Joyce, our Hodgepodge Hostess, gives us the questions and when we answer them, we link up with her and so many other Hodgepodgers! Join in the fun!!
1. What's something you'd rate a 10/10? Tell us why. I would give our hostess, Joyce, and her weekly Hodgepodge, a 10 out of 10! Why? Because it is a bright spot in my week here in blog land! Something I can always count on to pull me out of the usual ho-hum post. Thank you, Joyce!!
2. What job would you be terrible at? Ha! Singing, speaking in public...(this could be a long list!)!! What makes you think so? I don't just think it, I KNOW it!! LOL No one wants to hear me sing anymore and I am a terrible public speaker.
3. When did you last take a fall? As a matter of fact, it was just yesterday! Joe and I both fell in the parking lot of our barber, after our haircuts. Had nothing to do with lack of hair making us off balance. (grin) I tripped on a cement wheel stop and my fall caused Joe to fall because he tried to catch me. We both skinned elbows and Joe has a bad 'burn' on his arm that will be purple tomorrow. So blessed that neither of us broke anything. Stupid accident (aren't they all?)! (Teena, you came out when we had just gotten ourselves up and in the car!) What's something you're falling for (in a good way) these days? I am still falling for my new life as a retired person! It feels so good to sleep longer than 5:00 a.m. and to really not have a stressful schedule anymore. So good!!

4. According to the Travel Channel here are some of America's best fall festivals-
National Apple Harvest Festival (near Arendtsville PA, close to Gettysburg), Harvest on the Harbor (Portland Maine), German Village Festival (Columbus Ohio), Wellfleet Oyster Fest (Cape Cod), and Wine and Chile Fiesta (Santa Fe NM)
Have you ever been to any of the festivals listed? No. Which one appeals to you most? I have to say the German Village Festival in Columbus because I LOVE German Village. I would also enjoy the Apple Festival! Does your hometown have any sort of fall celebration, and if so will you make it a point to attend? My old hometown has the Sweet Corn Festival that we just missed because of rain when we were in Ohio. Our current hometown, Lakeland, does not do a fall festival but we have the Mayfaire by-the-Lake art festival in May.
5. What is your goodbye message to summer? In Florida, we don't really bid 'summer' goodbye until later in October or even in December when we can say goodbye to hurricane season. Summer is our least favorite time here.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I really never have a truly random thought for #6, but I will just say that our first responders and all the many, many linemen who have worked so many hours helping Floridians get their lives back after Hurricane Irma tore through, so deserve our respect and our praise for the herculean work they have done (and continue to do). Not just Floridians...all the people who are recovering from Harvey and Irma. God bless them for the work they do!
Thanks for your visit to my Hodgepodge! Peace & hugs.

Well, to start, no one ever asks me to sing, because I sound like a sick donkey, and as for speaking in public, no way, no how, no thanks! I love the fall festivals around our area, and there is usually one every weekend. So sorry about your and Joe's fall...I am sure you are sore and bruised...hoping you heal quickly. Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteOh my it sounds as if you and Joe took quite the tumble. I'm glad neither of you were hurt badly. Always enjoy your hodgepodge. Praying for all those affected by all the hurricanes. You are so right about all the people helping out.
ReplyDeleteOuch! Glad to hear you are both ok.
ReplyDeleteSleeping in is the best.
Have a great day!
Ouch...so glad you weren't hurt. I have to say, even though I don't have to get up this semester and don't have a set schedule, I still get up at or before 6 am, sigh.
ReplyDeleteahh - look at you giving Joyce a shout out - you are just the kindest thing!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - BOTH of you fell?!?!?! ... that's always scary. But at least if you went down, you didnt go down alone ;) haha
Falls are so scary...I try to go slowly and hold onto any available hand rails. As a younger person I rushed from place to place with abandon so it is a game changer in the aging process for sure. So glad you were both ok.
ReplyDeleteI love hearing that you are enjoying retirement. I'm hoping to retire in about a year and I'm a little nervous about it. But more and more I'm looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you weren't hurt badly in your fall.
Amen to the linemen and first responders everywhere!
ReplyDeleteI was shocked to read about your falls! A (former) blogger/(present) friend had the same thing happen on one of those wheel stops and wound up in a cast and hospitalized for several days. Something you never think about happening. Thank God the two of you are OK!
I wish hurricane season was over. Sorry you and Joe fell - I have to admit I have a few times from silly ways. Rick just took a fall last week. I am glad you are enjoying retirement!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see you here today! I'm sorry about your falls. Hubs often tries to hold my hand on uneven ground and I tell him I need my hands free to break my fall. I'd definitely take him with me if I fell. Hope life is working it's way back to normalcy there.
ReplyDeleteI am able you were able to get up on your own after going down! Praying you aren't too sore and thankful it wasn't worse. I don't know if it's wearing bi-focals (me) or peripheral vision starting to fail but I have to look at my feet a lot or will trip over something. It's irritating for the body to be declining!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree the first responders have done the best jobs of helping people! I am so sorry about you and your husbands falls, praying for a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed evening.
Sue
Just before reading your post, Beloved and I were having our usual evening Bible reading and prayer timer together. Would you believe the passage this time was from Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, where it talks about how "two are better than one..If either of them falls down, one can help the other up."!!!That's you and Joe!!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, no one wants to hear me sing either. Molly and I did not get the carry-a-tune gene but we have been known to sing at the top of our lungs when no one else is around. :) We have a song in our hearts. LOL Oh gosh! I'm so sorry Y'all took a tumble. Mother tripped over one of those things once years ago. I tried to catch her but I missed. I hope Y'all heal up fast. I'm so glad you're enjoying retirement!
ReplyDeleteIt's very surprising to read that you think you are not good at public speaking because you seem so very outgoing. I'm so glad you and Joe weren't hurt. Jay and I took the same fall on the same day at the Discount Tire Store, tripping over a speed bump. I like your answer to number one and agree. The Hodgepodge is such a great help and Joyce comes up with good questions for us. Kudos always to the first responders and linemen and everybody who comes to our aid in times of trouble.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your falls. I hope you're both not feeling too sore today. Lovely answer to #1.
ReplyDeleteThanks as well to the National Guard here still in SW Florida handing out MRE's and water. Away from their families. We have a long way to go... the media moves on but the suffering continues.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you and Joe survived your fall. I am glad that you both were not more seriously injured.
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on the herculean efforts put forth by the linemen who have essentially rebuilt the entire electrical infrastructure in the State of Florida. SWMBO and I have a friend who lives in the Orlando area. She got her power back four or five days after Irma left. Considering the extent of the damage, that was remarkable.
So please watch your step going forward. Take care and as always, thanks for stopping by.
Sorry to hear about your fall, you were blessed not to be hurt any worse that you were! I do agree with you, so thankful for all the first responders during these storms.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm so late, Terri. Grandsons 7 and 10 years here for 10 days. I'm a grandma and a referee. LOL. I so agree with your answer to #1. I don't know how Joyce does this week after week!! But I'm grateful to her too. Sorry you had rain on your Ohio trip. And sorry you and Joe took a fall. So glad nothing was broken!! And about festivals, I'll have to say that your art fair is one I'd actually love to attend. What's with all the hurricanes! You poor Floridians!! At least all we usually have is a long cold winter. Must go feed the munchkins. :-) Hope you have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your fall in the parking lot! When you do it, you do it up big, taking Joe down with you. I hope y'all aren't too sore and scrapped up.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you are enjoying retirement! The pay isn't great, but it beats working :)
I hope you two weathered hurricane Irma okay. My brother lives in Lake City and was without power for four days, but suffered no damage. They're ready to bid hurricane season goodbye, too.
Take care,
Kathy (Reflections)
I am late getting here to the news...now I see about your falls...So glad neither of you were injured. That is really scary at "our age". Yes, so thankful for the linemen and first responders and the many people who have been working long hours trying to get our lives back to normal. I pray for their safety...and pray they will soon be able to get their own lives back to normal.
