Friday Photos...

I don't have many photos to share today on this chilly Friday.  Our weather is improving but it has been COLD for us here in central Florida.

We went to the farm (Joe's client) on Wednesday and instead of staying outside to take pictures I sat in the office where it was much warmer.  I did give the dogs their treats and the horses got carrots.  I just didn't hang out for long.

The sun was out, creating shadows, but it was cold!

Three of the four horses. Majesty left after the carrots
were gone. This is Pistol, Doc, and Vanna.

Wednesday evening we had our small group meeting, already reported in yesterday's post.  We do enjoy it.  One of our group invited us to the Thursday morning Bible Study at our church so Joe and I both went to that yesterday.  The Pastor leads it and the study is about the subject of his coming sermon, so we found it to be very interesting!  It is another fun group and we were welcomed warmly.

There is nothing on the calendar today so no alarm clock for the first time this week!  We talked about going down to Homeland to visit the Alafia River Rendezvous, which is a pre-1840s Camp reenactment (similar to the Scottish Games or a war reenactment).  We have gone before but it has been a few years because of my knees. It involves a good bit of walking.  We decided to let it go again this year since Joe is still recovering.

We have friends who do it every year and love it.  There are about 1,300 people in the camp, dressing as frontiersmen/women.  They cook over fires, live in tents, and enjoy music and visiting.  There is a general store selling leather goods and hides, there is a restaurant, a broom maker, etc., and they also do demonstrations of woodworking and cooking.  Here is a link   It's BIG!  I will say that they are quite comfortable there.  They have real beds, tables, and chairs.  The white canvas tents are two and three rooms with wood-burning stoves for heat (needed this week!).  There is a separate port-a-potty area with men & women's facilities surrounded by fencing so that the "modern" part of the camp doesn't really show.

Our friends are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and decided to renew their vows at the Rendezvous.  I borrowed their picture from her Facebook page.  Both of their sons got to be there for the ceremony and dressed accordingly.  It is great for them to have this memory!!

After Bible Study yesterday we decided to pop into the new Publix Greenwise for a few things.  We bought focaccia (not my pictures) and Joe's favorite Philly-style big pretzels.  We got a few other things too, but only intended to get the pretzels. LOL

Happy Friday, all!!  Thanks for visiting today!

Peace & hugs!!  God bless!!

  1. Bet the reenactment is a fun thing to go to and sorry you cant make it this year - maybe next for sure. It is hard to go to Publix and not spend too much - they have so many good things. Have a restful day and good weekend.

  2. So glad you are able to get out and about with friends and church gatherings. I love that your church does so many interesting things. That reenactment event does sound interesting. This week might have been a bit too chilly for it, but still fun. Love the picture of that couple in their regalia. What a neat thing to do! Your goodies from Publix look great too!! I am going to go get a perm later this morning...and then we are going to some friends' house the afternoon to play Scrabble and have supper. Should be fun. I need the PERM very badly. I may wait a while to show pictures, however! LOL> Have a peaceful day!!

  3. Good to hear Joe is continuing to feel better and that you feel up to hiking around the Rendezvous! I love big soft pretzels and like my grandfather, I put yellow mustard on them. I gather that's a Philly thing, too, since he had family there and spent a lot of time there growing up. Happy Friday and blessings on your day and weekend!

  6. Oh that Scottish Rendevouz sounds like so much fun. Maybe next year when you have TWO NEW KNEES, you can enjoy it Terri!! What a good picture of the happy couple. I love all things Scottish as my mother's maiden name is Henderson. And we have our own plaid as well. It is a pretty blue green! And who does not love any baked good from Publix. So delicious.

  7. Sounds like a wonderful and fun reenactment event, Terri. There are fairly frequent Civil War reenactments up our way, especially at Kennesaw National Battlefield. And I haven't had a soft pretzel in ages! Will have to remedy that one soon.
    Blessings!

  8. We have a small group that we meet with weekly at our home. I just love it. It is good to have a group to meet with and study with.
It has been quite chilly this week, but warming up now. I got outside a while before the rain came through, but the sun is shining this morning. I love Publix and have to use a lot of their Greenwise products for my health issues. I have seen that they have those smaller stores. I think I would like those.
