Y'all know that Joe is Italian. His dad came here (legally) from Italy
in 1924. He belonged to an Italian-American Club and this
photo looks (to me) like it could be straight from a Godfather movie! LOL
Big Italian weddings... this is Joe's Uncle Vince & Aunt Lucy's wedding.
Left to right are his cousin Tony, Joe's mom, Cousin Marie, Joe's dad,
Aunt Lucy (bride), Uncle Vince (groom), Joe's brother Nick in front of Uncle Vince,
then Joe's brother Lou, Uncle Benny, and then Joe.
This one of Joe just makes me laugh.
Joe's dad owned a meat market and Joe has lots of stories to tell
about working with his dad, uncle, and older brother there.
This is when it was first built and that is his mom & dad and their dog, Jack
standing in front of it. It has been torn down now to make way for
an assisted living home, but I did get to visit it while we were dating.
It was in Harmonville, PA.
Joe remembers BIG get-togethers with lots of meat on the grill.
He believes this group of friends & family were cooking for one of those
big get-togethers. Uncle Mario is seated and Joe's dad is
on the left with his hand on his hip.
Do you have some old photos to share? They actually don't have to be black & white. There really aren't rules here! Just share! Thanks for checking in and thanks for your prayers for my healing!! I am doing well! Peace & hugs!!

Hmmm...if I don't have to babysit today I'll have to see what photos I can come up with...since you're allowing color photos. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy family had a couple named Vince and Lucy, too. Vince was Italian, but Lucy is my mom's cousin (and shares the same birthday as Mom and me) and is Scot/English.
I love the pictures of the Italian family! The Godfather! lol! Joe on his head … so cute. I bet they do have some stories from the meat market, but I bet his Dad had some really good stories about Italy. He was a big handsome man and I would guess he always was the friendly butcher to every lady who came in.
ReplyDeleteAre all Italian men good-looking? (it seems that way!) Reading this blog post is like getting a peek into a wonderful movie. Loved it!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so glad blogging gives you a pleasant pastime while you are recovering from your surgery!
I'm glad you are doing well. Thanks for sharing your pics.
ReplyDeleteHave a good day!
Oh I love this post Terri.....I love seeing happy families and Joe's family looks like they enjoyed living and working together.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family well, Terri.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
My mother is Italian & I love the old family pics of all the family.
ReplyDeleteIt really is like out of the Godfather :)
So different than our little family of 3 … even 'grown-up' Myra is envious of Joe's extended clan! Have to admit, I once made an observation: "God never created an ugly Italian." LOL!
ReplyDeleteChuckling, as I recall once asking you if Lucy and Vinny were named after anyone?
We didn't plan it that way, Myra, but it did dawn on us later that we named them after Joe's aunt & uncle! LOL
DeleteAlways enjoy your photos. I hope today brings you feeling better, my friend.
ReplyDeleteDanny's grandparents were both (legal) Italian immigrants. He has so many memories of those big family gatherings. Thanks for sharing, Terri!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
These are great pictures! Joe's family may have resembled the Godfather, but we all know that is far from the truth! :)
ReplyDeleteLove these pictures, Terri! Italians are beautiful people. Our son Sam is part Italian.
ReplyDeleteThis is reminding me of My Big Fat Greek Wedding (no offense intended, I loved that movie!) And actually my dad was one of eight siblings, so we had big get togethers too, but maybe not as fun. Scandinavian reserve. Lol And speaking of Greek and Italian, I've been reading so much about the Orthodox and the Catholic church lately. I have so many questions. Have a wonderful Thursday, Terri. Loved the photos and captions.
