Welcome to Tuesday 4 continued in the memory of Toni Taddeo, its original author
Let's do one of Toni's old questions this week.
1. What's your favorite thing to do when you have time on your hands? Read, watch TV, take a ride in the car, or read blogs!
2. Company coming tonight for dinner what do you cook? I often make something "Italian" for company but it could also be something simple like meatloaf or burgers on the grill.
3. The weather is perfect outside, how would you spend the day? Now that my knees are new and it doesn't hurt to walk, I could easily go walk on a beach or visit an attraction like Disney Springs or Tarpon Springs and play tourist! Or just take a walk! It's been 10 years since I could enjoy those things!
4. It's morning and you just got up, what do you have for breakfast? I am writing this on Monday so I made myself a breakfast sandwich on toast with some ham, bacon, egg, and cheese. Don't forget coffee and orange juice.
Joe Update: Yesterday was not a good day. Joe is frustrated and so am I. I hate that I can't be there to see him and hear about what they are doing to help him. Six days in the hospital and I haven't talked with the doctor at all. I finally was able to track down his nurse today but he really didn't tell me much of anything. I was concerned because Joe told me they gave him Dilanten today. Six units of Dilantin. I asked him if he had a seizure? No. Are you sure it was Dilantin? Yes, that's what he said. Well, that made my heart start pumping so after being directed to the wrong nurses' station and then to the wrong nurse, I finally got to Jose. He was very nice (and so was I) and did say that Joe got 6 units of insulin, not Dilantin. Whew! Even with his hearing aids in, Joe doesn't always understand what is said, especially when talking through a mask. We are both just frustrated. His vitals are good and his oxygen levels are still in the 90s without oxygen but his COPD makes it hard to breathe, without having COVID and being so isolated. I really need to get him home. For the first time during this, I am feeling helpless. Prayers, please! I am praying for a better day today.

ReplyDeleteItalian is a great go to for company!! Sorry to hear about Joe...that is scary when you think a wrong med is given! Hope he gets better soon and can get out of the hospital!!
ReplyDeleteUgh I'm sad to hear Joe is still in the hospital. Maybe you can get Joe to call you next time Dr comes in and put you on speaker. My MIL was in hospital during the summer (not Covid, heart issues). It was so hard trying to find out what was going on without being able to be there since there was no visitors allowed and she wasn't able to use her phone. So frustrating. I hope Joe is able to come home soon. *hug*
ReplyDeleteI saw your mention of Joe last night when I was reading blogs and went back in the posts to read the start....and I started praying then. I hope today is a better day and that you have better communication with the doctor and nurses treating him. That helps. My husband and I are both praying my friend. ReplyDeleteI am so sorry Terri. I think it is time to call and call and call until someone communicates with you. I will say a prayer that you get a call from a doctor to give you some real news and for Joe to get better soon. Being in the hospital alone may make his BP go up and too many carbs could have caused the need for insulin. Bug 'em until they call with more info. A big hug to you.

ReplyDeleteI can understand that it is hard for Joe to
breathe with a mask on and having COVID and COPD.
Ron (my husband) also has COPD but not the COVID
and he uses a breathing machine.
Hope you can bring Joe home soon.

ReplyDeleteOh Terri!! I am so, so sorry!! In any situation like this they always say two people's ears are better than one. Why aren't they at least reporting to you and discussing things with you on the phone???

Oh, Terri, I am SO sorry Joe is still in the hospital and you aren't getting any real answers. That is SO frustrating. And this business of not allowing anyone in to see him or see the Dr. is just WRONG. That's what the masks are for, I thought! Well, anyway, I have been praying and will continue to do so. May the Lord hear our prayers and bring Joe home very soon. Hang in there...God is with you and with Joe. May the Lord comfort both of you and give you peace. Amen.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Terri ... I would be livid, beside myself. Do you suppose his cardiologist might intervene? From what you've said, he sounds like a really caring individual. (I don't mean to insinuate the hospitalists aren't, but I suspect they're so busy and conditioned to guard their feelings.) Lifting renewed prayers right now!
