Our weekend wasn't quite what we thought it would be. Grandson Tristan was supposed to come over on Saturday morning to spend some time with his Uncle Jeff and us. He called me shortly after 9:00 a.m. to say he just got a call from his manager, at work. The wife of a co-worker was diagnosed with C-19 and Tristan works closely with her husband. He was concerned about coming over and maybe putting Grandpa in danger. It broke my heart that we would miss some time with him and that he would miss his Uncle Jeff, but I thanked him for letting us know and that until he knows more he should probably self-isolate. He actually said he would miss seeing Uncle Jeff but we would have lots more weekends! Of course, I am concerned for him too, but he is young and healthy and not in a compromised health situation. We did Facetime with him so he could talk with Uncle Jeff.
We took Jeff to the airport Saturday, late afternoon. We actually got back home before he boarded the plane. He arrived home safely. The house always seems too quiet when our loved ones go home after a nice visit. :(
We went out to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant on Friday night. No one there was worried about the virus. The restaurant was packed.
Joe and I went to the grocery for a few things yesterday afternoon. The store had plenty of meat, produce, dairy, water, bread... Some shelves had some bare spots, but we got everything we needed with no problem. I hope the hoarding and mob mentality settles down soon. The virus is real but someone on Facebook asked an interesting question... do you actually know someone who has the virus? Not heard of someone who knows someone... but your family, your neighbors, your friends? No. We don't.
Our Canadian neighbors are heading home this week, a whole month earlier than planned. So sorry to see them go and hope their trip north is safe and easy. There is some word around that Canada will close their borders so that is kind of scary for the Canadians who are in the USA for the winter.
I hope you all are staying well and have what you need to be comfortable!!
Thanks for your visit!
Peace & hugs!!
God bless, and remember He is in control!!

The stores around here are still wiped out. Hoping they can restock this week since we need some groceries.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
I'm sorry you weren't able to see Tristan, but praying he remains virus-free. Even if he's young and healthy, it's no picnic. Yes, I do hope the hoarding settles down, but I've believed from the beginning that a lot of it was caused by unscrupulous people buying up items they thought would be in demand in order to sell it back at inflated prices. I am so glad PA's attorney general is going after those who do that with everything he's got. It does seem that with stores limiting their hours of operation and the number of certain items you can buy, it has slowed down the panic. Not sure what the CDC's new recommendation that everything should be shut down for 8 weeks will do if states impose that. We all just need to pray and keep calm.
ReplyDeleteOh no, I hope Tristan doesn't get sick, Terri. No meat of any kind, no eggs, no sugar, no bread, no milk, no pasta items here...stores are empty and barren. My photos on FB are real...sigh. Folks are panicking, sigh.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of all this depressing news on tv, I hope you have a beautiful day in the sunshine of Florida!
I am sorry you didn't get to visit with the grandson, but that was good that he realized he might not should come. I am home with no more intention of getting too far out since I have one of those compromised immune systems due to RA and long term taking of medicines. I am very healthy for someone in that condition and no longer on those meds and don't want to go back to it, so I am being extra precautious. I hope it goes away swiftly and I am praying for our country. Maybe this can bring out any good in people.
ReplyDeleteThat was such a thoughtful gesture on Tristan's part, and I do hope he doesn't get this virus. As you know, we're taking every precaution possible to stay away from frequented public places until it's absolutely necessary to go. Take good care of yourselves!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I know you hated to miss seeing your boy but he is so sweet to put your health first. A wise young man. I am off to Publix this morning to get some things. I am thinking of purchasing a bouquet of flowers to brighten things up around here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame, Terri! A disappointment, yes … but (I think) a very thought-full gesture. No, neither Tom or I know anyone with the virus. I'm not particularly concerned, but shaking my head at the chaos and empty shelves.
ReplyDeleteProbably for the best - dont want to spread anything if possible. It's a crazy time - for sure!
ReplyDeleteDo we know anybody with the C-virus? Maybe. Time will tell.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your visit with Tristan did not go as planned. What a good guy to Facetime with you and Jeff. Yes, a house does seem terribly empty after a good visit as you had with Jeff.
Well, I think if we follow the rules things will go better than if we don't.
ReplyDeleteI agree... and we don't have much of a choice anyway.
DeleteI'm sorry about Tristan but I think he was wise. Glad you had that time with Jeff, but good byes are so hard.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about Tristan needing to cancel his weekend visit. As you know, we had disappointments too this weekend. The eggs and meat and bread are OUT at our stores, as well as the Clorox wipes, TP, etc. We still have a few eggs, but I will keep trying. They are more important than they used to be in Dick's diet since he doesn't eat cereal for breakfast anymore.
