We have had a nice weekend!! Not too busy with plenty of time to loaf around being lazy. Perfect.
Friday evening we went out to dinner with friends, Helen and Cheryl, to celebrate Cheryl's 60th birthday. One of the biggies. She chose Reececliff (local diner) so we met them there at 6:00 and had a good meal and conversation. They came to our place afterward for cake and ice cream. (Helen is feeling much better, by the way.)
Saturday morning was lazy with nothing on the calendar. Joe worked on cleaning up his office a bit. He finally (FINALLY) sent letters out to his clients that he is done.retired.for good this time. He told me he feels relief knowing he won't have 40 tax returns to do after the first of the year. Forty is down from over 100, but still too much. He kept only a few folks who are easy to work with (and pay on time!). I'm happy for him (and me too!).
While he did that, and since we didn't get to go to Mazarro's on Friday, I got the Pizzelle iron out and made Joe some Italian cookies....
He told me mine are better than the ones we buy at Mazarro's. LOL....good man!
Saturday, late afternoon, we got a call from our soon-to-be new neighbors, Al & Theresa. They were working at the new house (here in Mas Verde) and wanted to know if we wanted to go out to eat with them around 5:00. We said of course and went over there a little early so we could see their new home. It is smaller than ours but is a very cute two bedroom/two bath home. New paint and new floors will make it theirs! Dinner was fun. We went to Cheddars and agreed that we would get to eat out together more often when they get moved in this coming weekend.
Sunday was another lazy morning and that continued to the afternoon. We both puttered around a bit here and there but spent most of the day watching Red Zone football. Joe hasn't stopped watching, but we were happy to read that VPOTUS Pense walked out on one of the games when a few of the players took a knee in protest to the National Anthem and our Flag. The players are being so stupid. Enough of the disrespect. Enough.
When I sit in my chair and get my computer out lately, Vinny and Lucy have to take turns with me so they can watch the birds and squirrels videos. I love how they get so into it. I have to put a magazine over the keyboard to keep them from stepping all over the keys and wrecking havoc with the video!
Several of my friends here have been posting photos of fall decorations so I got these pictures to share of a few things around our house....
Dining room table centerpiece.
Wreath on the front door.
Cute doo-dad I found at Dollar General.
My only Halloween decorations...
My glass pumpkin by glass artist Susan Gott.
We have several pieces done by her. You can visit her website HERE.
And lastly.... it was actually cool enough on Saturday morning to have the back door open (to the carport). Vinny and Lucy were quite interested.....
I am excited that we will have blogging friend Lynda and her hubby visiting today! They will arrive around 10:00. We have a visit to the Museum on the schedule. The Museum is closed to the public on Mondays but I made a phone call to make sure I still have back-door privileges and was assured that I did. A tour of Lakeland and lunch at Crispers are also on the schedule. Hoping they enjoy the day here!!
Wishing you a good Monday and week ahead! Thanks for the visit! Peace & hugs.

Looks like an eventful weekend and all the best with the meet up with blog friends. Greetings!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect weekend to me!! We had lots of rain from Nate yesterday and this morning its all hot and muggy again. We had gotten spoiled with some fall like weather!! So glad Joe is going to take it easier too!! My mother used to do taxes for people and our house would be full of those who waited until the last minute to file their forms.:) Have fun with Lynda.
ReplyDeleteYour autumn decorations are great. I'm not into decorating for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteCute that the kitties enjoy that video!
Have a good visit today with the blogging friend!
Sounds like a nice weekend. That's adorable that the kitties watch videos. Your Fall decorations are cute.
ReplyDeleteHave a day with your friends!
Congratulations to Joe!! And Happy belated birthday to Cheryl. smiles
ReplyDeleteHope you have a beautiful day friend, another rainy day here in the north.
I am glad Joe is retiring too! And you did enough in a weekend to fill my week. You have lots of nice friends there.
ReplyDeleteRetirement is treating you well...and, I'm so glad Mr. Joe is going to officially join you! You always have such a great time. Your cats are too cute, watching bird videos! It's like they know that computer holds something just for them. :) The cake looks delicious...sweet celebration with your friends. And, your fall decorations are so pretty....my favorite...well, except for CHRISTmas!!!
ReplyDeleteI love fall decorations. Shame I havent pulled mine out yet. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteThose cookies are so beautiful!!!
Such pretty cats...mine seems to have given up on viewing outside excitement and prefers her two meals and a cot! Seems to make her happy.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great you still have privileges at the museum! That cake looks wonderful and now I'd like to have some. LOL I love your fall decorations. I haven't had a second to do anything around here. I have a friend who makes those beautiful cookies. I guess I need to call her and find out when she's making them because now I want cookies, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed visiting and playing catch up from the weekend. Sounds like you not only had some fun, but had some good food as well.I know you will enjoy Lynda and her husband and look forward to pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt looks nice at your place, and I love Vinny and Lucy. They are good friends!
ReplyDeleteI've never had a pizelle. They are so pretty!
I like your Fall decorations! I got a few out this weekend too and need to take some pics. What a lovely birthday party and I hope you had fun today too. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYour front door wreath looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Joe wasn't fully retired, but this decision must feel like an enormous relief for both of you. Nice that he was still in demand, but I wonder how many people realize how 'taxing' (pun intended) the season can be. When I worked for CB&H in St. Pete, it wasn't unusual for my boss to sleep in her car the last couple months, v. drive to Hudson each evening.
I think that your Joe looks like a movie star. He is so handsome. I like your fall decorations and the Pizzelle iron. I have never tasted them but I bet that Joe is right. Yours would taste better than the ones we see in the stores and restaurants.
