I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here are today's questions!
Saturday 9: I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm (2006)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) Bette Midler sings about the storm that's raging outside. How's the weather where you are today? Getting warmer, thank goodness!
2) She mentions her gloves. Tell us about your favorite pair of gloves or mittens. I am so happy to not own a pair of gloves or mittens now!
3) Does your home have a fireplace to keep you warm? No fireplace!
4) Bette's father, Fred, supported his family as a house painter. Have you ever held a job that kept you outdoors a great deal of the time? No, unfortunately. When I earned my lifeguard credentials (in my teens) I never got to work as a lifeguard because the State of Ohio would not hire girls to lifeguard in the state parks. Buckeye Lake has two beaches but girls weren't allowed. No pool in our little town back then.
5) Her mother, Ruth, was a talented seamstress. How about you? Can you sew on a button? Raise a hem? Darn a hole? I can sew and have accomplished all of those things and then some. I haven't had the sewing machine out for anything other than repairs for many years though.
6) 2017 was a big year for Bette. At the age of 72, she opened on Broadway in the revival of Hello, Dolly! and won a Tony. As we kick off 2018, what would you like to accomplish this year? I love Bette Midler, by the way. I really haven't given much thought to any goals or things to accomplish this year. I guess I just hope to get through each day and keep Joe and myself healthy!

7) Bette and her husband Martin have been married for nearly 34 years. Their wedding was officiated by an Elvis impersonator. Are you looking forward to any weddings in 2018? No weddings in the family so far in 2018. One never knows, though.
8) Bette and Martin are very proud of their daughter, Sophie, now 30, who graduated from Yale in 2008. Do you expect to attend any graduation ceremonies in 2018? My niece, Kelly, is graduating from Ohio University in the fall, but she told her mom she doesn't want to walk. Tristan has another year before he graduates from SMU. Not sure we will go to Texas for it, in 2019. So no... no ceremonies in 2018.
9) Random question: Yesterday, who did you spend the most time with? I spent the day (as always) with my sweetheart, Joe.

THIS IS THE FIRST SATURDAY 9 OF 2018!
Let's hope it's a great year.
Thanks again to Crazy Sam for this week's questions! Thanks to all of you for your visit today!
Peace & hugs!

p.s. why doesn't she want to walk? She will be charged for her cap and gown anyways, so walk. smiles. Be proud and make her parents proud too, smiles.
ReplyDelete"walk"? I ran..... there were thousands graduating it seemed and I couldn't see putting my family and friends through hours of it....but we did party hearty!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it hear it warmed up there. WE aren't supposed to warm up here until Monday.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
"Getting warmer" and "no mittens." Rub it in! lol
ReplyDeleteStaying healthy is a pretty good goal for the year.
Have a great day!
Getting caught up here.... the two-tier centerpiece you posted on your blog yesterday is very cute. I could do something similar. Thanks for the inspiration
ReplyDeleteToday, thanks for the info on Bette Midler. Learned some things I didn't know.
Enjoy this first weekend of the new year!
Terri, I have a pair of fingerless gloves that were crocheted for me by a friend and I was very thankful for them this week!! My first memory of Bette Midler is her singing Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy from an album one of my nursing school friends owned. I loved it.
ReplyDeleteGlad it is warming there, and hopefully it will here by next week. I am a little tired of this 'teen' weather. If I cant have snow, I dont want just plain freezing cold. I have gloves, tobogan, scarf, etc. and have sure used them lately. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteBy warming, we are just into the 50s instead of the 40s. It is supposed to keep warming a bit each day. Still too cold for me!!
DeleteOh my! I have at least two pairs of gloves, and I wear them frequently during the winter here, yes in Florida. Driving gloves, or when we take a walk in the early morning. They have felt good this week. No weddings this year, but we had a big one last year. Our only grandson will graduate high school this year, in Maine. We are planning to go attend, Lord willing. I can sew, but don't do much of it anymore. I did make a cute pillowcase for John's cousin this past year, from a vintage embroidered table scarf that belonged to her grandmother. That was my biggest sewing event in a long time. Probably will be a long time before I do any more. LOL. My outdoor job was at a Horseback Riding stable one summer in NH. That was fun, except for shoveling the horse manure... This was fun. Thank you for sharing it with us. I love Bette Midler too, and I didn't know all of that info, so this was interesting.
ReplyDeleteGood grief ... Bette's 72 y/o?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy about Ohio not allowing you to work as a Lifeguard because of your gender. :(
Keeping yourself and Joe healthy throughout 2018 is a super goal!
Hugs!
I love to hear Bette Midler sing, she has a great voice and one of my favorite movies is Beaches! Went to GLOW for a few hours, other than that I've shared my day with Mr D.
