Happy Easter Monday! We had a lovely weekend.
Friday, Joe had his appointment with the audiologist at the VA clinic. I took him there and waited in the car for him. The weather was beautiful and there weren't too many people there (for a change). He got his new hearing aids and they are so great! He can hear again!
I wanted a fish sandwich in the worst way so we went to Fish City Grill. I got my fish sandwich and Joe had catfish. It was good!
We went to the clubhouse Friday night to play Nickles. Our group of 18-20 will be dwindling soon as many of the 'snowbirds' head home. Last year at this time I was still working and we hadn't become acquainted with too many folks. Now we will be missing friends until they return in the Fall. :(
Saturday we ran a few errands, I did some laundry, we ordered delivery pizza and settled in to watch the Final Four basketball games. We were sorry Loyola lost, but they did and that means Villanova will play Michigan tonight. The Villanova/Kansas game was good and the Wildcats won with points to spare. Hoping for the same tonight!
Easter Sunday we set the alarm so we could get up for the 7:30 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Dawn was just breaking and I took this picture of the church as we sat at the traffic light. St. Joe's is the oldest of our four Catholic churches here in Lakeland. We arrived just after 7:00 and got a good parking place and a seat inside. Not always easy on holidays!
The altar looked pretty but I was surprised that they didn't have more lilies.
Helen and Cheryl go to the Methodist church and were coming for lunch after their services. We decided to eat in the kitchen since there were just four of us.
I made Easter baskets for each of them. Always fun. They brought both of us one too.
The picture of Helen, Joe, and Cheryl didn't turn out well so you just get to see the food. I made ham, deviled eggs, a tomato and cucumber salad, and Publix made the coleslaw and potato salad. Helen brought two pies - lemon meringue and a turtle/caramel pie. They were yummy!
Our son, Joey, video-called us from Kuwait. We got to see his apartment and the views from his windows. We chatted for a good 45 minutes. Amazing to talk like we are (almost) in the same room when he is thousands of miles away. There is a 7-hour difference.
Our neighbor, Sharon, popped over to say hello and to wish Joe well with the procedure. They leave on a cruise Thursday (17 days!) so we won't see them for a few weeks. It was good to catch up with her.
Today we need to visit the hospital for pre-admission paperwork. They will call tonight with the time we have to present on Tuesday. Hoping for early. We know they will be keeping him at least three days so we need to get a bag packed too.
This week will not be normal and I will most likely not be able to check in, though I will do a status update. We appreciate your prayers and good wishes!! It's comforting to know we have so many friends and family praying for Joe and his surgical team.
APRIL CHALLENGE Question #2: What is your earliest memory? I have answered this one before. I have several, but I remember when our backyard was flooded and my tricycle was sitting in the middle of the yard, in the high water. My mom, my grandma and I were on the cement patio looking at the flooded backyard and I was crying for my tricycle. Grandma took off her shoes and waded into the mess to rescue my bike. I remember my mom saying "Mother, you'll ruin your stockings!", but she got my bike for me. I was probably three.
I have to leave with this one last picture that I pulled from Facebook. Joe's younger brother and his wife have seven children. All but one are married. Three of the couples have produced this brood, which was captioned "cousins". I thought it was beyond cute...
That's all I have for you today! Thanks for your visit, as always!! Peace & hugs!!

Happy you had a good Easter, and prayers continue for Joe and the upcoming procedure. Do let us hear from you, when you can.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes and prayers for a good week and outcome. We were short on Lilies as well here. Not sure where they got to as the bulletin listed many contributors in memory of loved ones. I see them scattered about our community so I guess that is so all of us can enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteKeeping Joe and your son in prayer....I loved your photos, Terri. smiles
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty church! I just love the old Catholic churches. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteWe had only two lilies in church. My pastor was telling us that because of the wildfires in California, the sky was darkened and they lost about 40% of their lily plants. They were expensive and in short supply all over the country. Keeping Joe (and you) in my prayers. Let us know how everything goes.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a lovely day and those baskets are adorable! Your grandmother sounds a lot like my Nana. I sure miss her. The kids are cute! I think Tim's family has them beat, though. He is one of 7 siblings. All of them were married, but only 5 of them had children. From the 7 kids came 10 grandchildren, and (so far) the 10 grandchildren have produced 18 great-grands!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll be praying for Joe's surgery and the medical folks taking care of him.
Prayers and best wishes for the upcoming procedure.
ReplyDeleteYour Easter day looks lovely.
Blessings~
Mmm your dinner looks yummy + baskets are adorable.
ReplyDeleteKeep us posted on Joe.
So glad your Easter was special. I am spending the morning putting away my Easter things Hopeing joe's procedure goes well.
ReplyDeleteVery cute picture of the Cousins. Loved your post. You know Joe will be in my prayers as he goes through this procedure this week. You are in those prayers as well!
ReplyDeleteCute 'first memory' of your tricycle! That would make an impression on anybody when their wheels (no matter our age) are stuck in flood waters!!! Hugs to you, dear friend!
Terri - I love seeing all your pics! Looks like a wonderful Easter you had. I will say prayers for the upcoming procedure. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteI love sun rise services on Easter. That morning sky just makes it so special.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun easter baskets!!!
Praying for Joe tomorrow!!!
Praying for you and your husband.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and be with you always.
Well I've just done a huge catch up on your posts and was so sorry to learn about Joe's heart issues. Will be hoping everything goes well tomorrow and waiting for your updates. You've been having a busy time with friends and family visits, I hope you've got some quiet time scheduled for this week but support around should you need it. I had to laugh about the hearing aids. My Nick has them and he is useless with them. He either forgets to put them in (or just one of them) or he forgets to take them out when he should like before showering! Your April challenge is definitely easier than the A-Z. I'm not as ahead as I'd like to be for that but hopefully I'll get through. Thanks for your visits. I do appreciate them.
ReplyDeleteI can see you had a nice Easter weekend. Happy for Joe that he can now hear again. The fish sandwich and the catfish sure sounds good. I love catfish and haven't had any in quite some time. Have a wonderful and blessed week. Hugs
ReplyDeleteOh, and will be keeping Joe and you in prayers.
DeleteI LOVE that picture of "cousins"...that is priceless!! Would be fun if they did that every year, and then to compare as the years go by! Thinking of Joe tomorrow and praying all goes well for him. God is with him, and I am sure he will do fine. We'll be praying for you, too! Your Easter dinner looks/sounds wonderful. So nice you could share it with your friends. How marvelous to hear from Joey so far away. I'm sure he needed to hear your voices as much as you needed to hear his. Praying for him to be safe and come back home safely and happily. We will look forward to hearing from you later this week as you are able. Take care and God bless.
ReplyDeleteI love your new background, Terri! Your Easter observances sound lovely with not a lot of fuss or bother ... simple pleasures.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Villanova, and continued prayers for Joe's procedure!
Joe is going to be a new man - with the hearing aides and the new valve.
ReplyDeleteThe church photo is beautiful, and the kids are so cute!
Praying for both of you!
Keeping Joe and you in my prayers, Terri! This is the week I go "dark" for a few days on the computer. I will check in when I can to find out how Joe is doing.
ReplyDeleteLove and blessings to you both!
