The Wednesday Hodgepodge x 400!

Thank you, Joyce, for today's extra-special 400th Hodgepodge!!  Join in HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 400

From this Side of the Pond

1. I feel like episode 400 cannot go without comment. That's a whole lot of Hodgepodging folks. 2000 questions if my math is right. So, what's something you feel like you do 400 times a week?
Clean up after our three cats.  If it isn't a hairball found somewhere in the house, it's cat hair whooshing around and settling in a corner.  Oh, and then there is Vinny taking a mouthful of wet catfood and dropping it on the floor to eat instead of eating it from the dish... you get my drift here. Every day, at least 400 times a day! LOL, I wouldn't trade them for anything, though.

2. Tell us where you were and something about what your life looked like in the year 2000Well, I well remember December 1999 as we all held our breath, waiting for the world to end when the ball dropped and the clock ticked to January 1, 2000.  That nasty Y2K bug didn't bite us after all.  I was still working.  The grandkids were still young enough to enjoy our pool and going to Disney.  It was a different time and perhaps a lighter time than where we are today. Good memories.  All the D'Orsaneos got together to usher in the year 2000 and we had our picture taken (I was taking a picture, as was sister-in-law Debbie).  Seven of these people are no longer with us now (4 by death and 3 by divorce)...  Things have changed.  Don't they always...

3. Do you like cinnamon?
YES!  What's something you make and enjoy that calls for cinnamon?  Pumpkin bread.  Of the cinnamon 'foods' listed which is your favorite-red hot cinnamon candies, cinnamon toast, cinnamon rolls, cinnamon toast crunch cereal, apple cinnamon oatmeal, churros, an Indian curry?  I eat cinnamon toast most often and keep a shaker of cinnamon & sugar on the table.  The only one of those foods I haven't had is Indian curry but I am sure I would like it!!

4. Does Christmas 2020 (or Hanukkah) look much like it has in years past, or is this year vastly different for you and your family? How so? How are you feeling about it all?  This year isn't a lot different from years past because we don't usually have family joining us for Christmas. Those days are way past.  The only difference this year will be fewer folks at the table.  Helen & Cheryl will be here, but no one else will join us this year.

5. What's one thing you need or want to do before this year ends?  There is nothing I need or want before we usher in the new year but we are excited to have our good friends (my BFF) Elaine & Jim joining us on December 30th and staying next door through March!! That is something we are looking forward to!!

6. Insert your own random thought here.  Just that there are so many blessings to count, even in this strange and sometimes awful year we have journeyed through.  I thank God every day for so many blessings in my life, and count each of you among them!

Peace & hugs!!  Jesus loves you and
came to save us! Believe it!

  3. That's so neat, having your friends' upcoming visit to look forward to! Sweet picture -- I'm trying to find Joey. And is that Tristan on grandma's lap? I probably say, "Myra, you're NOT hungry!" at least 400 times a day.

    1. Yes, Myra, Tristan is on his gr-grandma's lap and Joey is standing next to his brother (tall Jeff in the back row) but is behind his cousin, Dawn, which is why you don't recognize him.

  4. Yes, a vastly different Christmas this year, but we can all count our blessings, and they are many!
    Blessings, Terri!

  5. Merry Christmas to you and Joe Terri! How fun to have friends staying right next door. We've become good friends with our neighbors and it certainly makes life nicer. Thanks for always playing along here on Wednesdays.

  6. I remember Y2K too. I had to work the night shift and everyone wondered if things would be ok after midnight. Our administrator called right after midnight to make sure all was well.
I love cinnamon too. Have you ever tried cinnamon toast using the pioneer woman recipe? It takes a little longer, but it sure is good!

  8. I love cinnamon, and I also have cinnamon raisin toast quite often for breakfast, but I put peanut butter and apple butter on top of it. I love homemade cinnamon rolls or coffee cake, but haven't had either of them in a LONG time. I sometimes cheat and have the poppin' fresh cinnamon rolls from a can, but they aren't the same. I remember the Y2K scare, but really wasn't too concerned about it. Just like now, I know that God is in control, and He will take care of us no matter what or who or whatever. We just have to stay focused on Him and trust Him to lead us through the maze of life. So nice your BFF will be staying next door for a few months. That should be a lot of fun!! Have a wonderful Christmas!!

  9. I love cinnamon too. The only thing I didn't like was a meatloaf that called for too much cinnamon.

Y2K!! Oh the memories. Miki and her family were here from Sweden, and most of the gang was home. We lived in a big farmhouse in Lancaster County back then. I had filled many, many, many gallon jugs with water and had them in the basement - just in case! Somehow it seemed like we wouldn't die if we at least had water, lol!! Oh how the kids have never let me forget that!

I'm thankful for your friendship, Terri! You are a true friend.
