Feels like the First Time
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9
questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here are today's questions!
Saturday 9: Feels like the First Time (1977)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
Welcome to the first Saturday 9 of 2021!
1) Look up from your screen. What's the first thing you see? The TV.
2) Looking back at 2020, what surprised you? The pandemic and all that came with it.
3) Have you made any resolutions for 2021? Nope. I haven't made resolutions in years and years.
4) In Italy, it's said that if you wear red underwear on New Year's Eve, you'll have good luck all year round. Do you have a lucky charm? No. I don't believe in lucky charms and I sure don't have any red underwear.
8) In 1977, when this song was popular, Star Wars was breaking all box office records. The Spy Who Loved Me, a James Bond movie, was also a hit. If you were going to binge on one of these film series, would you choose Star Wars or Bond? Bond, James Bond!!
9) Random question: Would you rather have nothing but green lights for all of 2021, or never have to stand in line for anything all year? Well, I have confessed my problem with impatience so I don't like red lights OR standing in line but I will choose never to stand in line for anything (meaning there won't be any shortages!).

5) In Spain, some New Year's Eve revelers believe that, at the stroke of midnight, you should eat exactly 12 grapes, one at a time and one right after the other, to bring you luck for the next twelve months. Did you have anything special on your New Year's Eve menu? Nothing special. Just some mini sandwiches, crackers, a cheese, fruit & veggie tray, and some little smokies. Elaine brought a yummy chex mix and Judy brought a plate of cookies, also yummy!
6) In this week's featured song, Foreigner lead singer Lou Gramm lets us know that he'd sail across a stormy sea to reach his true love. How is the weather where you are today? Are you kicking off 2021 under calm skies, or is it stormy? Calm skies and back to our normal winter weather with temps in the high 70s again. Yay!!!

7) In the 1990s, Gramm joined forces with Billy Joel in a series of concerts to preserve the Montauk Point Lighthouse. Do you have a favorite Billy Joel song? I have always liked Billy Joel. Piano Man, Uptown Girl, She's Always A Woman... good stuff!

We had a quiet or at least I did. Jesse had gone to a friend's house to spend then night, Rumor was on a trip with a friend's family and Murphy and Jennifer went to a get together with a few friends, so I just sat and watched tv. I didnt make it to the ball drop tho! Our weather has been unusually warm but going to get cold again this coming week. I enjoyed Billy Joel and of course James Bond. Enjoy your Sat.
ReplyDeleteNo resolutions for me, either, Terri, and no, I don't own red underwear - lol! And I'd much prefer James Bond to Star Wars.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, my friend!
Believe or not, this mild mannered girl who really loves country music loves Foreigner. I can sing all the songs on demand:) Another fun thing is that growing up all of my family at one time worked at Vanity Fair. My grandmother would always bring us the items that didn't make the cut. Still great but not always expected for nice little Methodists! I had purple bras and red panties. I just chuckle to think about it. My purple bra was one of my favorites not because of the purple but because of the fit. My grandmother wore a leopard robe all the time. We were wild, but only in our VF undies and robes. We were very very tame in actions. I don't make resolutions, but I did hear a sermon about choosing one of the fruits of the spirit to work on each year. I am mulling it over between two at the moment. HNY.
ReplyDeleteNo shortages is a good reason to not want lines. I chose it because of my feet! Yes, all that came with the pandemic was surely a big surprise. Well, let's hope and pray this year is a better one for everyone. Happy New Year and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteNo red underwear for me either. I remember one time my dad bought my mother a beautiful bright red negligee/peignoir set. It was very pretty, but I don't know if or when she wore it, but then again, that was none of my business. I was still in high school. Actually, I wore it in our senior high school play...) it was very modest (and not see through, trust me, or it would never have been approved...I was supposed to be some gambler's side kick or something like that...can't remember the plot too much now)LOL. Your New Year's eve menu sounds good. So happy you had friends over. I also prefer James' Bond 007 (Sean Connery) movies to Star Wars. Happy New Year!!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! You are right, we do have a lot of the same answers! That is cool. Your NYE get together sounds like fun! Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

No red underwear for me either! Not. that I have anything against them, I just don't have any. No, no, no, I don't like to stand in lines and avoid it as much as I can. I also like Billy Joel.
ReplyDeleteNo resolutions here, either. I sure don't want to set myself up for failure. Your NYE menu sounds perfect; good friends and good food. What's not to love?
ReplyDeleteOh, Terri, I'm with you, no standing in line for me either and wish there were no red lights. I'm destination driven and my husband is journey driven. :o)) Wishing you an abundantly blessed 2021!
ReplyDeleteWHAT? No red underwear? LOL. Neither me....lol
ReplyDeleteLove your answers. Happy New Year to you and your hubby! xo Diana
