Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 405
2. January 26th is Australia Day. Have you ever visited or lived in Australia? No. Have you ever tasted Vegemite, and if so what did you think? Never heard of it. Is a trip down under on your bucket list? No. We answered a question about travel three months ago (the October 21st Hodgepodge), but let's revisit now...where are you when it comes to planning or even imagining travel this year? We are not planning a trip so far. Just hoping to get the vaccine shots and get the numbers down a bit.
(I looked up vegemite and decided they can keep it in Australia. Looks and sounds just awful!)
3. Something that zaps your energy? Drama. Bad news. Cleaning the house. Something that energizes you? Having a clean house!! LOL Having someplace to go that is fun. Having my dear friend right next door, motivating me to get out and walk.
4. On a scale of 1-10 what are your eating habits like these days? We both snack too much at night but our habits haven't really changed with the pandemic. We try to eat balanced meals so I'll say a 6.5. We don't juice!! LOL (1=all junk food all the time and 10= juicing every green thing in the frig) Healthiest meal you've eaten in the last week or so? We had t-bone steak, a baked potato, and cucumber and onion salad last night for dinner. That was maybe not the healthiest but it was balanced... at least until the strawberry shortcake for dessert.
5. What's your most often 'Back in my day....' thing to say? Back in my day kids had to learn about how the government worked, had respect for the flag, and knew the history of our country and of our state.
6. Insert your own random thought here. We are waiting and waiting for the health department to call us with an appointment for the vaccine. Two weeks ago they said it would probably be this week. Our county got a new shipment on Monday that was supposedly more than the previous week. Many of our friends here in our community have had their first shot so hopefully, our names are rising on the list. We are also responsible for Helen, who is 92 (almost 93). Sigh. Keeping my phone close at ALL times!! If you don't answer when they call, you get bumped to the next week.

One of my fave I Love Lucy episodes was the vegemite one. I've had a few Aussie online friends. Some love it and others hate it. I never tried it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Isn't that awful, waiting by the phone? So sorry you have to, Terri. I hope you have a beautiful day, friend. smiles
ReplyDeleteOh Terri, we are LOVING New Tricks. So glad we have a "story" that will last a while. We watched the last episode of Shtizel yesterday and now we have to wait a good while for a new season. We are also waiting for our vaccine. Hopefully it will be available soon, after all our new president says he is speeding things up. ( If you believe their line.lol)
ReplyDeleteWe got the call today, Arlene, and out appointment is tomorrow afternoon. So glad!
DeleteI'm waiting and waiting, too, Terri, and it's no fun at all! Good luck with the health department. I thought I had an appointment with them this past Monday only to wait in a car queue for and hour to find out their computer site overbooked and they didn't have enough vaccines. Talk about infuriating! Hope your department is a lot better organized.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
We got the call today and we go tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon. Supposedly our state is holding back a supply to make sure folks get their second shot. Hope that continues so we can be done with it in 3-4 more weeks.
DeleteYour avatar memes are so clever!
ReplyDeleteTrust me, you don't WANT to taste vegemite. Ever. Love what you said about 'Back in my day." It feels good, being in good company. 😊
I've eaten Vegemite--no thanks on a second spoonful.
ReplyDeleteHaving a messy house zaps my strength. I NEED a clean and organized home--that energizes me and relaxes me.
I feel like the distribution is not well managed. I don't understand why they don't let the doctor's office handle it. There would be less waste and they already have data bases. If someone is a no show they know which of their patients to call to come in and use up that day's doses. Hope your name is called soon. My 90 year old mom in NJ won't get her first dose until April 30th. Crazy! Strawberry shortcake sounds good right now : )
ReplyDeleteWe got the call today and go tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon.
DeleteSure hope you and Joe can get your vaccines soon. We're up for our 2nd one in a couple of weeks along with my 92 year old Dad. Blessings abundant!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you got the call and that you can get your shots. We are waiting for our Dr's office to get the vaccine and then he will call us. The wait has been long here in the county. I am happy for strawberry season here in FL. I had some fresh ones today with my lunch. I wish I was close enough to get some fresh from the fields, but Publix has close enough. Cleaning house wears me out too. I do like a clean house, I just don't like to be the one doing it. LOL. Oh well...hubby helps as much as possible. Have a good night.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the eating habits. I honestly really well throughout the day. I eat very little and it's healthy stuff. Then dinner comes. And dessert... it's the night time stuff that causes my weight gain. :(
ReplyDeleteMy husband drives a city bus and has cancer but because he's only 63 and not 65, he's not eligible yet! It's crazy. I hope you get yours soon.
We call it Marmite here not vegemite and it's definitely a love or hate kind of thing lol. (I hate it.) Loved Last Tango in Halifax - such good actors in the cast. I've watched it all over time. Hope you get your vaccines soon.
ReplyDeleteAmen with your back in my day response! Kids are CLUELESS these days!
