My Weekend Recap on Monday.....

Another weekend is behind us and it was split between September and October.  How often does that happen, I wonder?  Can you believe it is October already?  Joe and I have been in our new house seven months (what?!) and I have been retired for two months!  Speaking of retired, Joe and I are having dinner out tonight with my former boss and still my friend, Claire. Looking forward to it!

Friday, I had lunch with my lunch-bunch girlfriends, Cindee, Shirley, and Heather.  Melody couldn't come down and I totally forgot to mention it to Terry.  My bad.  Most of the time she can't come because of work, but I felt really bad that I forgot to let her know.  The four of us had a nice time catching up.  Heather is just back from England and seeing her mom. Her mom is in assisted living over there now, and the house had to be sold, etc.  It was hard on her and her sister, and even harder when she had to leave and come home. Tough stuff to get through.

Friday evening, Al and Theresa stopped by after they went through their new home here in Mas Verde.  (Al has worked at the Museum for a dozen years or so.)   We opened a bottle of wine to celebrate their closing.  They are taking the month of October to move and want to put in new flooring and paint, etc., so they have time to get things done while still working fulltime. This photo wasn't at our house, but this is Al & Theresa.... (young whipper-snappers aren't 60 yet!).

Theresa and I have already talked about one of the events coming up here in our community. It is a bus trip up to Mount Dora for a craft fair.  We're going to go together and it should be lots of fun!

Saturday, we went to the downtown Farmer's Market and while there we ran into our across-the-street neighbors, Anne and Paul.  No photos of them, but I did snap a few of the market.  It takes up three city blocks every Saturday from 8:00-2:00.  We bought tomatoes, celery, and lettuce.

From there we went to Sam's Club for a few things, including gasoline for the car.  Sam's always has the best price for gasoline and they didn't disappoint us.  Everywhere else is still over $2.45, most over $2.50.  Sam's was $2.40!!  I have yet to put gasoline in the car because Joe is always with me when we need to fill up..... (kinda nice!).

From Sam's we still had a list for Walmart and then finally got home.  I had an email waiting that told me my friend Gregory, got home from the hospital!!  Last communication from him said Sunday or Monday, so I was happy he got home a day earlier than anticipated. We will stop over for a visit later this week.  Thank you to all who kept him in your prayers!!

Sunday was just a lazy day.  Slept in until 8:30 or so.  We invited our across-the-street neighbors over for some wine and cheese.  They haven't been in our house yet... we usually are just talking in the street or one carport or the other.  It was fun getting to know them better!!

Oh...Vinny was jealous that Lucy got to spend time with me watching birds and squirrels, so I had to give him his 10 minutes too....

Today, Joe has a doctor appointment follow-up and that is all that we have on the calendar so far.  Nice.  Have I mentioned how much I am loving retirement? (wink)

I posted this picture on FB yesterday in response to another post with a picture of her Shirley Temple creamer.  I have never known anyone else to have one of these, so I was excited to see hers.  We actually had two of them.  I got my mom's and one of my sisters got Grandma's.  Do you have one?

That's all for the weekend and today!  Thanks for your visit!!  Peace & hugs.

  5. Lucky you to get fresh vegetables... our pick here is really bad. Publix doesn't offer much.. I was surprised to find this in Florida. I thought it would be fresh veggies all the time. Some have told me its because its too hot... but doesn't look that way.

    1. Our Farmer's Market is great and we have a few vegetable stands around that also usually have good choices. We have found the organic selection of produce to be better at Publix. Of course, it is more expensive too.

  8. Jay and I do the gas thing together I put in the credit card and punch the answers and he pumps the gas! We have a station down the street which is convenient and also the cheapest in our area. Sam's is too far for us. It's hard to believe it's been 7 months since you moved. It's wonderful to be retired.

  10. I agree...the creamer is very beautiful! I've never seen one like it. I have lots of dolls...but no Shirley Temple. They are a little harder to find, I guess! Retirement is great...and BUSY too! Hugs!

  12. Thank goodness Gregory is recovering well enough to be released!

When I worked for Jim Walter Corp., some of us drove over to Mt. Dora for their arts and crafts fair. Totally delightful; it's a shame we never went back. I hope you'll love it!

PS - Do you think that image of Shirley Temple looks a little like our friend, Stacy? Cute. :)

  14. You lead such a full life. It's hard to believe you've been in your new home for seven months. It seems that retirement suits you.
