A Tuesday Catch-up!

We had a simply wonderful get-away this past weekend!!  It is always good to spend time with family and especially those we don't get to see often.  I posted a few photos from last week, with my niece Sara and her hubby Matthew. We'll start, then, with Saturday.  Joe and I got to the Beachcomber Resort in St. Pete Beach around 2:30.

We like the Beachcomber Resort.  This is where my family reunion of 26 was held three years ago.

The adult pool, which we all took advantage of (those are my toes).

The view from the beach bar/restaurant.

The bigger pool which is noisy and always full of kids having fun.

Sara, Matthew, and Jo Anne (my sister-in-law) were down the beach aways getting ready to parasail! We did not go to watch, but Sara shared these photos with me... It was Matt's first time!

We all met later and gathered for dinner together at Crabby Bill's Seafood Restaurant.  The Kelly clan have been enjoying meals at Crabby's for years and years.  It has become a family tradition of sorts.

Crabby Bill's a long time ago...

...and that same little guy today!

Here we  all are!

Sunday morning a few of us met in the lobby to trek across the street to Dunkin' Donuts for coffee and breakfast orders for all.  Our day then found us at the 'adult' pool where we camped out for the day.  We met a lovely couple from England who spend two weeks at the Beachcomber twice a year, in June and November. They've been doing that for 25 years. Wow. They were fun to talk to!!

We decided to stay put for dinner and after showers (sunscreen is SO sticky) we met back at Jimmy D's (best beach bar on St. Pete Beach).  They also serve very good food!  At sunset, everyone got a free shot of a rum punch. Not my favorite taste, but it was a nice gesture for sunset celebrations.

We made our trek across the street to Dunkin' again on Monday morning and met at the adult pool to share breakfast before Joe and I departed for home.  We had to say goodbye to Sara and Matt, who head back to Cincinnati this morning.  Jo Anne and Mike will check out and we get to keep them with us until Friday morning!!  Looking forward to a few more days with them! Stories to follow!

Oh... almost forgot!  These flowers were growing through the pool fence.  I thought they were very pretty.  Have no idea what they are, but they are pretty!

More fun ahead!! Thanks for checking in and for forgiving me for missing your blogs for a few days.

Peace & hugs dear friends!

  4. What a wonderful time you had with your family! That is so great. I am so happy for you to have this opportunity, and that you and Joe were feeling well enough to participate (Finally!) Those look like hibiscus to me, the red one must be a kind of double hibiscus, maybe? Very pretty. I'll be gone this weekend, but back next week.

  10. Yes, I'm pretty sure those are hibiscus(es) … beautiful! I don't recall the Beachcomber, but definitely Crabby Bills. Good food and good times! So glad your staycation was a winner! :)))

  12. Sounds like a fantastic getaway. I love to go to the beach (and here I am in a landlocked state!).

There is nothing quite like fresh Florida seafood. I am salivating just thinking about it. We went to Boston's Fish House when we were in Florida, and it was divine!!

Florida's Gulf Coast beaches are my faves, especially Clearwater Beach. I'm a bit envious of your getaway.

    Hugs,
    Patti

  14. Looks like we were both at the beach on Saturday! We were at Sand Key Beach in Clearwater. Google Maps says it's just 45 minutes from the Beachcomber! Looks like such a wonderful place to stay! I'm glad you had such a great time with family. We did too.
