Saturday 9...

Miss Independent

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Miss Independent (2003)

Unfamiliar with this week's song. Hear it here

1) The song begins with Kelly describing a woman who is "independent" and "self-sufficient." Are you feeling especially independent and self-sufficient this morning? Or is there a particular task on your to-do list that you wish you had help with?  I am usually independent and self-sufficient, but right now I could use some help getting the Christmas decorations put back in the loft in the shed. They are still sitting in the "den" waiting for someone strong and tall to help.  I also need to paint a wall in the laundry closet and caulk a few places in the bathroom.  Help would be nice but is probably not forthcoming.

2) Kelly especially enjoys that this song was a hit because she had to argue with the record company to even include it on her album. Tell us about a time you're glad fought to get your way.  I can't' think of anything specific right now.  Joe will say I get my way all the time but I would beg to differ! LOL

3) The video depicts a very lively party that spills from the house to the pool area. What's the last party you attended? Was it held indoors, outdoors, or did the revelers enjoy themselves both inside and outside?  We had a party for my birthday 8 years ago that was inside and outside at our old house where we had an enclosed pool and patio.  Here we have only had small dinner parties that were inside.

4)The partiers are playing with "silly string." Have you ever indulged in a "silly string" battle?  Nope.  It looks like a mess to clean up!

5) Kelly Clarkson has a new daytime talk show. Who hosted the last entertainment talk show (as opposed to news) that you watched?  We gave up watching talk shows and award shows when they became liberal platforms for trashing America.

6) Kelly Clarkson told a foodie website that one of her favorite foods is sushi (especially California rolls). She said she's surprised how fond she is of it since as a kid, sushi is a food she wouldn't even try. Tell us about something you had to be convinced to try, or do, that you were surprised to find you enjoyed.  I guess I can say sushi, as well, though I won't eat raw sushi.  California rolls are good!!

7) In 2003, when "Miss Independent" was released, Microsoft and Sony were furiously competing for gamers' attention. Do you own Playstation or Xbox, neither or both?  We have never owned either one and I don't play those kinds of games.

8) Also in 2003, the best-selling cookbook was The King Arthur Flour Baker's Companion. It features foolproof recipes for old favorites like waffles, pancakes, flatbreads, and crackers. When you look for a new recipe, are you searching for an easier/better way to make something familiar, or are you more likely looking to try something new?  Sometimes both!  More than likely I am looking for a way to do something in the crockpot.  I still haven't pulled out my Instant Pot again.

9) Random question: Which has gotten you in more trouble -- love or money?  Money.

Thanks for checking in today!  You can join the Saturday 9 by clicking HERE!  Thanks to Sam for the questions!

Peace & hugs!  God bless!!

  5. Hope this is not a duplicat ecomment Terri. I am having to remember to switch to Google Chrome for some of my comments or they go poof. Anyway...I am more of a baker in the food department. I have seen those instant pots but I think I prefer a crock pot as well.

  6. I chortled about your silly string comment …. that's so me! Likewise on the talk-shows and gaming. Oh, the InstaPot. Great plans gone awry. Call me naive, but I didn't realize California Rolls don't contain raw fish.

    1. Myra, there are lots of sushi choices that don't contain raw fish. They are happy to tell you which ones if the menu doesn't specify.

  8. I'm with you on those horrid day-time shows, Terri, and I do love finding recipes for the crock pot, though with Danny doing most of the cooking, I rarely get it out anymore.
    Have a great weekend!

  9. I gave up the talk shows for the same reason and I hate that some I used to enjoy, like Stephen Colbert completely flipped where he was coming from when he took over for Letterman. Oh well, have a lovely Sunday, Terri!

  10. I don't watch talk shows either, for the same reason as you. I also don't like sushi. :)
