Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  You can join in HERE!

Thank U, Next

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!

Saturday 9: Thank U, Next (2018)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In this song, Ariana Grande thanks her former boyfriends for what they taught her about love, life, patience, and pain. Do you believe you have learned more from your successes or your mistakes?  I don't know. I think we learn from both but I remember making the mistakes more than I remember something that was successful. I just learn from life in general... but I'm old and have been around the track a few times.  Won a few races, sprained a few ankles, and broke a few bones. You just learn (hopefully)!

2) One of the young men mentioned in the song is Pete Davidson, a cast member of Saturday Night Live. SNL has been on for more than 45 years now. Who is your all-time favorite cast member?  Hands down, Gilda Radnor. Loved her!!

3) Thinking of funny people ... As you can see from the video, Ariana performed "Thank U, Next" on Ellen Degeneres' talk show. Ellen makes people laugh every afternoon. Who in your life can you always count on to make you laugh or smile?  Joe.

4) It looks like Ariana Grande's personal romantic saga will have a happy ending because, at Christmastime, she announced her engagement. Do you know anyone who is getting married in 2021?  Blogging friend Joyce's daughter!!

5) Ariana loves Harry Potter and named her dogs Snape, Lily, and Sirius Black after characters in the J.K. Rowling books. Are you a Harry Potter fan?  I loved the books and read them with my granddaughter, Lauren, back when they first came out. We waited for the next ones and couldn't wait for them to come out. We even went to Books a Million at midnight for one of the releases. I am not a big fan of the movies though. Was over it by then.

6) She loves board games, especially Monopoly. Sam isn't crazy about Monopoly because it takes so long. How about you? Are you a Monopoly fan?  I have great memories of playing Monopoly with cousins on New Year's Eve when we were kids and also playing with the grandkids.  If someone wants to play, I'll play but it isn't on my top 10 list.  We have Catopoly and it is cute.

7) In 2018, the year this song was released, Toys R Us closed all its stores and went out of business. Who received the last toy you purchased?  That depends. Toys R Us toys would have been grandson Tristan. What was it?  For Tristan, it was probably a Bionical. For Joe, it was his smartwatch that he got for Christmas. It IS a toy.

8) Also in 2018, Aretha Franklin died. What's your favorite Aretha song? I love most songs by Aretha but will say RESPECT!

9) Random question: Are you more likely to shed a tear at a wedding or during a movie?  Oh heck, I am a weeper. I cry at weddings, funerals, movies, TV shows, or when I see anyone crying. I cry when I laugh, too!

Peace & hugs!!  Jesus loves you!!

  1. I cry at the same things you do, Terri. I guess we're both just sentimental gals! I loved Gilda Radner, too, and was so sad when she passed away.
    Have a blessed Saturday!

  4. I loved Rosanne Rosanna Danna. In fact I was quoting her the other day....Its Always Something.lol I also liked Jane Curtin...she was often the butt of the jokes but I liked her a lot. I guess I think that the first SNL group was the best.

  5. Another grandma who reads books with the kids! Hooray!
I have a couple special edition Monopoly sets and they are so much more fun than regular Monopoly. A lot of that may have to do with it taking a lot less time to play them. Happy weekend, Terri!

    1. Lauren is 31 now, but I hope she remembers those days as fondly as I do!

  6. I'm a crier at weddings and graduations. That processional music gets me every time! I don't believe I've ever seen a single episode of SNL; even then, that kind of humor escaped me.
BTW, we bought the Blue Diamond skillet and LOVE it. Thanks for the tip!

  9. This was fun. I will always remember RESPECT. That was a great song. I never watched SNL, except for seeing some segments in reruns, etc. We never stayed up that late, esp. on a Saturday night because while in the ministry we had to be ready early for church the next day. So we missed that program, but certainly I do remember about Gilda Radnor, as she was Gene Wilder's wife, and he loved her so much. At least that's how it appeared to me. Never read a Harry Potter book. My kids were grown by then, and my grandson was too far away. Never did much shopping at Toys R Us either. We used to order toys from the Sears or Penney's catalogs every Christmas. We lived in small towns too far away from Toys R Us, and again, our kids were pretty well grown by then anyway. I must be old. LOL. "Sad movies always make me cry". And weddings, and funerals, and oftentimes I cry when I laugh so hard I cry and pee my pants. LOL. That should bring out some tears from everyone! LOL.
