I don't have any new photos to share this week. Fighting a cold and not going to the farm until today leaves me searching through some old photos to share. Many of you will have seen these from our Italy vacation back in 2007, but many of my newer connections probably haven't seen them.
Venice...
Florence...
Rome...
I have to give some background here...
Fr. Victor was assigned to our Parish in Lakeland for part of his studies.
We told him we were going to Italy, where he was studying at
the Irish College and he told us to contact him.
He gave us a wonderful tour and treated us to lunch with
colleagues at the college. Fr. Victor is in the center.
Joe still has a 1st cousin living north of Rome. We
were able to spend a day with them. This is in their home.
They took one of those plates off their wall and gave it to us.
They don't speak English and we don't speak Italian but we
had a wonderful time looking at old photos and doing
a lot of gesturing.
Then I found a bunch of Relay For Life photos. I was a team captain for seven years, helping to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Our team got to carry the banner to start the evening in 2008. That's me on the end, next to the Geico Gheko. I am thankful to be a cancer survivor.
You have heard me talk about my friend, Dawn, who also does
facials. This is her and her hubby, DeWayne, standing with us
at Relay that year.
And then I found this picture of us at the 2007 Gala.
(A Museum fundraiser.) Good golly!!
Thanks for your visit!! It is finally FRIDAY! Wishing you a great weekend!
Peace & hugs! God bless!!

Oh, how fun! I enjoyed seeing your Italy pics...a first for me. The one of you and Joe's cousins made me think of that scene in the European Vacation movie where the Griswolds think they are staying with cousins when they had the wrong address...the "hosts" were bewildered and the Griswold's clueless since they didn't speak each other's language. I guess if you were looking at family photos you two were with real cousins. LOL Have a great day, Terri...the wind is crazy here and the temps are dropping, but it's Friday!
ReplyDeleteYes, and they called Aunt Lucy (in Philly) while we were there and she translated some things for us. They wanted to know if we liked them! LOL It was fun!
DeleteGreat pics! Italy looks so fun. You and Joe look nice at the Gala.
ReplyDeleteI hope you both are feeling better.
I loved seeing all your pictures Terri. The Italian ones as well as the others. Thank you for sharing all.
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit Rome...so interesting. And I love the story of the first cousins that language barriers did not keep them from being together.
ReplyDeleteWow, Terri, such wonderful memories shared here today! Loved all the photos, my friend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
This was Fun!! I just loved every picture, Terri!
ReplyDeleteI went to Venice years ago. Unfortunately it was flooded. Could not find a taxi anywhere. Everyone went around by boats.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I remembered ... it was a spoiled holiday. We sat outside in a restaurant with tables on the sidewalk. I had minestroni soup. It started raining. It took me ages to finish the soup.
DeleteGod bless.
That's such a great photo of the two of you all 'dolled up'!!! I've not been to Venice since I was 7 y/o; but aside from Rome, I'd go back in a heartbeat. Love all these images, Terri. What memories!
ReplyDeleteI would skip Rome if I went again.
DeleteOh Terri, these were great pictures! What a marvelous trip to Italy! That must have been very exciting and rewarding. How wonderful to meet some of Joe's relatives, and even if you couldn't "speak the language", you still spoke the language of love! Thank you for your work with the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life. That is a very worthy endeavor. I may not have realized you were a cancer survivor. Praise God for that! Love the picture of you and Joe all dolled up for the gala. You both "clean up well". LOL. Loved the pictures. Hope you are both feeling better now. My hubby is fighting a cold now. I'm praying I don't get it too. Take care and God bless you both.
ReplyDeleteWhat a trip! Wow. I like how you gestured...ha ha! :) You should post a picture of the plate.
ReplyDeleteI loved looking through these. What an amazing trip. I really like that last photo of you and Joe.
