We had a very busy long weekend! Our dear friends, Elaine & Jim, arrived on Wednesday evening. They got the keys from us for the house next door and we helped carry some of their things in. They have their sweet Brittany Spaniel, Bella, with them. Bella is beautiful and so sweet! I need to get a picture of her but I swiped this one from Jim's FB page. She is a well-trained hunter, too.
We invited them to have dinner with us. I made baked ziti, had a salad, and some garlic bread. We had ice cream for dessert. New Year's Eve we had a little 'party' with Jim & Elaine and Judy & Tim. We talked a lot, had some good laughs, and enjoyed the evening with some snacks and beverages. Tim & Judy left before midnight, but Jim & Elaine stayed until the ball dropped. New Year's Day, we had Jim & Elaine and Helen & Cheryl over for the traditional pork, kraut, and black-eyed peas. I also served corn and rolls (brought by Elaine) and Cheryl brought a small cake and a pie. We ate well. I finally remembered to take a picture and then realized later that Elaine's eyes are closed and Joe is chewing... Oh well. It was a good celebration.
On Saturday, I took all the Christmas decorations down and got them packed up while also doing the laundry. Jim came over and helped us (well he did it) put the boxes up in the shed's loft for us. What a blessing that was!
They went to church with us on Sunday and then took us out after to eat lunch at Shells. We all had some yummy seafood.

Today, Elaine and I are going to take a walk and start trying to at least stop gaining weight, if not losing some!! When it warms up a bit, we will give Aquafit a try up at our clubhouse pool.
So that is how we ended 2020 and how we began 2021.

I am so glad to see you are enjoying the neighbors. Bella is beautiful and will be a fun little pup. They are akin to my Gus, the Springer Spaniel. Lots and lots and lots of energy and always up for a chase of a squirrel. If your kitties go outside they are going to love to chase them too:) All three are adorable.
ReplyDeleteOur cats never go outside but they don't like Bella invading their space! We had big tails and hackles on the backs when she came over. Bella wants to play. Maybe they will settle down after a few more visits.
DeleteA good ending to 2020 and a good beginning to 2021. May we all continue to rely on the Lord for whatever comes. At least we know nothing surprises Him and He will be faithful through it all.

ReplyDeleteIt's so nice that you and Joe were able to spend New Year's with good friends. With them living next door I can see a lot of good times for all. Years ago our neighbor had a springer spaniel, he was beautiful, and nosy!! He was always at the fence watching us, it was funny.
