There is always so much to be thankful for and Rebecca Jo at Knit By God's Hand (click HERE) gives us a link-up every Thursday to share our blessings with others. Thank you, Rebecca Jo!
Last night, Joe and I met with our small group from church for the second time. We have two couples who are our leaders and we meet twice a month, once in one home and the other in the other couple's home. They prepare dinner for all of us. There are 11 of us (so far). It is a social gathering. We pray, then eat together, and then just sit and talk. It is a great way to get to know our new friends from our new church. We have really enjoyed it and are so thankful for our new church and church family!
I am thankful for Joe and for our family and friends.
We are so looking forward to seeing my nephew, Mike, in a couple of weeks. He is in Miami for a few weeks checking out places where he might do his medical residency and he is driving up for the weekend with us!!
Then comes Thanksgiving and we will have nine (maybe 11) around our table giving thanks. I love it when I get to put a leaf in the table and bring out extra chairs!!
In December, my niece (Mike's sister) will be at Sanibel Island to present her research at the American Reading Forum Conference. She asked if she could drive up for an over-night with us before catching her flight out the next day in Tampa. Of course!! Sara is working on her Ph.D. and I think this is a pretty big deal for her to have been asked to present at this conference. I'm so proud of them both!
We are so very blessed by the people in our lives and that includes all of you!!
Thanks for your visit! Peace & hugs!! God bless!!

You had/have much to be thankful for sure. I am so thankful you found your new church and are involved. Hugs
ReplyDeleteYou have every right to be proud of your niece and nephew, Terri, and I know you're glad you'll be seeing them soon. And the church group sounds perfect! Know how thankful I am for friends like you!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Your church group sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't know how to cook for 11 people. lol We usually go to my MIL's for Thanksgiving. There are only 4-5 people.
Have a great day!
It's been a long time since I've cooked Thanksgiving dinner, but it's falling back into my lap this year and for a crowd of 12! Though, I guess the baby doesn't really count as she won't be eating any actual food this year. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day!
Our Thanksgiving plans are still up in the air … but I love your excitement. (Given that many? Mine would be panic … lol.) Your church gatherings sound so nice; who'd have guessed that extra camaraderie would evolve? Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteCan I come to your house for Thanksgiving Terri?lol We will just be us and Amelia and Todd. One of the downsides of blended families is that you must share the grands with the other parent every now and then...holidays can be a bear in that regard. I remember the old days when my grandparents had everyone around the table. Good times.
ReplyDeleteYes!! Come one down! All four of you! We will have to put you at the kitchen table but it isn't that far from the dining room table! I love a crowd for the holidays and remember fondly those big gatherings at my grandma's! We were blessed to celebrate holidays three times. The weekend before at one grand's and the weekend after at the other's. That way, the actual holiday was at our house and the grands dropped in throughout the day. It worked for us, for years, for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
DeleteI love how family travels to visit you & you travel as well... showing how much you are for one another!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome small group!! We used to go to a home where she would make dinner for us all too - for someone like me who doesnt cook & struggles to cook for 2, it blows my mind that people ENJOY doing that for others :) LOL
So many blessings!!! That is so wonderful that everyone wants to stop by and spend time when they are in your area! Also, so awesome that you get to host such a large group at Thanksgiving - how wonderful!!! HUGS
ReplyDeleteWow... cannot believe that Thanksgiving is almost upon us.. Sounds like wonderful plans..
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear you are settling in to your new church and getting plugged in! It's great to feel connected to a church family. I have a friend who moved to eastern PA almost 6 years ago. They have yet to find a church that is welcoming and loving.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree about putting the extra leaf in the table, though in my case, since we now no longer have our 2-extra-leaves dining table, we just add a folding table to our regular one to make space for others.
Enjoy your visit with your niece and nephew. It's great that they want to see you!!
I love the way your new church gets new members socially involved. It's wonderful to fit in.
ReplyDeleteWe are not hosting Thanksgiving this year. I am kind of sad about that, but excited to travel to Phoenix to visit with my sister and her family. There will be 31 of us!
How nice that your nephew will be able to visit you. I bet you are hoping for a Florida residency!
Thirty-one of you!! I would be in Heaven!! I wish you safe travels!! It would be nice to have Mike choose Florida, but I think he liked what he saw in West Virginia. Time will tell though!!
DeleteWe have a small group from church that we gather with too. There are 10 of us and we all takes turns. It's such a blessing to be part of!
