It's Friday and time to share some photos from my week.
Keeping the Friday Foto tradition alive!!
We went to the farm (Joe's client) on Wednesday.
It was COLD (for us in Florida) and the wind was whistling!!
I took the selfie to show you my hair blowing and me all bundled up! LOL
I told Joe that the sky looked like a northern snow sky!
Pistol and Doc got carrots. So did Majesty but no picture of him
in the other pasture. This is Pistol.
This is Doc. Doc is my buddy!
On the way home, we kept passing trucks full of oranges. This is
orange juice season here in Central Florida. The valencias are ripe
and make the best juice. We always pass the Peace River Juice Company,
so I tried to get some photos. I wish you could smell
the wonderful juice being processed. It makes my mouth water!

It is hard to see but right in the center, you can see the oranges in the bins, waiting to be processed through the plant.
What a difference a day makes. We had our
blue sky back on Thursday!

I don't remember smelling the juice, but I used to love when we'd head out early in the morning with those gorgeous blue skies and there was a plant that made bread...oh, THAT smell. YUM!

ReplyDeleteI said the same thing....the sky looked like snow! And the wind made it feel so much colder too! But now it's nice again! I haven't seen the oranges yet so that is something to look forward to. Love those beautiful horses! Enjoy your day!

Your winter coat is about like mine - we had a day of cold - today rain - tomorrow sun. I love oranges - how wonderful that must be. Doc is a beautiful horse.

As I scrolled my blog feed, your picture caught my eye before your words did, and as I looked at your pic, I thought, "It must be cold in Florida." Alas, I discover that it is. Kind of rare for November, I know.

Thanks for the tip about Valencia oranges being in season right now. I have not been clear on when citrus is at its best.
ReplyDeleteBlue sky yesterday but completely overcast with rain here today! Loving it (as long as we're indoors!).
30 Valencias will make a good half gallon of fresh juice. Our neighbor in the old neighborhood had two trees and would bring us bags full of them. We bought a citrus juicer just for those oranges! Yum!

ReplyDeleteOh I love the smell of oranges being made into juice! We miss that smell. They don't have any orange juice plants up this far anymore. Too far north since all the freezes. We had a lot of rain last night and today, and it was cold and damp all day. Maybe that sunshine will reach us tomorrow! I hope so. I've been shivering! Love your horses and friends! Thank you for sharing them with us.

When my sister Janet and her husband lived in Lakeland back in the 60's there was an orange tree in their back yard. Our family visited them at Christmas and we got to pick oranges off the tree and eat them fresh. So delicious!!
ReplyDeleteHere at our Sam's Club they make juice from oranges while shoppers stand and watch. That whole area of the store is filled with the sweet aroma. And the juice is amazing!
Our extreme cold came so suddenly up here and I am really having a hard time getting used to it this year. Ugh!!
I grew up in San Diego and we had an orange tree in our backyard. Every once in a while I'll peel an orange and the smell takes me right back there!
