Blogging friends,
I will post photos and tell you about our wonderful trip to Ohio next week, (or) whenever the power comes back on.
We KNOW we will be without power. We do have a generator and Joe got extra gasoline. We will be conserving its use though.
We will be going to Helen's house Sunday morning if Irma is still hurricane force and bearing down on central Florida. We have hurricane tie-downs and stabilizers, but winds higher than 100 mph will be testing the cables. Helen has a lovely home with an extra bedroom for us and she will welcome us and the cats. We have had offers from a few folks, and I could have begged space at the Museum, but I think we will be safe at Helen's house. Cheryl (her niece) also lives there.
We are not in a flood zone and Polk County is over 200 feet above sea level. Heavy rains are a potential problem, but we have heavy rains all summer. Fortunately, Irma is not dropping rain like Harvey did.
Your prayers for us and all in Irma's path are appreciated! Pray that Irma breaks up before she causes too much damage anywhere!
Two granddaughters are staying home, just north of Miami. We aren't happy about it and pray for their safety.
I'll touch base as I can! Scary stuff down here. Peace & hugs.
Stay safe! The track does not favor you right now, but it should be weaker by the time it arrives. I have had a hotel room north of Atlanta booked for a few days, but that's where Irma is headed, so we are staying here, shutters on and hoping for the best. Local weather says 50-75 winds here. Not a good welcome to Florida!
ReplyDeleteNot a good welcome, but you can claim that you survived Irma (a hurricane) and that makes you a real Floridian!! You are being indoctrinated early!
DeletePraying for you!!!! Stay as safe as you can. Asking for God's protection!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeletePrayers! Thank you for the update, Terri!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteKeeping you in prayer. My folks/family are in Ocala, they are not leaving, my mom, "We have been here for 42-43 yrs. We're not leaving."
ReplyDeleteKeeping all in prayer.
Wow! Praying for your granddaughters. May the Lord protect them and keep them safe. Praying also for you and Joe. So happy you have such good friends nearby who are opening their home to you. Such a blessing! We are battening down the hatches here and preparing as best we can. God is with us!! See you next week (or whenever we have power again!)
ReplyDeleteBlessings!!! I am breathing prayers for this situation constantly. Lisa and George are not leaving, but will most likely stay with friends since their house has so much glass. They are prepping their place today the best they can.
ReplyDeleteJust let us hear from you, when you can, but save minutes for family. We will be praying. Love you.
ReplyDeletePrays for all in the path of Irma. Hope all goes well for you and Joe.
ReplyDeleteI have been wondering about your plans. You are all in our prayers and I'll be watching for updates when you can give them.
ReplyDeleteI just saw that Irma is headed to the west coast instead of the east as they initially thought. Good for your granddaughters, not so good for you. Praying for you & Joe, and everyone in her path.
ReplyDeleteStay safe x
ReplyDeleteThanks for this update, Terri. This is unnerving but like you, we are as prepared as we know to be. Beloved and I included you and Joe, by name, in our prayers this morning.
ReplyDeleteWe should have some interesting material for blog posts after the storm has passed!
Thanks for the prayers (you are in ours too!). Yes...good blog material and we will hopefully be posting from undamaged homes with the power on!! Hugs!
DeleteStay safe. Update when you can. *hug*
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Guys. Thought we were gonna dodge that bullet, but now the forecasters aren't so sure. We've got the cars out from under any trees and have full tanks of gas for the generator for if/when we get hit (Monday/Tuesday). Its a beast of a storm. Prayers, Sweetie.
ReplyDeleteYes, scary stuff indeed, Terri! We have been praying for you and Joe. I wish the granddaughters would get out of there. This storm sounds ferocious. Love and prayers! Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteOne granddaughter has gone to a co-worker's home that has hurricane shutters, so she and her cat should be safe there. Our other granddaughter is with her significant other, who is former military and will hopefully use common sense for the two of them to stay safe!! Prayers appreciated!!
DeleteI should have driven down to Cincinnati and stopped you from going home. I so wish you have stayed in Ohio. However, I am glad that you are in a safer home and someone else is with you. Having others around is a great help. Our prayers are with you.
ReplyDeletePrayers, sweet Friend. Please take care.
ReplyDeletePraying for you, Joe and all that are in the path of the hurricane. Hugs
