Weekend Recap....

I have no new photos to share from our last few days.  It has been cold (for us) again and I just didn't take photos...

Thursday was my facial day.  It's always fun to catch up with Dawn.  She has a very precocious 18-month old granddaughter and is about to have a new grandson so we had lots to talk about.

Friday I had routine fasting labs at the medical clinic where our doctors are.  I left there and went right to Helen's house to pick her up for her appointment for rehab.  She has been having balance difficulties so her doctor ordered some therapy for that. Helen believes it is helping, which is great!  She is an amazing 89 years young!  When she finished there, we picked Joe up at home and we all went to Crispers for lunch (salads and sandwiches).  We got her home before 3:00.  It was nice spending time with her!

Friday night, we met our friends Teena and Randy for dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse.  It was fun catching up with them and enjoying some great conversation. We stayed too long in the booth talking after we paid for our meals.  I felt bad to keep our waiter, who was very good, from seating another group but we were having such a good time. We did tip well and I don't think he was upset with us.  I mentioned to Teena that next time we will have dessert at our house so we don't have to end the visit until we are ready!

Saturday evening, we were invited next door for hamburgers on the grill and a little party. Sharon and Bob are always entertaining.  They have lived in Mas Verde for 14 years and know lots of people. The other dozen guests on Friday were all Canadians who have only recently arrived for the winter. It was fun meeting new folks.  We really had a nice time, and talk about a small world... I was asked if I had ever been to Canada, so mentioned my family's summer vacations at the fishing camp on Rice Lake. Well, one of the couples is from there and though they weren't familiar with Nina's Camp (from the 1960s and probably long gone) we talked about my fun experiences there.

Yesterday was a much enjoyed day at home, though I did invite Helen and Cheryl to stop by after church for lunch with us.  Helen loves ham and bean soup with cornbread so I make it for her/us every month or so.  I double the recipe so there are leftovers to send home with them.  We enjoyed the visit.  Joe wanted pizza for supper which was fine with me.  It goes well with football games and all we did the rest of the day was watch football.

This morning I am off to the Clubhouse for the Monday morning ladies' coffee. There is a homeowners' association meeting tonight.

That was our weekend.  How was yours?  Thanks for your visit!!  Peace & hugs.

  1. We don't do too much in the winter...too cold to go out unless we have to. Brrr. Sounds like you had a nice weekend.
    Have a great day!

  2. Since we are snowed in, we didn't do anything...time to shovel out today as I have classes tomorrow. Do you know, we haven't watched one football game this season...we got tired of the kneelers.

Have a great day, Terri. smiles

  5. We are sometimes guilty of staying too long after our meal. It's so hard to leave when the company is so enjoyable.

  6. Dealing with the cold here (as you are). Our local TV weather lady said this morning, "Who put in an order for winter? I didn't!"

I had to smile. It's definitely more of a winter here than I had expected. Sometimes I think we should have landed a little farther south of here .... but I LOVE our house!

    Stay warm dear friend!

    1. It is cold here too, but please know that this is SO unusual for us! It has been years since we had these cold temps for such an extended time period.

  8. I'm chuckling, remembering a couple (OK, a few) times I was having such fun over dinner that we over-stayed our welcome. Once, at a Fuddruckers the staff locked the front door and began putting chairs up on tables around the room. Whoops! That was really nice, your acknowledging the server's patience.

  9. It seems to be colder than usual over much of the country.
You and Joe and such a blessing to the people around you. It always brings a smile to my face.
