Monday's Weekend Recap...

I had a busy week and a slower weekend felt good.  I ate out too many times last week but it was nice to be with friends.

On Saturday, the cats let me sleep in a bit! I did some cleaning, straightened up some of Joe's desk now that his computer doesn't have to be there anymore. Threw some things away and I also took stock of some of the things in the shed that I need to tackle and deal with.  Getting there.

It was communion Sunday yesterday.  It is always such a privilege to eat at Christ's table.  After church, I went to Publix for a prescription and picked up a few things on my list.  Speaking of my list, I have started keeping my shopping list on my phone.  I never remember to take the list off the refrigerator so it is now on my phone.  I'm having my boss, his wife, and my new friend Vol-M over for dinner this coming Saturday.  I got everything except salad fixins.  Baked ziti and the trimmings.  Mrs. Boss is baking bread to bring and a bottle of wine.

Speaking of Publix... I read a couple of weeks ago that Krogers was trying to slip into Publix country.  No storefronts but they were to start delivery service.  I grew up shopping at Kroger, up in Ohio. It does compare well with Publix.  I saw this at an intersection a couple of days ago...  watch out Publix!

I do have a busy week with a haircut appointment tomorrow, a meeting with my insurance man about health insurance on Wednesday, Small Group on Thursday, and fasting labs on Friday morning. Not complaining. It is good to stay busy.

Wishing you all a good week ahead!!

Jesus loves us, this I know!!

  1. Sounds like a nice weekend...sometimes you just gotta stay home and get things done! LOL. But it sounds great that you will be having your boss and wife and a friend over for supper one night! I love how you love to entertain and enjoy fellowship with friends. That is certainly a blessing for you and for others who are blessed to be counted as friends! We are off to the lab this morning for John's fasting labs, and then out to breakfast afterwards, so I have my eye on the clock. Have a blessed and wonderful week. I don't think Publix has anything to worry about down here...too many loyal fans.

  2. We don't have either of those stores near us but we did love Publix when we visited Florida. Mmm baked ziti + homemade bread sound yummy.
    Have a great day!

  3. All of those little appointments do keep us busy. I have had something on too many days lately. I am ready to just be home. There is a Kroger and Publix together in Auburn. I LOVE Publix. I like parts of the Kroger but they are so unorganized to my logical thinking. I get a bit flustered trying to find my stuff. They have good stuff but they need a little organization. I won't even go in the one in Opelika for that reason, but they are always full.

  4. We have both Publix and Kroger up here in Georgia, Terri. I have to say, even though the prices are a bit higher, I prefer shopping at Publix - always clean, bright and welcoming.
    Enjoy your busy week!

  7. How cool, Kroger's coming to town! I miss shopping there -- but not as much as I missed not having Publix in Arizona! I wonder if yours won't feature some of the same amentities they began rolling out -- valet parking, cocktail lounge (in the wine section) and even a grilling station where you could pick out your own steak and they'd prepare it. Not that we ever took advantage of those things, mind you! LOL.

  8. It must be so difficult to go through Joe's things like that. I admire your strength and pray this all goes as quickly as possible.
Personally, I prefer Publix. We have a Kroger's in Waycross and I'm not too impressed. The prices are so much higher than "The Pig" (Piggly Wiggly) in Blackshear. It probably has a lot to do with who the Manager is and other factors.
Stay strong, be of good cheer, and have a gloriously beautiful week my friend.
    Blessings. xx

  9. I've seen the Kroger trucks here, too. While I loved the huge Kroger chain in Colorado, a big part of that was the shopping experience in the stores. I'm used to where I shop now and will stick with them.

Yes, you are so right, having something on the calendar is a big help. Love you girl!

  10. I don't have any experience with Kroger, but I do love Publix when I visit the south. I just booked tickets for Halloween weekend in Zephyr Hills, and yes, I will visit Publix! We have Wegmans here, which is grand, a bit pricey for some stuff though. It sounds like you're keeping busy enough. The cats let you sleep in, I had a good laugh about that, if it isn't one thing it's another, our pups do the same thing...after all these years of losing sleep with babies and small children, now we have Labradors, one of which cannot survive sleeping anywhere else in the world except for our bed...harrumph.

  11. We have several local Krogers in addition to Publix but I am just a confirmed Publix shopper. I went back to Walmart recently as it is closer to my home but I will pay more for the service and selection at Publix. Our Publix hires young people with mild disabilities to take out the groceries for customers. I like giving this young people a chance at a job. I think it is great that Publix does this.

    1. Kroger will have a hard time building a store in Polk County. This is headquarters for Publix. Publix is my grocery of choice, too!

  12. We also had communion yesterday!
I've never shopped at Publix but have heard good things about them. No Publix or Kroger in our area.
