Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 339
From Joyce: Here we are in the last Hodgepodge of the month. Say what??? 'Tis true...we're rolling into February this week. Answer the questions on your own blog then run back HERE tomorrow to share answers with the universe.
1. Speaking of endings....at your wit's end, at loose ends, a dead end, burn the candle at both ends, all's well that end's well, or no end in sight...which 'end' phrase might best be applied to your life lately? Explain. Burning at both ends and at wit’s end, just because we have been so busy lately (all good!) and at my wit’s end because I have to go back to the Museum for another year-end project that needs my help. I really don’t mind helping, and they are paying me for my time, but I really wonder what they would do if I moved across the country and couldn’t go in to help. Seems like they would figure it out. I’m really done with the work. I don’t want to do it anymore. I’m retired. Sigh. BUT… I love the people and I love the Museum so I'm there.
2. What was a must-have accessory when you were growing up? You mean the hip-hugger bell bottom jeans, peasant tops, and moccasins? Did you own one? Yes, I did. If so tell us what you remember about it. I was thin and young and so into the 60s.
3. Something that made you smile yesterday? A visit from our friends, Al and Theresa, and also making plans for a trip to Mazzaro’s with all six of our neighbors…Monday, Feb. 5th!
4. January 30th is National Croissant Day. Do you like croissants? Yes, I do! Sweet or savory? Either. We're having chicken salad for lunch...would you rather have yours served on a croissant, a wrap, a bagel, bread, or a roll of some sort? A croissant makes a lovely chicken salad sandwich. Thank you!
5. Sum up your January in fifteen words or less. Full of blessings and crazy busy!
6. Insert your own random thought here. Next week (February 8th) is the one-year anniversary of the closing on our new home here in Mas Verde. It’s hard to believe it has been a year in some ways, but in others, we feel like we have always lived here. Joe and I talk about it frequently, how blessed we have been to live here. It has been so much better than we ever imagined. We had wonderful neighbors on the other side of town and have hit the jackpot of neighbors here on S. Charlotte Street too. So blessed.

Thanks for your visit today! Happy Hodgepodge! Peace & hugs!!

It's good to be needed .... even when retired. It's such a compliment and validation that enhances a person's sense of worth.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your move to Mas Verde has been confirmed to you so throughly.
So happy that you are happy with your new home and neighborhood. The Museum knows a good thing in you, and still depend on you, even tho you are retired. Hopefully, they will soon learn how to take care of the things they ask of you.
ReplyDeleteI'd like my chicken salad on a bagel. Mmmm
ReplyDeleteHopefully this will be the last project at the Museum that they need you for.
Wow doesn't seem like a year already in your new home.
Have a great day!
Terri my accessory was a crocheted poncho!! I am sure I looked super cool in it. Hard to believe you have been in your new home a year already. So glad you are happy there.
ReplyDeleteOh how I agree with the croissant and the chicken salad, smiles. Hope you have a beautiful day friend, smiles.
ReplyDeleteBoy howdy, this year really went fast!! Can't believe it..Last year I had no idea I would be here... life always offers interesting turns.
ReplyDeleteI love croissants and a chicken salad on croissant sandwich sounds yummy. I was asked to help out at the library after I left also, but there comes a time when they have to learn for themselves. Hope this is the last time they call you and the next time you go will be just to visit. This year went so quickly. It doesn't seem as if you have been in your new house that long.
ReplyDeleteIs Mas Verde like a retirement of 55 and over. You have so many friends. I am burning my candle at both ends too. And I LOVE croissants too. Love, sandie
ReplyDeleteYes, Sandie, Mas Verde is a 55+ manufactured home community. I don't say mobile homes because there is nothing mobile about them! LOL We love it!
DeleteHip huggers and peasant tops! We could have been twins! Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteLove chicken salad on a croissant!! Laughing at #2, only because I had the same 'must-have' accessory! It was a fun time.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteIt is great to have good neighbors, it makes all the difference.
Carla
I'd quite forgotten about the peasant blouses, but would love to see them come 'round again.
ReplyDelete'Have to agree with your thoughts about the museum. "What if?" indeed! While it's lovely to be wanted, it sounds like they're a bit like our folks at corporate, asking for the same things over and again. My boss' reasoning, "It's easier to ask for them again, than to try and look."
Your experiences and tales of your living the past year are just so happy! I get it about the way you feel about the work, but you are the kind of person to go help out ... and they know it!
ReplyDeleteI had the bell bottom pants too - and was also skinny and young. I wore them in the early 70's when I was in junior high.
ReplyDeleteA chicken salad croissant sounds wonderful.
It's hard to believe you've had your place for a year. So glad you have had some happiness there!
I didn't think about bell bottom pants and peasant tops! Good answer!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you're working again :)

I really can't believe Y'all have been in the new place for one year already. I thought you just moved in last week. LOL I had cousins who wore the bell bottoms but they were teenagers and my younger cousin and I didn't get to wear cool stuff because we were 'too young for that' or so we were told and we didn't like it one bit. LOL
ReplyDeleteTime flys when you're having fun and definitely in your case Terri. Don't wear yourself out though as you said if you'd moved further away the museum would have had to cope. Hopefully you're spending some of your time educating them so they won't need you so much. Although it's always nice to feel needed.
ReplyDeleteMy Minnetonka Moccasins are one of my accessories that have passed the test of time..I still wear them 40+ years later. Not the same pair, I've wore through at least 5 or 6 pairs over the years. I love my Minnetonkas!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Lori in Blue Ridge, GA
Oh I am so late to everyone's Hodgepodge! It makes me happy that your move across town has had such positive consequences for you. That is wonderful. And I chuckled at your hip hugger bell bottoms. And of course a tight fitted rib knit shirt was tucked into mine, accessorized by a chain belt. I'd forgotten that! Thanks for dredging it up. Lol
ReplyDeleteHa Ha, hip hugger bell bottoms...I did have some of those too...and love beads...and mini skirts...(not TOO short...but a lot shorter than I'd dare wear today!!) Oh, no! They just won't let you go, will they? That's a sign you were a very indispensable and much loved employee. I hope you can enjoy your weekend and fun time next week with friends, etc. I don't know if we will be able to get down there for a game this year or not...sounds like you all are busy, and we just can't seem to get our act together to make any plans. Time is just slipping away... I can't believe it is February already! Take care and be blessed.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from the frozen north. I really did not get the accessory question. It must be a man thing. I'm glad that you are enjoying your retirement so much.
ReplyDeleteRe: Super Bowl...I think that your Eagles could pull out a win. All the sports talking heads are heavily favoring the Patriots and they are often wrong. I think it's going to be a great game, a low scoring game, something on the order of 14-17. In any event, enjoy the game.
Have a great week and GO PATRIOTS!
It's good to be busy even in retirement. A bit of work and exercise is good for anyone. I like it. I could sit and watch other people doing it all day ... only, I get told off and given tasks to do. The other day I was sitting there watching TV. There was nothing good on. I was asked; "What's on TV?" I replied: "Just dust!"
ReplyDeleteGot the silent treatment all day!
God bless.
