Waiting for Tonight
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!
Saturday 9: Waiting for Tonight (1999)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) In this song, Jennifer Lopez anticipates a night of unbridled passion with the love of her life. What are you waiting for tonight? (No pressure; it doesn't have to be as thrilling as hers.) The next episode of whichever show we are streaming at the time! LOL We have tickets for our community's Soup & Sandwich box dinner. We will pick it up at the clubhouse and bring it home to eat. The proceeds go to the men's club (I think).
2) She sings that she's glad she's beyond those nights that found her tossing and turning alone in her bed. Did you enjoy restful sleep last night? Even with this cold, I have been sleeping through the nights. Praise God!
3) Whatever Jennifer has planned for tonight, it won't include alcohol. She never drinks liquor. What's the last adult beverage you enjoyed? I enjoyed a glass of red wine at Elaine & Jim's last night. They invited us over for pizza. We ate on the screened-in front porch to avoid spreading my cold germs. Joe, by the way, is fine and didn't catch this mess from me. He was just feeling punky on Thursday. I'm feeling better, but am still stuffy. The wine was medicinal...
4) Ms. Lopez performed "Waiting for Tonight" during last year's Super Bowl halftime show. Will you be watching The Big Game this weekend? We live in the Tampa Bay area so the Buccaneers are our second favorite team. The Eagles didn't make it this year so we will be cheering for the Bucs and are planning to watch.
5) Speaking of this weekend, The Weeknd will headline the Super Bowl 2021 halftime show. Are you a fan of his? I have never heard of The Weekend. Sorry! Typically, I am usually disgusted with the half-time shows. I would much rather see a good marching band do a half-time show. The Ohio University Marching 110 are AMAZING and my niece, Sara, was in that band for her four years of college (not in this one). This is from 2019. Take a look...
6) Super Bowl Sunday is the #1 day for guacamole consumption in the US. When did you most recently eat something with avocado in it? I can eat avocado and guacamole but it is not something I purchase and I only eat it if it is in something I ordered somewhere, like in a salad or on a sandwich.
7) Chicken wings are a popular Super Bowl dish, too. When did you most recently eat chicken? How was it prepared? Chicken Parm at Herby's Diner after Helen's doctor appointment on Thursday. It was yummy... at least it looked yummy, the meat was moist, and the texture good. I couldn't taste it.
8) This year, fast-food chain Chipotle will run its first-ever Super Bowl ad. Do you pay closer attention to commercials during the Super Bowl? If I'm not cheering for one of the teams, I do pay more attention to the commercials.
9) Random question: Are you more likely to pretend to be more naive than you really are, or more sophisticated? What a question! I don't think I have ever pretended either. As Popeye used to say, "I yam what I yam".

I love your last response! "I yam what I yam...I'm Popeye the Sailor Main..toot toot!" Good answer. I know the guys will be watching the Super Bowl here too, esp. since it is Tampa playing. I don't usually watch it, and I agree with you about the half time shows. Much rather see a good marching band. Glad you are feeling some better and that Joe didn't really catch the cold. That's good news. Praying you will be back to yourself soon!! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'd much rather watch a marching band, too, Terri. There's way too much hype surrounding the Super Bowl halftime. And I have no idea who Weeknd is either. I guess I'll find out on Sunday. Go Bucs!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby says he might watch the game. If he does I will be reading or in the other room. lol I'm not a sports person.
ReplyDeleteFeel better!
No SB here...at least, that's the plan. Thanks for the smiles, Terri. smiles
ReplyDeletePublix has some great guacamole. I have become addicted. It has been my go to snack the past couple of weeks. I am with you on the halftime show. It just gets worse each year. Jeff likes to watch the game, but we often turn it off during halftime.
ReplyDeleteWe do not even know who is playing in the Super Bowl.lol Just college football for us. As as for pretending to be naive, it is not pretense.lol
ReplyDeleteLoved the marching bands.. and the college bands take so much time preparing. Sure miss them.
ReplyDeleteThat box supper's a neat initiative!
ReplyDeleteNow I've got Popeye theme song playing in my head. :) Gosh, how many years has it been off the air and I still remember. We've not watched any NFL games this year, but pretty sure Tom's curiosity will win-out. I only hope no-one's seriously injured.
Myra, we didn't watch any of the regular season (which wasn't really regular anyway) but Joe did watch a couple of the playoff games and the SB will be on. Joe played all sports in high school and was quite good. He even won a baseball scholarship for college, but chose to go to Villanova instead. He loves sports. I have been impressed that he stayed away from the NFL as long as he did.
DeleteI yam what I yam too! Have fun watching the game. We are having BBQ...Kansas City is known for BBQ, we are smoking pork and having nachos and pizza using the meat. We also will have some cupcakes with Patrick Mahomes hair and footballs. I am super excited. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend!

Super Bowl half times have become more disgusting than entertaining, just my personal observation! My great grandmother always had a small glass of red wine before going to bed. She said it helped her get good rest and be healthy. She lived to an old age, so I guess she may have been right. :) BTW, I've never heard of The Weekend either. As for guacamole, fill me up, I love it. Hope you and Joe have a great day, and you get better and better.
ReplyDeleteI never cease to be amazed by all the community you guys have there. It is wonderful and I'm glad you have it! I'm with you, I'd rather watch a good marching band that the overdone shows they have. Think of the money they could save...of how much cheaper tickets could be. Glad you are feeling better. Have a great Sunday! I'm excited, Tim is going to go to church with me.
ReplyDeleteFinally catching up with you here. I'm so sorry you've got a head cold. I haven't had one in two years and I'm hoping to keep it that way. That one lasted long enough that I should be good for the rest of my life, lol!
ReplyDeleteWe'll be watching the Super Bowl here at home by ourselves. I miss those barn parties over at Anthony's. But not this year.
Wow, what interesting questions this week. I don't even watch the Super Bowl. Neither of us are football fans here. I will probably be watching something on YouTube or Netflix.
ReplyDeleteI yam what I yam too! I hope you are soon feeling better and enjoy that game tonight. We aren't football folk, so will be streaming something tonight - probably Old Tricks!
