imagine the evenings would be the hardest. That is the time you sit together and just be together. You have been a strong soul though. You have not sit down and given up. That is a good thing. I pray Helen gets moved back soon to her room and the Lord gives her some peace. You take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteI sorry for your sadness....I can't even imagine. So glad you and your sister had such a good time. Sisters are a wonderful thing. Holding an alligator must be interesting. Love the picture.
ReplyDeleteYou had a big year full of transition and change and finding a new way forward. You've done great! I'm glad you had a nice Christmas and visit with your sister and hope things get worked out for Helen in terms of what she needs. It all sounds really hard.

I feel God's hand in my life and can't praise Him enough. The gstor's mouth was taped shut and he was not fighting me. It was so cool to do that!!

ReplyDeleteI am in the same position.Many cases of whatever.. so many sick so I am becoming more and more a recluse.My big TV and joined HBO/Max and it is just wonderful. What a catalog and well laid out... Oscar winners, by Artist, so on. Well worth a trial if one comes by..though the Sopranos got me taking another couple of months. Its been so long since I watched it... :)
