Holiday weeks make the weekend seem to come around faster and here we are at another Monday already! We actually saw some sunshine this past weekend. We had rain too, but the sun did peek through for most of the day, Saturday and Sunday! We needed the sunshine!
On Friday evening, Joe and I went to the Polk Museum of Art (my old employer) for a members' opening and reception for the new exhibit in the main gallery. The artist, Richard Heipp, was the speaker and his exhibit is colorful and thought-provoking (as most art usually is!). Mr. Heipp has been teaching at the University of Florida for 37 years. His talk was interesting and I look forward to going back to spend a little more time in the gallery looking at his work. The auditorium seats 152 people and there were another 20 or so standing in the back. Well attended and the food served after the talk was good too! I actually got in line and ate some this time. Staff usually stayed back to make sure we didn't run out of food. I'm just a member now!! 😁 You can read more HERE.
Saturday allowed us to sleep late! I didn't get up until 9:30 which is really late for me. We are enjoying lazy days. We had sunshine for most of the day but it did start pouring rain mid-afternoon.
When the rain stopped, we decided to go out for dinner. Had a coupon for BOGO at Sonny's BBQ. It was very good. I had my usual pulled pork with their delicious baked beans and cornbread. Joe had a pulled pork sandwich on garlic bread with a side salad. Yumminess.
These days, Sunday means a leisurely breakfast with the Sunday newspaper. I made pancakes and sausage with coffee and orange juice. It served as our lunch too. I was excited to use a new marinade on pork chops for our dinner. It was SO good!! I picked it up at Sam's Club because it caught my eye. The label says it is good poured over cream cheese to eat with crackers, or on pork or chicken. I can attest that it is delicious over pork chops. I simmered them in it and poured it over the chops on our plates. Roasted pineapple & habanero...
I got our guest room bed made up for our company, and Joe and I both got our medications organized for the next couple of weeks. I mention that only because our primary physician told us at our last visit that she is leaving. She has been my doctor for 17 years. Makes me SICK that she is leaving, but her nurse told us to let her know soon if we need any of our pills refilled in the next month or so. She will give us the prescriptions for another year so we can take our time choosing a new doctor.
Our doctor is recommending some to us, but her nurse (Debbie) told us to hang tight for a little while because something is in the works and we may not have to leave the practice we are with. I told Debbie once that if she ever left, I would follow her. She is taking care of a few of us, so we are hanging tight until we hear from her. Anyway, all of that said, we both made lists of what we will need to have refilled. Whew!
Al and Theresa dropped by last evening. It was fun catching up with them. They saw their daughter, Valerie, on Saturday, and they are all excited about the coming baby. Lots of baby talk, which is always fun. This is their first grandchild. We are so happy for them.
We have our cleaning service this morning. (Blessed, I know!) Joe is finishing up some work for a client and I am making a last-minute grocery list for tomorrow. Sara and Matthew will arrive tomorrow around 3:00ish. I am also doing laundry today so that is done for the week.
How was your weekend? Thanks for stopping by today!! Peace & hugs to all!!

You certainly had a busy but delightful weekend, Terri, and I can tell you are excited about your company coming. Thanks, too, for all your help on the blog backgrounds. You're a gem!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I'd ask you to send your cleaning service over here after they finish at your house, but you'll probably get a lot of that in the comments. I'll just do it myself! (smile)
ReplyDeleteChanging doctors -- that is one thing about our cross-country move that we have not especially enjoyed, but in retrospect, most of our doctors in Colorado were about our age, so these kinds of changes are inevitable.
We had some sun and more rain this weekend too.
ReplyDeleteThat sauce does sound yummy.
Have a great day!
Whine.....I miss Sonnys!!!! It rained all day yesterday here, the humidity has let up, which is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteChanging in doctors, I am seriously thinking of doing so. The PA who sees me was pretty rude and continues to be rude over an issue (colonscopy-tmi), which I told her NO I wasn't going to do. I have had enough poking and prodding for now, the hysterectomy about did me in. ANYWAYS---keep us updated if you do or don't.
Sounds like another good weekend and my mouth is watering at the thought of that sauce! I'll have to see if our Sam's has it the next time I go.
ReplyDeleteWe have been with our dr. for many years now too, and would be upset if he left us. Fortunately he is quite a big younger than us, so we are hoping he stays around. I know you are excited about your company and hope it is a good visit.
ReplyDeleteHmm...Perhaps not my taste in art...other than that, it must be wonderful to be able to go back and see old friends from work. I miss that....and sadly work too as I was lucky enough to love my job. Thank you Mr. Obama...(Couldn't resist!) but Obamacare is what did our hospital in...
ReplyDeleteBunk, it is not art I would put on my walls, but it IS colorful and spurs conversation! His "thing" is to make people really look, see through the layers he uses and see more than what you see at first glance. His talk explained it better than I am doing here!
DeleteHabanero, yesss! We don't belong to Sam's Club, but I'm going to look for that marinade at WalMart. You mentioned simmering the chops, but I'm hoping it would work in the slow cooker as well? I used to pour Picapeppa sauce over a block of cream cheese for dips, but this sounds yummy as well.
ReplyDeleteNurse Debbie sounds like a gem! I need to get off my you-know-what and find a primary care physician ...before I need one.
art exhibit looked like a lot of fun. The marinade looked yummy. I often put Trappist Monks sweet marmalade with cream cheese on celery or crackers. It is really good. Have a wonderful week. hugs, lj
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds lovely.
ReplyDeleteSun and rain here too!
And I am sorry about your doctor leaving.
My favorite doctor left a few months ago, and I was so sad.
Fortunately, the practice brought in a young woman who is a wonderful Physicians Assistant.
Have a cozy day!
Oh Terri, having to find a new doctor is literally a PAIN. I hope it works out for you to stay put. I have been going to my doctor for 20 years. He is younger than me so I hope he will not retire any time soon. I know you are enjoying your new role as a member at the Museum. I know it must seem a bit unreal as you get used to it.
ReplyDeleteMy doctor is younger than me and is not retiring. Her hubby is a doctor and took a teaching position down in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. My doctor will also be teaching and will only "doctor" about half time. They have family down there and it is a good move for them at this time of their lives (mid/late 50s) and kids are out of the nest. I'm happy for both of them, but hate losing her.
ReplyDelete"cleaning service"
ReplyDelete:-D
You're a Queen!
Wow! Where do I begin with this? So much going on in your lives...who ever said being retired meant nothing to do? I know it seems like we are always going somewhere...and dr. appts. seem to be a regular thing too...Never easy to make those changes... I envy you your cleaning service. I look at my house and just sigh...it's hard to even know where to begin...I try to tackle one room at a time, but then it is time to start all over again...never ending. I do hope you will enjoy your company and have good weather so you can do and go to all the things you were hoping to. Can't wait to hear all about it...take pictures!! Blessings to you and Joe.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that you can go back to the museum at times and see your friends!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your Dr. It's so hard to change! Hope your friend in the office is right and you can stay.
AAAAH ... it's a marinade. Looking at the bottle I thought it was an alternative to Guinness.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Going back to the art museum and getting to eat too sounds so fun. Changing doctors not so much. That was one of the things about moving to a new area nine years ago that I had not expected to be so hard. A new hairdresser was even harder. New dentist - still not happy with that change.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time with your guests. We’ll be heading your direction tomorrow and certainly are hoping for good weather.
