Santa Baby
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!
Saturday 9: Santa Baby (1987)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) In this song, Madonna refers to Santa as "baby," "honey" and "cutie." What's the most recent endearment someone called you? Yesterday was my birthday so I heard 'honey' a couple of times, and 'love you' quite a few times! I am so very blessed!
2) At the top of her list are a fur coat, a new convertible, and a yacht. If you could receive any of those luxury items, which would you choose? I don't need a fur coat in Florida and I couldn't afford to dock or run a yacht so I guess the convertible (which I could turn around and sell). Convertibles are crazy for Florida because the sun is too hot - for fair skin, anyway.
3) She would like to decorate her tree with ornaments from Tiffany's. Do you have a favorite holiday ornament or decoration? I do and already posted them a few days ago, but here they are again. Lauren is 31 and Tristan is 24 so these have been on our tree for many years!
4) "Santa Baby" was written in 1953, before electronic payments. While her wish list includes blank checks, a 2017 survey revealed that 51% of consumers felt check writing was "a pain." Who received the last check you wrote? It has been a long time so without getting up to go look, I have no idea. Probably the cleaning lady back in October. Who most recently gave you a check? I can't even remember. Probably it would have been back in 2019 when I had that part-time job working at a doctor's office. I got paid every two weeks by check and worked there for about 8 months. He is retiring at the end of this year and I actually stopped in on Thursday to see him and wish him a good retirement. I think he was happy to see me. The woman who took my place texted me about his retirement and I told her I would stop in. It was good to see her too. I enjoyed that job and only quit to get my first knee surgery done.
5) Madonna has been a successful singer for decades, and 1985's "Into the Groove" is her top-seller. What's your favorite Madonna song? I have never been a Madonna fan and can't even think of a song she did. I did Google it and even looking at the titles, nothing was familiar. Sorry.
6) Madonna was born in Bay City, MI, and traveled to New York City to find fame and fortune. When she first arrived, she supported herself by working at Dunkin' Donuts. What's your standard DD order? We haven't been to Dunkin' in years. We have Hole in One Donuts here and that is our go-to when we want donuts. I do remember liking the Dunkin croissant breakfast sandwich though.
7) The only Christmas card Sam has received so far this year is from her dentist. Have you received many cards this year? We have received over 20 already. I love getting Christmas cards from friends and loved ones!
8) Will you wrap many presents? Or do you prefer to use gift bags? I have a few to wrap but most will be in a bag.
9) Madonna recorded "Santa Baby" to benefit The Special Olympics. Here's your chance to plug a cause or organization that's near and dear to you. My birthday fundraiser on Facebook is for our son & DIL's animal sanctuary "New Paths Horse Sanctuary". They rescue horses that are old or handicapped in some way and can't be ridden anymore and allow them to live out their days with no worries and special care as needed. I only need $30 more to meet my $200 goal.

Peace & hugs! Jesus loves you!!

Happy belated birthday!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your answers today.
Love your picture, thanks for sharing.
Have a good Saturday my friend.
I was not a Madonna fan and cant think of one song she sang. My son told me he loved me yesterday and says it often. I need to hear that. Hope you had a good birthday and will have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of Madonna and actually prefer Eartha Kitts rendition of the song. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday weekend, smiles.
ReplyDeleteI've never been a fan of Madonna, Terri, nor will I ever be. However, that song is cute, albeit dripping with greed. We can always take it tongue in cheek.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Happy birthday to you! I would pick the convertible too. I had one when I was young. I liked it. Loved your answers! Have a great weekend!

Not a Madonna fan either and I'm not familiar with any of her songs. It was so nice for you to stop in and wish your previous employer a happy retirement. Enjoyed reading your answers, as always!! Merry Christmas.
ReplyDelete#4 really brought home how little we actually use checks these days. I'm sure it won't be long before they are a complete thing of the past, too. 20 cards? I think you win the prize for having the most so far. I tried an experiment and sent out more than I usually do, but so far we've only gotten 6. I know so few people who send them any more. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Terri! It's 55 here but getting darker and darker as a cold front and rain move closer. We'll be back to winter tomorrow.
ReplyDeletePM me your address and I am happy to send you one!! I love sending and receiving cards!
DeleteI'm not a Madonna fan. At all. She's a pretty disgusting individual, to be honest. She needs Jesus.
ReplyDeleteAnywho, the only thing I've bought at Dunkin' Donuts is their coffee. It's really good.
Hope your Birthday was good. And y'all have a Merry Christmas friend!
So glad to hear you had a nice birthday ... hope to hear more in Monday's recap? I didn't/don't care much for Madonna, either but there's a couple of her songs I love -- like 'This Used to be my Playground' from a League of Their Own. 'Was thinking about your PT job recently, and wondered if you'd kept in touch. Nice!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think of that song from A League of Their Own. Love that movie!!
DeleteI think that's a fun song. I agree on the convertible ad I too thought I would sell it. :)
ReplyDeleteBob calls me Hon.
I rarely write checks, I did get one yesterday from Rakutan which gives bonuses for online shopping.
I'm not a Madonna fan either.
