Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!!  You can join in by clicking HERE!

Jack and Diane

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Jack and Diane (1982)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) The video for this song features lots of snapshots. Do you have many physical photo albums? Or do you store your pictures digitally?  I got rid of photos and photo albums (gave some to my sister, Tammy).  I scanned most of them and prefer having them at hand and not taking up space in a closet or on a shelf.

2) This song tells the story of "two American kids growing up in the heartland." Young Jack dreams of being a football star. When you were in high school, did you fantasize about stardom?  No, not even a little.

3) Diane wears Bobbie Brooks slacks (at least briefly). Bobbie Brooks is a popular brand at Walmart. If you had a $50 gift card for Walmart, would you be more likely to use it toward groceries, clothes, household items, or electronics?  It wouldn't go far in the electronics department.  I would most likely use it for groceries.

4) They go to the Tasty Freeze. If you were to run out for fast food right now, where would you go?  I wouldn't run out.  I would have something delivered but there are many restaurants and fast food options within five or ten minutes of my house.  China Wok and Domino's Pizza are two favorites (and they both deliver).  Right up the street is Chili's, Longhorn, Fish City Grill, Grillsmith, Crispers, Papas (Greek), Subway, Jersey Mike's, Abuelo's, Burger King, McDonald's... etc.

5) When John Mellencamp made this record, he was known professionally as "John Cougar," a stage name suggested by his manager. He has said that adopting a stage name is something he regrets. Looking over your life, if you could take a "do over," what one thing would you like to do differently?  I've answered this many times and it will always be the same. I wouldn't change anything because the past has made me who I am today and I am content to be who I am and right where I am.  Yes, I made mistakes but I learned from them. Life is too short for regrets.

6) Even though he suffered a heart attack, John Mellencamp continues to smoke, admitting that nicotine is something he simply can't kick. Do you have a habit you wish you could break?  Eating carbs. I admit to the addiction.  Pasta, potatoes, rice... So hard to stop.

7) John's daughter Teddi was one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She went on to join the cast of Big Brother. Do you watch any reality shows?  First of all, the "reality" shows are all rehearsed so they aren't really reality.  I do enjoy Swamp People, The Voice, the HGTV makeovers, and some of the cooking shows.  It's all good entertainment.

8) In 1982, when this song was popular, William Windsor was born. He's better known by his job title. Without looking it up, do you know who he is?  I don't have to look it up.  Prince William is a Windsor.  I have been watching "The Crown" over the past couple of weeks.  My first time watching it and I am enjoying it.

9) Random question: What do you do when you can't sleep?  I rarely have trouble sleeping but when I do, I just read a bit more. Speaking of reading, I just finished "The 56" and enjoyed it immensely.  Not my usual entertaining Cozy Mystery but I learned a lot and feel humble before those men who gave so much for this country.

Peace & hugs!
God is true, living, and everlasting!

PS: If you will, please pray for my sister, Patti.  She is in the hospital with atrial fibrillation, probably from the immunotherapy she has been getting for the melanoma she had removed. There are many side effects from it and irregular heartbeat is one.  Hoping they get her back in sinus rhythm quickly.  Thank you!

  1. Oh my, prayers for your sister! Those meds are so strong. My great-nephew is also having trouble. He has started chemo, but one component of it is the anti-rejection meds to prepare him for the transplant and he keeps breaking out in hives and wheezing when they give it to him. You got rid of all your photo albums? You are my decluttering hero! I haven't looked at mine in years (nobody but our daughter has) and I still can't part with any of them. Have a great weekend!

  5. First, prayers lifting for Patti! Please keep us in the know? I've way too many scrapbooks and loose photographs taking up room -- both in my chifforobe and in my heart. I keep promising myself to DO something about them someday. (Ya, right.) $50 sure isn't what it used to be, is it? My pick-up at WM yesterday was almost $90 and didn't even include meats or cheeses.

  6. I will definitely keep Patti in my prayer, Terri, and please keep us posted on her progress. I'm so glad you're enjoying The 56!

  7. Praying for Patti now. Hope they get it under control quickly. We just received a copy of The 56 from Martha Jane Orlando, as I won her little drawing contest! I was so surprised. So I am anxious to get started reading it. I have a cedar wardrobe that is filled with my photo albums and clear plastic containers of envelopes of pictures that never made it into albums. then I have flash drives full of digital photos that will never get printed. Someday our sons will have to figure it all out. LOL. I've tried to organize them as much as possible. They may never even look at them again...who knows? It's sad. But that's life. Please keep us posted on your sister's situation, and we will definitely be praying.

  8. Sorry to hear about Patti. I'll be praying for her.
I need to get working on scanning my photos. It's such a good way to save them.

  10. I had to go back to see what I missed about your sister. I just hate hearing about people with A-fib, since that is what I have begun to deal with in the past year. But the new blood pressure med they switched me to seems to be working to keep me from having episodes. I'm glad your sister has been able to go home.
