Valentine's Day
1. What is the meaning of Valentine’s Day in your country/area? What happens on this day? Valentine's Day is
what Joe calls a Hallmark Holiday. Meant to sell cards and candy... but we all know it is supposed to be all
about love. Joe and I exchange cards. Sometimes he gets me candy. This year, I would just be happy to have
him home!
2. Is Valentine’s Day more for men or women? Explain your answer. That depends on the people. It doesn't
mean that much to either one of us. We just don't celebrate Valentine's Day.
3. Do you have any special plans for Valentine’s Day? What will you do? We were going out to dinner to
celebrate the day and Jim's birthday but that isn't happening now.
4. Which traditional gift would you rather receive: chocolates, flowers, or a card with a personal message?
Chocolate is always good. I don't want flowers. A card with a sweet note is also nice.
5. Is Valentine’s Day only about romantic love? Or is it a good occasion to celebrate friendship as well? Every day
is/should be about love and friendship. Again, how and with whom you celebrate is up to you.
6. Do you like romantic movies? What is your favorite romantic movie? I'm not much into soupy romantic
movies but one of my favorites is always "While You Were Sleeping".
7. Have you ever received a Valentine’s Day card or gift from a secret admirer? How did it make you feel? Nope.
8. Is Valentine’s Day the most romantic day of the year? If not, what day is? We aren't a romantic couple. Every
day is special and sweet when we are together.
9. What is the most romantic thing you have done for another person? We don't do romantic.
10. Valentine’s Day is promoted by companies whose only interest is making money. Discuss whether you agree
or disagree. I answered that above. It is designed to sell cards and flowers and candy and (sometimes) diamonds.
11. Describe your perfect Valentine’s Day date. We have been married 35+ years. Just going out to eat is great!
12. How should a single person spend Valentine’s Day? What do you suggest? If you don't have a special person,
spend time with good friends. Just have fun. It really doesn't matter.
13. Do you enjoy playing cupid? Do you try to introduce people in the hope they will make a love match? No and
no,
14. Some restaurants charge higher prices on Valentine’s Day. Are you willing to pay more to dine out on this day?
If all they offer is a "special" meal, then we will go somewhere else or celebrate the day before or after.
15. Is a romantic gesture more powerful on Valentine’s Day or on another day of the year? I would guess on
any other day because it is 'expected' on Valentine's Day.

God sent us the best "Valentine" gift of all...Jesus...His Only Begotten Son...because He Loves us so much!! I hope Joe is feeling better and will be able to come home very soon. You will have to celebrate when he is back home and feeling better. (((hugs))) to both of you today.

Diana, Joe is in the hospital with COVID since last Wednesday.
DeleteWe aren't big on celebrating Valentine's Day either. Usually I get candy, a card + flowers. This year he was going to surprise with a day trip but the weather had other plans so we will do it another day.

A 'Hallmark holiday' indeed ... I'm going to borrow that one! I, too, would rather NOT get flowers. Appreciate the sentiment, but. It's neat to know some of my favorite folks don't need hearts and flowers to express their affection.

You and I share the same ideas about Valentines Day. For many years we would just go out to eat, usually a few days before or after. Much less crowded that day! We've also been married 35+ years and each year we seem to be content with less.

Terri, I'm so sorry I've been away from blogging for a few days and missed the news about Joe. It really is good news he's doing well, so thankful to hear that. Covid is so ugly. I am reading this on the day after Valentine's since some family came yesterday to take me to lunch. That was good. I am praying THIS DAY is an especially good one for you and Joe!
