Thanks to Crazy Sam for this week's Saturday 9. You can join in HERE!
Everybody's Somebody's Fool
Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
None of this week's questions mention the coronavirus. However, if you want to share how you're feeling about Covid-19 at this extraordinary time, please feel free to do so.
1) Next Wednesday is April Fool's Day. Do you have any pranks planned? Do you expect to fall victim to any April Fool's Day mischief? No. Sometimes at work, someone would try to pull a prank but I've been retired for two years!
2) When she was a kid, Crazy Sam would fool her mom by putting bubble wrap under the bath map so there would be a POP! when her mother stepped on it. When you encounter bubble wrap, do you always indulge in a pop or two? ... or three or four - or the entire sheet of bubble wrap!
3) While we're using this song to celebrate April Fool's Day, it was written about another subject entirely: heartbreak. The lyrics tell us that at some point, we each get our hearts broken by someone who doesn't love us as much as we love them. Do you think that's true? It is true for me but I'm sure there are many out there who have been blessed to not have their hearts broken like that!
4) In 1962, this week's featured Connie Francis published a book aimed at teens called For Every Young Heart. It addressed topics like going steady and schoolwork vs. social life. Do you ever read advice columns or self-help books? I usually read Ms. Manners and Dear Abby in the daily newspaper. I do shake my head at some of the letters, though.
5) Connie Francis can play the accordion. Sam has never met anyone adept at this complicated instrument -- not even in her high school band. What about you? Do you play the accordion, or do you know anyone who can? I sure can't and don't know of anyone who can play the accordion. I don't think I've ever seen one in person.
6) In 1960, when this record was popular, Harper Lee's classic To Kill a Mockingbird was published. Have you read it? I have read the book and have seen the movie multiple times. Excellent story.
7) Also in 1960, one of Life magazine's best-selling issues had Sophia Loren on the cover. At that time, she was an international film star and considered one of the world's most beautiful women. Who do you consider one of 2020's most beautiful women? Hands down, it has to be Melania Trump!
8) A 1960 issue of Vogue acknowledged how expensive it had become to maintain a fashionable wardrobe and asked, "If you were to buy only one thing, what would it be?" If it's good enough for Vogue, it's good enough for Saturday 9: If you could purchase only one new article of clothing for spring 2020, what would you buy? I have been watching for a sleeveless A-line dress that is easy to just toss on and looks nicer than capris or shorts.
9) Random question: When someone makes you really angry, are you more likely to respond with stony silence or a big noise? Probably somewhere between those two, depending on if I'm mad at myself or someone else. I don't get mad often, but I am impatient and am more likely to make a big noise over my impatience. It is all on me.
Happy Saturday! Thanks for stopping by.
Peace & hugs! God bless!

Bubble wrap is just one of those things, isn't it? I love to get a big sheet of the bigger bubbles and put it on the floor and stomp on it. LOL Enjoy your day, Terri!
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely with you when it comes to Melania Trump, Terri. What a gorgeous and gracious woman she is, and we are so blessed to have her as our First Lady!
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific weekend, my friend!
No question, I said Melania Trump, too! "Depends" (#9) raises a good point. Not proud of it, but I'm more likely to make a fuss with someone I know well. (But he knows to expect a quick apology, lol.)
ReplyDeleteBubble wrap is so fun to pop. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYes, you do know someone who plays the accordion -- my husband! Well, I should amend that. He took accordion lessons as an adolescent and brought his accordion into our marriage. He could play Lady of Spain, and numerous Christmas carols, simple stuff like Home Home on the Range (to quote him: "stuff appropriate for a 6th grader") We gave the accordion away when we moved out of Colorado.
ReplyDeleteOh no!! You gave it away?! I was all ready to sing a duet with accordion accompaniment next time we are up your way!! My dad had his own version of Lady of Spain and it is not for tender ears! LOL Thanks for that memory!
DeleteLove to pop bubble wrap; Melania is beautiful; and I dont get angry often and if I do, it is probably something I have done wrong instead of the other person. I dont play the accordion and dont know anyone that does. Hope your Saturday is a good one.
ReplyDeleteBubble wrap an improvement over the so called "peanuts" used... hope all is well.. just feeling up to making my rounds.... :)
ReplyDeleteI just got a maxi dress in a pink chevron stripe...a line. I plan to wear it with my denim jacket. I have several dresses I wear in the summer as I like them so much. I found mine at QVC. I know being a tall lady, it is hard for you to get what you need. Amelia has the same problem!
ReplyDeleteMelania is such a good answer and I do not know why she didn't come to mind for me. I think she is gorgeous! Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.
