Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 337
A big thank you shout out to our Hodgepodge Hostess, Joyce!! She gives us the awesome and fun questions to answer on our blogs and then we jump back to On This Side of The Pond and link up with other Hodgepodgers!
1. What keeps you blogging? I love the connections I’ve made here and count you all as friends. I also love having a “journal” of my life that I can refer back to now and then. Blessings abound!
2. Some people like to travel in the winter months. Do you enjoy the beach in winter? For walking, not swimming or sunbathing. According to Southern Living the best U.S. beach towns to visit this winter are-
St Simons Island (Georgia), Hilton Head (South Carolina), Bald Head Island (North Carolina), Seaside (Florida), Bay St. Louis (Mississippi), Cape San Blas (Florida), South Padre Island (Texas), Folly Beach (South Carolina), Chincoteague (Virginia), Duck Key (Florida), Nags Head (North Carolina), and Fairhope (Alabama)
Have you been to any of the towns listed (in any season)? Yes. I have been to St. Simons and to Folly Beach. Which on the list appeals to you most this winter? I’ll go with the Florida beaches in winter because they won’t be quite as cold as the others.
3. What's a song you're embarrassed to know all the lyrics to? Are you really embarrassed or do just think you should be? There are some pretty silly songs from back in the day and I know the words to many of them. I am not embarrassed by that though. How about this one…
4. When you were a kid what's something you thought would be fantastic as an adult, but now that you're an adult you realize it's not all that fantastic? Well, I think we all have fantastic visions of what the future would bring, including that life is easy. Guess what? Life ain’t easy! LOL I think we start to get it by the time we are heading off to college and/or starting life on our own. It is still pretty darn fantastic, though!
5. Share a quote you hope will inspire you in 2018. “Fellowship is a place of grace, where mistakes aren’t rubbed in but rubbed out. Fellowship happens when mercy wins over justice.” -Rick Warren
Fellowship is my “word” for 2018 because I have discovered how much I need the fellowship of others in my life. I am also missing the fellowship found in a church family and we are still searching for that.
6. Insert your own random thought here. We are excited to have a long weekend coming up with our son and daughter-in-law. We will be celebrating Joey’s retirement and we also (finally) get to meet our grand-horses!! Yes, I will have pictures!!

Thanks for visiting my post today! Thanks again to Joyce! Happy Wednesday, Y'all! Peace & hugs.

Good morning! I guess the Florida beaches are a bit chilly this winter. When we lived there we went in the winter and went swimming, but we didn't get so much cold weather then. Thank you, I will be singing about one-eyed, flying purple people eaters all day! LOL I am planning to begin the search for a church this year, too. Sigh. Such a tough process.
ReplyDeleteEXCELLENT QUOTE by Rick Warren. I had not heard that one before, but wow, it's good. Lord, help me to remember this truth!
ReplyDeleteAs for the One-eyed One-horned, Flying Purple People Eater, -- I had long forgot about that one but yes, I'll admit it. I know the words to it from way back when! Sister and I used to sing it in the back of the car when our family went places.
A fun post today, and the Flying Purple People Eater cant be forgotten! I have not been to a beach in the wintertime at all, but have visited some listed in spring and summer. I agree with the statement of Billy Graham at the bottom of your page.....and pray you can find the right church soon. As you know, mine means the world to me, and is important in my life. Happy Wednesday to you and Joe!
ReplyDeleteI love your word for 2018! Fellowship is perfect to stride towards as we start the new year off! I miss blogging. I recently went to my blog and I was amazed at my "diary". There were posts about events that I had forgotten about. It was so nice taking a trip down memory lane. Enjoy your visit with your son and daughter-in-law! Looking forward to seeing pictures!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard Flying Purple People Eater in a long time. lol
ReplyDeleteWe have beaches about 10 minutes away. I love it in the winter, no crowds. We vacation in Chincoteague. I haven't been to any other beaches on the list.
Can't wait to see your grand-horses.
Have a great day!
Sadly, I know all the lyrics to that song, too, Terri - Lol! The things that get stuck in our minds.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll add Jekyll Island to that list of favorite beach spots in the off-season. As cold as it is here right now, I sure wish I was there.
Blessings to you!
Oh I know that lyrics to that song too! As well as many others from the 70s...Build Me Up Buttercup comes to mind.lol I wish I were visiting you today Terrie. It is 10 degrees right now..high will be 24. But then 60 on Sunday. Come on Sunday!!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope that you and Joe will find a church family soon. It is not an easy thing, believe me. And any time you want, I'll join you in singing,'One eyed one horned flying purple people eater.' :-))
ReplyDeleteGrandhorses! How fun! I will likely be singing the One eyed, one horned, flying purple people eater all day now : )
ReplyDeleteI remember that silly song and a few others! Love the Rick Warren quote and your word for 2018.
ReplyDeletePurple People Eater ... yes! (giggle) Around the time this was popular I asked my mother to make me a PPE Halloween costume. (First time I recall her halo slipping just a bit.)
ReplyDeleteYou're the second person I know to express 'restlessness' regarding their present church. (Maybe that's not the right word....) I'll never forget something our pastor in Clearwater once said about EVERYone being welcome: "I don't care if you're Jewish, Baptist, Buddhist ... or if you worship goats. I want you to go where your soul is fed."
Your pastor was wise!! I would love to have seen a PPE costume!
DeleteGlad you will be spending time with your son and dil. Grandhorses, oh what fun.... I will also be singing purple people eater all day. I loved that song, lol.... hugs, lj
ReplyDeleteI love the Purple People Eater - lol. Are you cold today - we have snow and closed school. Life is not easy. I like Rick Warren.
ReplyDeleteOne good reason to continue Blogging is that we do not know who may be visiting our Blogs, and through what we write, get to know about God.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
The Rick Warren quote is great !!
ReplyDeleteThat was a fun song - - I, too, remember it. It made a person smile.
Hooray for family time coming up!
So - now I have the purple people eater song in my head! :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend!
I think lots of us have realised that becoming an adult isn't always as much fun as we thought it would be lol.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from the Granite State. I too enjoy reading your HP answers. It appears that most people blog, at least in part, because of the Wednesday Hodgepodge. I agree with you on the need for fellowship. I cherish the time I spend with my church family. Fellowship really enhances ones life. Enjoy your visit.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only person who never heard that song before??
ReplyDeleteA year ago at this time I visited a beach in San Diego on my unexpectedly solo trip there, haha!
I didn't realize you were looking for a church family. I am not familiar with churches in your area, but I pray you will find a place that feels welcoming and feeds your souls.
