Well, as you might expect, I don't have much to share this week. On Monday, before Joe was sick and our COVID journey began, Elaine and I went to a nail spa to have our toes done. She had never had a pedicure before and I hadn't been for over a year (before my first knee surgery) so it was fun to sit next to each other and be pampered a bit. My ugly feet at least now look like someone cares about them!!
On Sunday, while Joe and I were watching our church service in his office, I happened to look into the kitchen and saw this... Vinny loves to get on top of the cupboards to sleep.
And most of you probably saw this on Facebook. We got our monthly delivery from Chewy and this is what it looked like. A box of canned food was missing and the dog treats were smushed. They have replaced the treats and the missing food but I may change to Amazon for cat deliveries. Chewy doesn't handle heavy cat litter well. This isn't the first time but it sure is the worst...
I'm writing this on Thursday night so don't know yet if Joe gets to come home today (Friday). Sure hope so. He was feeling good and sounded great on the phone. Prayers offered and fingers crossed, too. Thank you to all who are praying. I heard from so many family members and friends yesterday. We so appreciate all the love and all the prayers! Thank you!
Noon Friday Update: They aren't letting Joe come home until his heart rate comes down. He is still breathing okay. They did another chest x-ray this morning but he hasn't heard about the results yet. I am concerned about the heart so I texted our cardiologist this morning to let him know Joe has COVID and is in the hospital with an increased heart rate. God bless him... he called for a consult and they are reviewing the medications to make sure Joe is getting the heart support he needs. I feel much better knowing Dr. Owen is now involved. Joe's room got cleaned, he finally has a menu for meals and got a bath and clean sheets this morning so is feeling much more human (his word). Continued prayers appreciated and thank you for them!!
That box from Chewy is in bad shape. I'm glad they are giving you replacements without a hassle.

Fingers crossed that Joe does get to come home today. I dont blame you for wanting to change companies to get your food and treats for the cats. Happy

ReplyDeleteThat's shameful how the Chewy box was done. I've been getting pet supplies from 1-800-PETSMeds.com. So far, so good on the packaging. There's local folks that carry the dog food we use: Taste Of The Wild. It's grain free and the dogs love it.

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to read that Joe has tested positive for COVID. I find it hard to understand why they would not test you. You did lose your sense of taste and smell. But if you are quarantining anyway, I guess it doesn't make any difference. I pray that Joe's lungs will stay clear and that he will be able to come home today.
ReplyDeleteThat Chewie box is pathetic. We got plenty of Chewie deliveries when we were keeping our grand cats, and they all were in fine condition. But you are right, that litter is HEAVY. I was never able to bring the box into the house. I had to open it outside and bring things in separately.
We've been customers of Chewy for years now, but never saw anything like that! Wow, not good. 😠 So glad you texted Joe's cardiologist and he's 'on it.' Praying and believing God's blessings!
ReplyDeletePraying for Joe to get the attention he needs now that his Cardiologist is involved. Praying all goes well and he will soon be back home and back to his "old self". Loved all your pictures. I have myself a pedicure last night, and it doesn't look anywhere near that nice. I just cut and cleaned my toenails...no polish yet, but I guess I need to as I wore sandals today...it's time for polish. I've never had a professional pedi, and I told John last night I'd really like to have one sometime. I may have to treat myself one of these days. Keep us posted on Joe. (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Terri! I missed hearing about Joe earlier. I sure hope with his cardiologist involved that they can get him fit as a fiddle (or at least good enough to come home) in no time! Keeping you both in my prayers!

ReplyDeleteWe will have a few of those crushed Chewy boxes ourselves.The worst is when the whole bag of dog food is open inside the box. I refuse to give it to the dogs because I dont know what could have happened to it - Chewy's has been good about sending out another bag - but what a waste of so much stuff.
