Another weekend behind us with a few more just like it ahead of us, I think. My physical therapist booked a new appointment for me (after canceling the rest I had scheduled) on April 27th. Perhaps they know something the rest of us don't... Time will tell.
Friday afternoon, Joe and I cleaned off our lawn chairs and put them under the carport hoping to see some neighbors going by and perhaps have a conversation with someone...
It was a beautiful day with a gentle breeze blowing our windsock...
Gorgeous blue Florida sky...
And our neighbor from down the street was riding by in his
scooter. He rode it right up to us (at least 6 feet apart!) and
stayed to visit. Walt just turned 94 a couple of months ago.
He is a WWII veteran and has led a very interesting life.
His wife died quite a while ago and now it is just him and his
little dog, Teeny, living here. He does have 3-4 kids and his
daughter lives near and takes care of all his needs and finances.
Everyone knows Walt here in Mas Verde. He is a character!
We enjoyed his visit!
We have three cats. You see Vinny and Lucy frequently here
because they are more social than Lilly. I did catch Lilly on Friday morning!
Speaking of Friday, we made a quick trip to Sam's Club for a few things. They still don't have any spring water. I've just been drinking iced tea and Crystal Light made with tap water. Our water tastes okay but I drink water all day long and prefer spring water. Sigh. Joe drinks Propel all day. We have been able to get all the Propel he wants. What is up with hoarding bottled water?!!
Our dear friend, Helen, turned 92 years young on Sunday.
Saturday afternoon, we picked up food at Olive Garden and took it
to her house where we celebrated with her and her niece, Cheryl.
Cheryl got a cake at Walmart which was very good.
We normally would have taken her out for dinner but this celebration
worked out just fine. We were careful and didn't hug her (like we wanted to).
Sunday morning we were up in time for our church's live streaming worship on Facebook. We feel so blessed to have that connection with our pastors and members of our praise team. We can see everyone who is watching with us (see their names - not them!), and it feels a bit like we are together for worship. It will surely make it all the sweeter when we are finally able to get together again in person!
I also did laundry yesterday and we had a nice conversation with our neighbor, Sharon, while we sat out in the carport for a while yesterday. Those chairs out there are bringing us safely together with friends!
Our calendar is clear all week. Ha! We haven't heard from the farm (Joe's client) but hopefully, we can get down there this week. It will be really hard for Joe to catch up if it goes more than a couple of weeks and it has been three. The owner has some health issues right now and it supposed to isolate but she doesn't have to be in the office with Joe for the work to get done. Time will tell. We will be in touch with them today.
Today is my niece Kelly's birthday! She doesn't read my blog but my sister does, so Patti will let Kelly know we are thinking of her. Her card is in the mail and should be there on time!!
Happy Birthday, Kelly!!
Thanks for your visit!! Have a good week ahead!
Peace & hugs!!
Relax, our God is in control!!

It is so nice to see normal life happening all around us, in slightly different ways, but still good. 😊
ReplyDeleteLilly is a cutie. That's nice that you are able to still connect with your neighbors. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteDo be ever so careful, Terri, when you go out anywhere. As you know, we aren't leaving the compound! Happy Birthday, Kelly!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are making the most of a bad situation. Just be careful with the visits. I don't want to hear you or Joe is sick!
ReplyDeleteLilly is my favorite as I love grey cats. Sounds like you are making it ok and good to be able to visit with neighbors. It is good to see someone other than those we live with! Have a blessed Monday.
ReplyDeleteStay well. Its funny you posted the Florida blue sky. Everything is still so beautiful, but so different and strange. Thankful to be in this place where you can still be outside.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Helen and Kelly! I would love to sit on the carport and chat the day away, smiles.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I think we are all in a 2 weeks by 2 weeks notices...and honestly, no one really knows what is going on or will go on. smiles
Happy Birthday to Helen...I feel like I know her. It is very different these days. I am hoping by summer we can get back to a somewhat normal routine. We stayed in a lot before but now that we CANNOT go out that makes me want to go out.lol The rebellious child within! But I am an oldest child so I will obey the rules.
ReplyDeleteGlad things are going well and connecting with friends and family. Stay safe and well.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Helen and Kelly! So neat, the way your community is laid out, you can watch the world go by from your own carport. That's a great snapshot of the windsock!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to both Helen and your niece! Both lovely gals in their respective stages of life.
ReplyDeleteHelen's birthday cake is sooo pretty!
The kitties are adorable and I am glad you were able to chat with your neighbor. I am sure he needs some talk as well. I am ready for family to be able to pop in. I won't take that for granted ever. I also am grateful for online church but will look forward to being there in person as well.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Helen looks pretty darn happy with that beautiful cake. Your cats are so sweet. Stay saf and healthy!!
ReplyDeleteLife goes on...but we have sure had to adjust our visits and socializing! We still see walkers in our neighborhood and some people sit outside. We 'holler' across the street to those neighbors when we come and go. Take care of yourself...both of you! Hugs! (it may cool down later this week...YAY!!!)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are keeping busy. We have a water filter that filters the water - we got it at BJ's.
ReplyDeleteI just heard Florida is closing until May 15 - be careful.
You have a lot of good social stuff going on there. My vet scheduled my dog for dental cleaning, shots and grooming for April 10, but that was before the extension. Ugh. Your neighbor does look quite the character with those suspenders. So wonderful that he is able to live in a community like yours and get along so well. Lucky to have those kids to take care of him, too.
ReplyDeleteI drink so much bottled water and I stay ahead on my supply. I always have, so I don't feel I'm hoarding. However, I am being very careful in my usage. Years ago, we bought a thing called the Big Berkey. It is a container with a filter and is so good, it can filter even swamp water. The filters last for something like 10,000 gallons. You might check into that. I think it's better than tap water. I use it for making coffee and tea, things like that.
Thanks for the water filter tip. I'll look it up. I did just order a pitcher filter but it won't be here until the end of April. I used to stay ahead on water too but didn't hoard it. Now I am down to one bottle left. Haven't found any to buy for three weeks now. At least we DO have clean tap water. I am not going to complain!!
DeleteGlad you all are getting to visit with neighbors and friends. It sure helps to pass the time. We had lunch here with one of our couple friends and throughly enjoyed it, it was just so good to be with someone. None of us have really been out except for the grocery and decided it was worth it to be together. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Kelly!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Helen too. She does not look her age!
It's nice to see Lily. She's so pretty.
Love that you got to visit with your neighbor.
Happy Birthday to all the people in your world!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that your friend used his scooter to get out & visit around but keeping his distance. Gotta do what you can to stay safe but to keep sanity & steer off loneliness
What a crazy life this is right now! I have not seen ANYBODY except strangers at the grocery store. And of course Dick. And pictures and video calls with some grandchildren. Another whole month of this. Ughhhh!!!
